It happened to me couple of times now that a shell landing 3-5 meters aways leaves me dead. It mostly happened on aberdeen.  The shell came from Pz4F1. I presume it was HEAT shell, just a hunch tho...

And I'm certain that those are marks from the enemy shell that killed me as I traced the bullet track.

no spoilers and your sure that where the shell that killed you landed? FH2 seems to have silent death tank shells sometimes.

there is the silent death (most times)
another thing could be a (un)lucky ricochet that bounced of the ground and then hit you

or the impact is shown wrong, i ve seen that a few times too

Nah, I had this, too, sometimes. It's not another silent shell, you die right when the other shell hits the floor, or a glimpse after that.
However, I always thought that to be a lag/ping issue or something.

I also suspect it to be a lag of some kind but I wanted to be sure. And I saw the bullet drop before me - that I AM sure.

I always get this. Sometimes it isn't restricted to HEAT shells either.
