I think game could do with more easter egg pick up kits like the winchester. Not unrelaistic for this to happen in ww2.

Suggestions / Re: Weapon Unlocks Progression System??
« on: 30-10-2021, 17:10:46 »
I was thinking about this last night but not to the same degree...i.e. more subtle.

for example

Beyond a certain rank one should get

1 extra smoke for Squad leaders. (but only two can be live at any one time, as it currently is)

Extra clip of pistol ammo for SL/s or other kits with pistols.

1 extra mine for Engineers. (but only on larger/african maps. 5 isnt enough on sidi rezgh for e.g, desert maps have less statics overall and placing mines seems always like a waste of time. It is hardly rewarding waiting a 40mins only for a tank to drive thru your minefield because your 5 mines are 10 in-game meters apart.)

Binocs for AT. (perhaps with ability to place arty markers removed).

Small things that only add a little bit more weight to a ww2 typical loadout.

While this would make 'deployed' loadouts not exactly historically accurate, whats not to say a hypothetical soldier would not make use of things found on the field? Soldiers would definately grab a pair of binocs from an enemy combatant in ww2, it's not unrealistic. A nice touch would be make the binocs at spawn, that of the opposing team.   ;D

seems like a good suggestion with a an easy fix.

FH2 Help / Support / [File] Unofficial 2.58 Patcher
« on: 07-09-2021, 04:09:43 »
Hi all

Here is a concise as possible 2.57 > 2.58 updater.
Should anyone have issues with integrated torrent downloadedr in fh2, they may use this instead.

The Patch consists of a simple .cmd script inside a Self extracting WinRAR archive;
it detects users existing fh2 installtion directory and stores this as variable which is then used in the copying process. This is done because the program directory/path can vary across (i.e. XP, or 32 vs 64bit) systems, or if user chose an alternate directory upon initial installation.
Then, the 63 new files are copied into this directory. Folder structure is retained.

There is a txt file inside the archive which lists the updated files also.

Unofficial 2.58 Patch (186 mb) - Onedrive

feedback welcome

Hi
for some reason the mortar deflection adjustement moves up and down alot since 2.58
other players confirmed this (and on two seperate maps).

is this part of the patch?

Quote
download it inside a proper location, then it will weight only few Mb.

Do you mean the fh2 directory? use torrent program to download 'into' fh2 directory?

I use utorrent. Will it automatically detect newer files?

thanks

Hi
Is this a patch or what? The original 2.57 iso is 8.07 whereas this 2.58 is around 6.91Gb.

Wouldnt it of been wiser to issue a small patch alone for just two changes?

This problem surely will limit the number of new players because 32bit is still relatively popular today. I think its a major flaw of 2.56...
Do you use XP by any chance? I discovered the cause of the problem, it was the newest Inno Setup version I used to compile the standalone installer (6.x), because as it turned out, XP support was deprecated with its release. I did a fresh Windows reinstall some time ago and had to install Inno from scratch as well, but didn't pay attention to the deprecation notice. Now I'll have to recompile the installer using old version, and I bring apologies on my end for that.

Hi do you have an updated 2.56 updated ISO there (or indeed 2.57)?

Do you have a copy of fh2_setup.exe from 2.55? Maybe I can replace 2.55 fh2_setup.exe onto 2.56 iso (after extraction of ISO to another folder).
I doubt there is one. I only ever used FH2 Launcher to update.

Nevermind I've since downloaded 2.55 ISO again and have the (working) fh2_setup.exe.
I copied it and  overwrite fh2_setup.exe on 2.56 ISO with 2.55 version but this did not fix 2.56 standalone install. Therefore, currently the only way for 32bit users to install 2.56 is to download 2.55 and update via launcher updater. (but 2.55 links are hard to find I had to do extensive google search to find it again).

So can any devs confirm whether 2.56 "full" .iso will be revised?

Edit I installed 2.55 and then the pre-release in that order and it now works. 2.56 needs revision though.
