Title: Afrika maps
Post by: dutch on 10-09-2009, 13:09:06: On the Forgotten Honor server we want to add 4 Afrika maps. Witch maps would you like to see running? This thread will also be read by the other servers so they can then add their Afrika maps also. Please post a top 4 maps you would like to see.

Note VERY IMPORTANT: All Afrika maps are also updated with the 2.2 patch, so they are playing allot different and some maps are improved.

Please let us know so the pub servers can follow the wish of most votes for a map.

So we would like to start slowly with 4 maps first.

Post by: dutch on 10-09-2009, 15:09:13: Yes by the looks of it we put 2 air maps and 2 infantry maps, it is interesting to see Crete is not mentioned ones, I thought that was the most populair map. So as Sfakia. You see it is great to see a post like this and what you guys want.

El Alamein, wonderful tanking with lot of different vehicles and airplanes. Inf have big role defending bases.
Mareth, TIGER and nice gameplay.
Gazala, some early warfare with grants and such.

Infantry

Giarabub, Italians! and really nice castle, gameplay differs lots from others. No nade spam like in FoT.

Gazala, great map in all aspects. Plays good and looks good.

Sidi Rezegh, same here, good map and a perfect map to show off some of the amazing changes that were made with 2.2

Player numbers do drop off a bit compared to the normandy maps but pick up again during the map.
We plan to add some more, different ones in the next few days.

The publics have to be weaned off the Normandy only gameplay slowly.

- Sidi Rezegh: beautiful map, my favourite in NA. It has been tweaked so Germans can win more often now. It will be more fun! Also, the only map with 3 armies on it.

- Crete: only parachute map, a unique feature.

- Fall of Tobruk: most beautiful infantry focused map.

- Supercharge: was having doubts on choosing this one or Giarabub, but as I like the pushmode on this map as well as it has Tell el Aqqaqir (best flag in FH2), I chose this one. Also, when I check my other votes, the Italians are already on Sidi Rezegh (Giarabub would be in just to have them have a map too).

So I really hope these maps will have their chances as well. And soon too ;)

Post by: dutch on 10-09-2009, 22:09:45: Tonight we had the 4 maps impanted on our server and we had no player drop, only at the first normandy map we lost 12 players but that picked up back to 64 after 2-3 minutes. It tells us people even joined the Afrika maps.

Tunis rocks and all other maps give now a great variation to the gameplay.

Not really. I think Lightning screwed up that article when it comes to the tank combat. Ah well, atleast tank combat seems much improved in 2.2. However, I wish we got some more time to balance test the tanks in Africa. If it poses a problem for Africa public play we'll fix it up though.

IMO the normandy maps are much more fun. Plus everyone is kind of tired of the africa maps.

There is a server running only Africa maps, yesterday it had like 15 people on it, it was quite fun. Forgot the name but it was running a ranking system and got Africa Only in the name.
