Cartography, thats one of the many branches of geography.
I used to map out cave entrances, exits, and paths frequently in the 80s :)

I study Geosciences, more scientific than Geography, but both overlap in some things, mainly Physical Geography.

Started studying 1,5 months ago so I can't really tell too much yet and I'm having more Chemistry, Physics and Maths than Geosciences in the first term, the really interesting stuff starts later.

Can tell some stuff about mineralogy, structure of earth, plate tectonics, limited knowledge about vulkanism and general things relating the earth though.

Also, people that study Geography here can choose some of the modules we have in first term in their third term (Geological Processes and to my surprise paleontology as well)

I study at the University of Bonn. It's a good, probably the best place to study Geosciences in this region, so I'm happy - it's just not easy at all and I have to invest quite a lot of time into learning at the moment. But it will get better and more interesting in the upcoming terms.
