Artillery pieces, obviously. ;)
-
Wouldn't that be too obvious?
-
I'll also bet on a Soviet artillery piece :D
-
Fully fleshed-out Greek faction. :P
-
Soviet faction is slowly getting complete! Awesome work again!
120 mm mortar, I love it already. Will it be stationary only or movable? And how strong will it be compared to the cuurrent arty pieces? About as strong as typical 105 mm HE?
-
Stationary only and it is not entirely coded yet. I'd say both the new pieces will be comparable to the US 127mm ship gun on Omaha.
-

Imagine the abuse possibilities if there would be a 120mm mortar pickup kit: deploy, fire all you got as fast as you can, exit, redeploy, voilá, full load of 120mm HE again. Rinse and repeat.
I WANT ONE!

Holy, fucking Moses.
Superzised explosions in the upcoming soviet update. SiG33 vs 120 mm Mortar and Howitzer; 152 mm HE shells from tank destroyer.
-
The SU152 can actually kill tanks with splash damage, that thing does so much damage it can actually kill tanks in the NEXT round.
-
All those super size calibers and loads of 88s firing through fields + infantry rushing with unlimitted PPSHs throught the trenches. Yeah, Eastern Front gonna be fun :D
-
URRRAAAAAH!
-
I expected it was to be about me breaking 800 posts on the forum or something, since it's what my nick means... Mildly disappointed. ;D ;D ;D
just kidding
-
Cant wait to rain fire on the enemy with these! ;D
-
Ohhh yea 8) both these pieces are works of art. Nice update frequency :)
-
I think i won't be happy to be on the recieving end of these. Not much of artyman myself, but they look amazing.
-
You know what they say, there are two kinds of people: Fellow artillerymen and targets.
-
Sweet Jesus this stuff is litteraly THE BOMB !!! 8)
Thanks for updating us so often for once, it's really a cool way to keep us interested while you prepare to release next update who knows when :D
I love your work, you brought a bit of joy and light in my gamer's life all these years !
After reading this I can't help but to dream of a german 12cm mortar. :P
-
I say, update is these days. Obviusly devs decided to update every two weeks. And it is great. But dont put exactly two ,lets say day before/after so we dont know. ;D Great update Im so excited to use this. I hope it will be three arty on one map so germans will be SPLASHED!
-
Splached yeah ! But it could be worse for them, imagine if the russians get the 152mm heavy howitzer ? Brrr i'd be shaking under my stahlhelm. xD
-
has it yet decided, how the range of the 120 mm mortar will be compared to other Artillery weapons? Somewhere between 81 mm mortars and the typical field artillery guns?
-
It will be very challenging to the Germans to defeat the Russians since they have so much equipment that is faster and has more firepower than the German ones. Sure there are some true gems for the Germans too but it seems there's more for the Russians what comes to artillery, small arms, armor and vehicles. Just compare the calibres, firing ranges and speed.
Speaking of the topic I was comparing the German and the Russian mortars and the Russian one beats the German one without a doubt by its higher calibre and also firing range (5700m). Unless there's going to GrW 42 to make it more balanced for the German team.
-
The 81 mm Mortar has a different role anyway. But as the GrW42 was a direct copy of the russian one anyway, I am sure it can be implemented very fast. It just needs a different skin and different sights, if there are different for the artillery guns anyway.
-
Wow, been using these mortar heavy hitters in COH2. Don't know if the artillery is the same piece ... The one the crew can only spin around and not move in coh2. Anyway it will be amazing to use these in FH. THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING !!!
-
Niiiice, can't wait to get spawnkilled by these!
Especially the Mortar, is it Fred's first "full" non-static model? :P
-
looks great as always awesome job guys ;) keep em comming! :P
-
German 105mm has nice range and explosions, now these russians will be beasts like US ship arty and what will be german 150mm Sig33?? Monster with explosions like commander arty??
-
Yay more rage for infantry men
I LOVE IT!
-
Makes me think that putting these inside a protected main base would be a bad idea I want to be able to knife Bouras and teabag his body lol
-
I just found out that the Russians actually copied it from the French pre-WW2 "120mm mortier Brandt mle 1935" through commercial agreements via a Finnish company.
The main difference seems to be the base plate.

pulled by a renault UE :

The Germans copied it from the Russians because they realized the potential of this weapon on the eastern front.
The same company created the famous 81mm mortar used by the Americans and French in ww2.
I know Brandt sounds German but it's not :

That thing was quite big! :o
-
yeah, I think it's clear now, why it's not gonna be a pickup kit, huh? ;)
-

LOL
-
Will there be a version that can be rolled around like ke AT guns ?
-

120 mm is large caliber, just without feel for scale and as it is more or less a larger version of the 60 and 81 mm mortar leads to this misconception
-

No. AFAIK it's gonna be a static artillery weapon only, like any other artillery piece in FH2 (except artillery vehicles of course ;) )
-
That makes me think we could potentially have a mortar carrier. :o
Something like this :

Or is it too evil ?
Also i'd love to get to see one day some modified german halftrack with an antitank gun (251/9 or 251/22) or something since we already have a sdkfz 251/10 that shoots paper pellets. :)
If a motivated dev sees this, take it as a suggestion, hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to create new vehicles with existing ones or at least I hope. :)

I still remeber Flippy teasing Jimi how artilery wasnt used much on EF by soviets ;D
-
And he ate it all up as if it was glazed in honey.
