So...did this really happen?

Like, seriously this happened?

We're doing this.  This happened.  America did this.  The Rust Belt did this.

I am still kinda in shock.

Suggestions / Tank Camera Point of View
« on: 30-09-2016, 17:09:24 »
Huh, this is odd.  I like, never write suggestions here.  Mostly just respond to other people's suggestions.

Let's all just take a moment to think about this.

....

Ok, so now that I've been playing a bit again (and am seeing just how much 'touch' I've lost with the game- gonna take me a awhile to climb that difficulty curve again), I'm noticing something that I always noticed back when I played FH2 regularly, and it's still irking me.  Specifically, camera placement for tanks.  Some tanks, like the Tiger, have the camera placed right on top of the copula.  This works well imo- it places the player right where the commander of the tank would be looking out, and is nice.  However other tanks, notably the Panzer II and IV, but honestly this is on most of them, have the camera stuck at the front top of the turret, often with the copula behind it obscuring the view backwards.

I'm just curious if someone can move those tank camera viewpoints to actually be resting on top of the various commander copulas?  Not only does this purely make sense to me from an immersion standpoint, it also would be nice to get unobstructed views backwards.

FH2 Help / Support / Reinstalling FH2 on Windows 10
« on: 17-09-2016, 05:09:15 »
Hey guys, it's me, VonMudra, that guy who hasn't been active ingame in, fuck, I dunno, AGES!

Well, my HDD failed, and then my power supply failed, so I've spent the last few days getting everything back in order on my computer.  I figure now is as good a time as any to get FH2 reinstalled and maybe try getting back into the game, play that Omaha Beach map, you know, catch up on the past like 4 years of FH2 stuffs.

However, I have literally no idea where to begin.  I have BF2 installed through steam now on my new HDD and...that's it.  Help me!  I can't pay, but I will offer cookies/hugs/sexual favours.

Gaming / Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
« on: 24-08-2016, 05:08:24 »
So who here has gotten it?

I'm personally waiting to hear reviews (after I dropped 100 bucks on a pre-order for HOI IV, only to get so pissed at the direction the franchise went that I promptly uninstalled it on release day and now am far too burnt on just 'buying games I want'), and I'm seeing some mixed stuff.

I guess the 5 dollar DLC is actually only valid for ONE save- a waste of money.  Still, can be safely ignored.

There are ingame purchases for weaponry- not required, but still something that is kinda dumb.  At least that can be safely ignored.

Finally, and probably most importantly, I'm seeing a lot of stuff about crashes, optimization issues, etc, the usual gambit of bugs and issues on release.

All that said, I'm also seeing quite a few people agreeing that, barring that stuff, the game is a solid sequel to Human Revolution, with solid gameplay and such.  So....what's the verdict here, amoung those who have it?  I rather want to get the game, being a big fan of the Deus Ex franchise, but I'm just too burned by pre-orders and release day impulse purchases to be willing to drop 60 bucks on the game right now.

Off-Topic / Rudek and the Bear Kickstarter
« on: 25-10-2014, 04:10:07 »
Ever been interested in a webcomic on World War 2?  Wish there were more artists willing to deal with historical events?  How about if said webcomic featured a little known area of history?

Well look no further, because Rudek and the Bear exists!  Set in 1929 along the Polish-Belorussian border, Rudek and the Bear tells the tale of a company of Polish Border Guards and Belorussian smugglers.  It is a prequel to a future graphic novel, Zuzel and the Fox, which will be set in Danzig at the start of the war in 1939.  Originally supposed to simply tell how characters Rudek and Malutki meet, Rudek and the Bear morphed into a serious undertaking, and is now on kickstarter for actual publication in physical form.

So, before I post the link, this is one of my favourite web comics.  The humour is amazing, the artist is fantastic, and the pure fact that he is doing it all based around 1929 Poland is wonderful.  The project IS already funded, however he is setting up push goals, and hey, why WOULDN'T you want to throw money at this awesome project!

And here's a rather moving example of the artist's work:

Quote
A first-person, open world, realistic RPG that will take you to Medieval Europe in a time of great upheaval and strife. A humble, young blacksmith loses everything to war. As he tries to fulfill the dying wish of his father, Fate drags him into the thick of a conspiracy to save a kidnapped king and stop a bloody conflict. You will wander the world, fighting as a knight, lurking in the shadows as a rogue, or using the bard’s charm to persuade people to your cause. You will dive deep into a sweeping, epic, nonlinear story from Daniel Vávra, an award-winning designer from the Mafia series. Our unique, first-person combat system lets you wield sword or bow in both one-on-one skirmishes and large-scale battles. All of this - and more - brought to life beautifully with next-gen visuals delivered via Cryengine.

Non-linear story lets you choose between being a villain or a savior. Every quest can be solved in multiple ways.
A revolutionary combat system based on inverse kinematics, the only one of its kind to offer a rich, authentic yet easy-to-control, first-person melee experience. Based on actual 15th century fighting techniques and designed in cooperation with medieval martial arts experts.
Improve your character. Different play styles - warrior, rogue or bard - can be mixed and matched as you see fit. You can develop your skills, earn new perks, and fine-tune your equipment.
Large realistic, medieval-themed, open world landscape covering 3.5 square miles and 30 hours of gameplay (in first act, out of 3 total).
Lead the charge in enormous, open field battles and sieges. You are no superhero. If you’re going to take on an army of enemies, you better find one of your own to back you up.
Take a trip through the Middle Ages: Traverse sprawling cities, magnificent castles, towering, dark forests, and muck-strewn villages.
Discover this huge world from horseback or on foot. If you can see it, you can visit it.
A dynamic world comes alive. Every inhabitant plays a role in their communities, and as night follows day, you can watch people work, help them when needed, or try to interfere in their routine and see what happens.
Build relationships with characters, become a criminal or a local hero, seduce local women, threaten your enemies or pardon vanquished opponents.
Create your own weapons, cook, brew up potions, or dig around for silver. All crafting occurs in-game, using clever mini-games, rather than boring, soulless menus.

Off-Topic / 2 Explosions at Boston Marathon

Reports are still coming in, but I did find video of the first explosion, by the packed finishing line:

https://vine.co/v/bFdt5uwg6JZ

Looks like one of the runners also catches shrapnel in the leg.  Currently they're reporting 3 dead, plus dozens wounded, many missing limbs.  Also reporting lots of people wounded by ball bearings/shotgun pellets from the bomb.  Finally, they also found another bomb by Boston Library.

My fave part of the article is when a photo is captioned "Wartime Nazi bomber: The Heinkel He-115 flying boat, pictured during World War Two, was used to attack shipping and in a reconnaissance role", and is of a Finnish 115.

So how else here really hates the new forum style?  I can't even tell when a topic is new or has been posted in recently.  Plus, all the various shades of grey all over the place are playing hell with my eyes....

This looks...very promising.  I did some sleuthing, and found that the plot is essentially this:

The boy's horse is sold to the cavalry.  He enlists to go after it.  The horse ends up serving on both sides of the war, and is shown doing so (judging from the trailer and the casting, it looks like the Germans WON'T be evil villains, YAY!).  Eventually, they are reunited in no man's land, or something to that effect.

Actually looks REALLY good :O

Back in 2005 or so, JumJum (only old forum vets will remember that amazing man) predicted that Amy Winehouse would be dead within the year.  When he was wrong, we continued to follow her (stylie included) to see just when she would finally succumb.  Well, she finally did. |:

So, as a few of you know, I have had massive problems with getting FH2.4 to work.  First it wouldn't install, then BF2 registry was disappeared, then BF2 wouldn't install after I deleted, cuz the CD's weren't working.  So I bought BF2 on steam, installed the full install for 2.4, and etc.  Ran it, runs fine through steam on SP and local servers.  Then I tried joining wolf just now.  It immediately kicked me for Punkbuster being out of date.  Ok I thought, that's an easy fix.  I downloaded PBsetup, ran the updater until it said I was up to date, and rejoined.  This time I was in for a bit longer before I was kicked, with this error message:

"Disallowed Program/Driver"
