Title: Diving in again with FH2, so I got questions:
Post by: nickm on 02-06-2017, 05:06:19
Gang:

I am diving in to the FH2 game again; before I get too deep into this, I wanted to know if FH 2 (or BF2 for that matter) works on Win10;

Thanks ahead of time.

It does work on windows 10, but I know little. Ask TS4ever, as he has FH2 on windows 10.

Ah good to know; patching my BF2 as I type...let us see how this works out.

Well now...I seem to have run into a problem: I cannot 'run' the 1.50 patch; somehow I got the 1.41 to run but I cannot get 1.50 to work.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

You could always try the battlelog BF2, if it keeps failing. More info: http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/fh2_downloads.php

Thank you Slayer; I am waiting for it to download as I type. I will get back to you guys after I try one more time to get everything installed.

IT WORKS! THANK YOU, Slayer!   :)

BUT NOW, as usual, the Eastern Front Maps (Arad; Seelowe Heights) or Pacific Maps (Guadacanal, Tarawa, Iwo) don't exist in Single Play...so I hope it will pop up one day.

There is an inofficial patch on the sp forums that makes the eastern front stuff work in sp.

It is the thread below this one.

I found it...and I downloaded the co-op maps & from a PRIOR thread I created a local server with the Arad map...however, when I log in, I am all alone on the map. No-bot to play with and no bots to fight against.
Can anybody tell me how I can create a 'fight' for myself?

Thanks, ahead of time.

Did you set the local server to coop?

Yup...I set it to co op, but when I start things, it suddenly says 'conquest map'.
Let me elaborate: When I choose multi player, & start the local server, when I go to the co-op mode & look at the map menu, the Eastern Front Maps are not in the menu. Those maps ARE however, on the Conquest game mode...Am I doing something wrong?

Perhaps this could be the subject of another of your YouTube vids.

Probably means you havent installed the sp versions of the map properly.

You are probably right; I just installed the map into the BF2 folder...is there a particular folder that it needs to go to?

BF2/mods/fh2/levels

BF2/mods/fh2/levels

I get an error message: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield2\mods\fh2\levels is not a Battlefield 2 root folder

Have you tried:  C:\Program Files (x86)  ?

BF2/mods/fh2/levels

An interesting point: when I go to fh2/mods/levels the 'mods' for Arad, Dukla, Sammus & Seelowe are there...however, when I go back to creating the local co op server, the co op maps are still just in the conquest map mode. Is there a way I can just 'snip' them out & put them in the right folder?

before or after you doubled clicked the map you wanted to play?

Now that's the thing...the co op maps are pretty much the same maps as I find in single player; The three East Front Maps I want are only in the conquest game mode....however when I open the 'levels' folder inside the FH2 mod folder, there are ALL the missions. Is there a way to maybe, I don't know...copy & paste them from the levels folder to another file that contains the co op maps (which I can't seem to find)?

A friend of mine had exactly the same problem with the installer. He ended up installing it manuallly. For that, unzip the contents of this archive (https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArKl6aZTApvlkUu37QVdtG-rPhc8) into 'mods/fh2' folder.

In order for the game to find the maps you need two things:

1. that they are in the right folder (I think you get that).  gpm_coop usually

2. the DESC file in the info folder references them.   For example you should see something like this:
<mode type="gpm_coop">
<maptype players="64" type="push" locid="GAMEMODE_DESCRIPTION_push">Unlocalized test for this mode on this map</maptype>

FH2 (or rather BF2 iirc) has the nasty habit of changing back coop mode to conquest after you select a map. So please doublecheck if it is on coop mode right before you click "join game" or whichever button it is you click last before starting to play.

But now the Arad & Seelowe maps, I crash...I will grope around among the other maps & map sizes.
