This reminds me a little of the annually recurring tradition of accusing atheists of trying to destroy Christmas. A very small minority raises some concerns, eliciting a completely disproportionate reaction of seemingly every single person who enjoys Christmas.

The same is happening now. I can't open the newspaper or watch television without people complaining and complaining and complaining. It even goes so far that I am bothered by it on the bus, having to listen to the conversation of the person next to me, complaining that "those damn immigrants should be grateful we let them into our country and shut the hell up". It's a pointless discussion that only polarises groups that aren't getting along very well today as it is.

And for fuck's sake it's still 6 fucking weeks until December 5th...

Basically Knecht Ruprecht is a black man and assistant of Clause. He is black, because he is supposed to frighten the children, forcing them to well-behave. Children who did not behave throughout the year are punished by him. At least that is what the children fear nowadays. A century ago Knecht Ruprecht was really beating the children with a birch if their parents wanted to punish them for bad behavior.

However, this got nothing to do with black colored people or race. Knecht Ruprecht is black because he represents the evil side, the sins, he stands for the devil giving a fortaste on hell. If he'd look like Bibo from Sesame Street, who'd fear him then?

Basically, I agree with Ts4EVER, you should not ban the stuff. Just teach the children what it means and make them understand. The Germans did that with their dark WW2 history, the Japanese simply doesn't. Too sensitive and offensive for "peace-loving" modern Japanese? Why not ask Koreans and Chinese comfort women victims? Or Indonesian Romusha slave workers? Or British POWs in Burma? Political correctness is akin to populist stupidity: it is all about reckless quick action with little regard to research and deeper understanding.

You have to know, every majority is racist. But theirs aren't just as loud as white people's media.

For example, every Indonesians feel obliged to put disclaimer before they referring to the least offensive reference to the Chinese. "Saya tidak bermaksud SARA" (I don't mean to be racist), but "I support you damn crazy Chinese! Slay those corrupt officials!" It feels totally weird, and that is not even a proper use of Indonesian language.

Then we have the Japanese view on immigration and their stubbornness, despite aging population and dwindling birth rate. It is not even helped by their hostility towards the "gaijin" master race, they got more stare in a public bath rather than the gaijin Korean or Chinese.

Then we have Koreans, who have that inferiority complex, and this "innocent."

Oh, and never mind the amount of discrimination the white minority received in Zimbabwe and South Africa, despite them being the friendly non-apartheid ones.

Why should i? seriously? Why do i need to be hurt by this? I decide what i will be hurt with it.

I was very upset when one of my friends got beaten because he is gay 3 months ago.(No not by foreigners, This time it was right winged white trash Skinhead who kicked him on the floor)

But i am not upset at all when i see all those deaths in Syria. Thats over there. Not here.


Simular with my chronic disease. Crohn has destroyed many fun things of life. I recently was pretty sad with my current health state.

What helps me is somebody being there for me.
What doesnt help me at all, is some person coming to me: WHY ARE YOU FEELING SAD WHEN PEOPLE OUT THERE HAVE CANCER OR HAVE IT MUCH WORSE.


How the fuck does this helps? Its MY problem i am bothered with. Not there's. I am bothered with friends who have health problems. I am not really bothered with strangers i do not know.

I donated 20 euro's a while ago to cancer research. But i would not have lost any sleep at all if i did not dropped that money in that girls deposit box at the city square.
