Heroes and Generals
« on: 11-10-2011, 12:10:59 »
I just ran across this game on ModDB. Called Heroes and Generals, has a similar idea as WWIIOL and is being developed by Reto-Moto / IO Interactive.

It has some interesting ideas for gameplay and looks alright enough.

Their development model is user driven which seems kinda cool and that they're currently accepting alpha registration...

I at least registered for it and am going to test it out, anyone with me? :)

check out their alpha registration thing here: http://www.heroesandgenerals.com/2/index.html

and discuss!

Is that an M2 .50 mounted on the Stug?!

Anyway, signed up for Alpha for the lulz. Could be good. Will wait and see how it develops. :)

The simple fact that this is being made by the veterans from the Hitman series is delightful.

Also, to answer above, the engine is called "Retox" and its being made by them.

Signed up, too. The concept sounds interesting and I liked WW2OL so I´m looking forward to find out how this one will play.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Oh, look. Late war German vehicles in way-too-pale panzergrau.
Let mortal heroes sing your fame

I smell F2P with MTX, hope it works out for them. Cool idea, and should be able to learn from the mistakes that WWIIOL did.

I couldnt see though, how many players per server are they planning to have?

Well there was an interesting presentation on BFH at GDC earlier this year, 'Paying to Win?' with Ben Cousins..

Recommend to check it out if you're interested in it :)

As far as I've learned, their payment model for the game is "not yet finalized, so I cannot give you a precise answer just yet."

In regards of their engine, more info here: http://www.moddb.com/engines/retox

Ofcourse I've seen/listened to it (although nothing in it was news to me), What did you think was so interesting about it?

I was more directing that at LuckyOne. I assumed you'd already know the presentation.

I found it interesting in relations to the business model used at the company I'm working for. But nothing I care to go into details in an unrelated thread.

Apple ( heeeeeeyyyy :) )

Hey man :)

Yeah, thought as much. Well, I did manage to register. I have no clue how one gets to play the game, but I read they PM people keys or something, I don't know, I requested one though  8)
