But i see NONE of you mentioning the fact that a M36 jackson/slugger needs 2 shots ATLEAST to take out a kingtiger tank from the SIDE
KT side armour= 80mm
90mm M3 penetration= over 140mm at 1000 meters.
Same applies to your Churchill. Panther, Tiger and even Panzer IV etc. could penetrate the sides. However those (King Tiger and Churchill) are heavy tanks and not on every map (There are actually only 3 KTs in the game which get penetrated frontally). M4A3s and Sherman Vs are on every european map that has tanks.
90mm M3 penetration= over 140mm at 1000 meters.
126mm @ 500 metres, at 1000 metres it would be 120mm with APCBC - you just added 20mm of penetration.
Not to mention the wet ammo rack storage and safer fuel tank allocation, all justify the current Sherman M4A3's ability to withstand a hit from a 75mm KWK40
That´s your opinion. But fact is the thing got penetrated. And no crew whose tank gets penetrated by a 75mm shell keeps on fighting. Someone is dying for sure in that tank, maybe it didn´t catch fire as often as the previous versions, but the machine was definately out of working order and the crew wasn´t feeling like having a picknick.
If you argue against this, then you care NO THING WHATSOEVER about balance.
If you mean boring mirror balance, well then no. There are other ways to create balance than pimping up a tank known to be fragile to insane levels.
You are talking a bit to much about tanks for somebody who appears on the servers 3 times a year.
Edit: I have yet to see someone here suggesting the Panther or KT to stand shots to the side. In fact nobody of us did that. But the omni-present Shermans on every map, everywhere, that stand 2+ hits become a serious annoyance. Panzer IV and StuG (also medium tanks) are usually down with 1 shot in my experience, if you don´t hit the 80mm plate.
