Post by: luftwaffe.be on 19-05-2016, 18:05:57
So Hoi 4 is out for presale, release date 06/06/16.

Anybody here preordering ? :). I think it looks very polished, let's hope it's a bit better than hoi 3 ..

I pre ordered my copy for 25 euro, which seems a fair price for the standard edition .

I sprung for the Field Marshall edition, mostly to get the 1st and 2nd expansions when they come out for slightly cheaper (if they're each 20-30 bucks, it's worth it).  That said, I probably will not be playing it much until there are some solid mods out there.

They will cut the german version due to german laws. They remove some symbols, some high ranked Nazi's will be blacked out and renderscenes will be changed.

I Preordered "Colonel edition". Paradox - one of those "old farts" , who still doing amazing strategies. They deserves support.
By the way Hoi 4 wil be highly moddable.

Germans can find a way around by buying the Austrian version?.

Speaking about the game itself, it couldn't convice me. I followed it when the development started and I didn't like it outright, something feels out of place, maybe I'm too resisted to changes, or I'm well into HoI3, the best HoI I played. I know a friend who is going to get it so I might ask him if I can play it in his computer..., other than that, I was so broken when EastvWest was cancelled that I stopped looking at new games altoghether.

Well, I'm trying to get a refund through steam.  Since I have 7 hours playtime it might be a lost cause, but I will need to try to go through an actual support-staff member to try and get that waived.

Do not buy HOI4 if you do not want a game that has turned combat into, effectively, a mobile app you can leave running and let the computer do everything for you.

As I feared. AI looksvretarded as well.
Gonna find a "demo" of it on a certain privateer harbour...
I doubt  I will play much before going back to HoI3

How can a SS panzer-division be somewhat historically designed with the division designer?

My review:

+
I must admit I love the equipment production and recruitment.
Finally is manpower actually a realistic number and not an abstract one.
AI can do naval invasions.
The political aspect isnt too bad, and rewarding.

รท
Air battles is too abstract and just a numbers game
AI is completely retarded
Battle plans are horrible

6.5/10 the game has potential with mods and DLC's

poor italians had to defend agaist allied landings at 1940 and almost lose 1m man

with couple of tweaks this could be one of the best ww2 game(strategy)
