Armor suggestion.
« on: 15-06-2009, 22:06:20 »
I don't even know if this is possible, but if it is, I'd like to see if anyone would be open to people inside the tank being killed by anti-tank rounds that don't necessarily destroy the tank. Obviously, a variety of methods can be used to kill someone exposed (either in one of those 'sitting on the tank' positions or in the turret machine gun position) but what about the driver/commander etc. being killed if the round hits where they would technically be in real life. I haven't played FH2 so I have no idea of that but if you think of this in FH1 terms, there are tons of scenarios where a shot to your tank leaves you with diminished vehicle health but not actually destroying your vehicle, whereas in real life some or at least a single member of the crew would've been killed.

Thoughts? I'm sure this is something the devs have thought about anyway, just an idea I had.

Way too complicated for the engine and way too problematic for FH2's way of tanking. :-/

Perhaps you should play FH2 before you comment on FH2.

Hmm.. perhaps you'd like to point me in the direction of a company willing to hire an 18 year old kid with no experience so he can actually pay his rent off so he can buy a computer capable of running FH2.

McDonalds.  Burger King.  Subway.  Jack in the Box.  Petco.  Karl's Jr.  Pet Smart.  Any kind of eatery.  Good god, just apply everywhere you can, that's how u do these things.  I applied to 15 jobs last week, only 2 have phoned back saying they're interested in hiring, Trader Joe's and Petco.

And to answer the unsaid question:

If you don't have FH2, have never played FH2, and currently do not have the ability to even play FH2, then don't comment on FH2.

VM, this is technically still the place to come for FH1 as well.  He might not know that the Devs have stopped development on FH1 and are concentrating all their efforts on FH2.

Really, the only way this is gonna happen for FH1 is if you do it yourself.  In FH2, it's not likely going to happen, because it probably isn't even possible, and if it is, there's not alot to be gained from implementing it.

For the love of God, where the fuck did I say I wanted this in FH1? Can you not just give someone that wants to help make the mod better the benefit of the doubt? Of course they aren't working on FH1, but some of us are still fucking playing it! So when an idea strikes us as to how to make Forgotten Hope better, don't shoot it down because someone hasn't played the very latest installment.

And for the record, I've gotten 52 resumes out in the last two weeks, and no one has fucking had the courtesy to even call back.

Hostile much?

Sorry.  You did say something about "Thinking in FH1 terms."  I'm just coming down off an FH2 high (a few hours of playing in TeamWork squad is a great way to get into a good mood) and I guess my reading comprehension is suffering because of it.  Sorry for mis-reading something somewhere.

Anyway, about the other thing, that reminds me.  I need a haircut and I need to do clothes.  I've been told I have to start "pounding the pavement" looking for a job or else.  Or else what, I don't know.  But my mother seems really intent on making me get off my lazy ass and contribute to the household.  Not that I don't know I need to do it anyway, but...  I'm lazy.

Oh well, enough being down in dumps.  Not your problem, just mine, and I shouldn't be broadcasting my problems anyway.

I real life, tanks have a driver, a gunner, a commander, plus other crewmembers depending on how advanced the tank is (loader if you don't have an autoloader; radio operator if it's too complicated or primitive to be operated by the commander; extra gunners for those hull MGs/AA MGs/secondary turrets; etc.)

In the world of FH2/BF2, one man or woman can fully operate the tank, an extra person is required only for firing guns from different crew stations simultaneously. Plus you can swap positions instantly which is certainly not possible in real life, plus you cannot drive from the driver's position with the exception of Marder III...

IMHO, the suggestion for crewmembers killed separately, depending on the point of impact of a penetrating shell, would be worth the effort only if a tank really required a certain amount of crewmembers to function, or at the very least that its performance would be dependent on the number of crew members in the inside slots. As this is not the case, the "damage counter" and eventual burning will suffice.

I wasn't aiming that at you, and in any event, it seems we're in the same boat. My dad's announced a few weeks ago that if I don't have a job by the 23rd of June he's kicking me out (I turned 18 on April 30th). Sadly, I believe him, as he's kicked me out for a lot less in the past and the nearest place I could feasibly stay for more than a night is my aunt and uncle's, 700km away. More resumes to go out tonight, then.

Except I'm 2½ years older than you, so I'm even more pathetic.  But...I gotta stop spewing my problems everywhere.

And my FH2 high is officially gone...

FH2 isn't a "latest installment."  FH2 is almost a completely different game altogether, on a completly different engine with its own quirks and coding difficulties.  So once again, don't talk about that which you do not understand.

I'm not being a douche, I'm discreetly pointing out basic fact.
