Hey everyone. FH2 2.2 is great, but one thing that has been bugging me about this game is the fact that when i exit my game, an error message comes up telling me that BF2.exe has crashed and that i should report the error to the Forgotten hope developers.
This "crash" doesn't affect game play as it only occurs when i exit the game so it's not that bad or anything, it's just really annoying. Anyone know how to fix this? Or is it a problem that needs to corrected in the next version?
I am running Vista 32 bit, with good enough specs. Running in compatibility mode with XP SP2, and I have tried running as administrator. As well as this, I can play BF2 without any issues like this, as well as the PR mod.
Thanks for your help.

same thing to me, I don't mind it much, but it also happens with PR.
-
I get that, too. I just say cancel to it.
-
I also run Vista 32 and I think I get the Crash message every single time I gracefully click Quit out of FH2, or exit by any other means. Not sure what to make of it but I have a hunch it's just a BF2 thing. When I exit vanilla BF2, sometimes I hear the "error ding" but see nothing and everything seems fine.
-
Hm.. then you get people like me that only have this issue with a certain mod.. like FH2. I don't get in in vanilla or PR.
Does anyone know a fix for this?
-
this thing has been since its first release i think.

Yea, I get the error ding sometimes.
I think you only see that error message with FH2 because the devs put in a little feature where if your game crashed you could report it so that they could try and fix whatever the problem is. Since the application can't tell the difference between a real crash and the thing vista likes to complain about, the dialog box just comes up because it "thinks" that your game crashed. That would be my guess.

For whatever reason, it also likes to bring up the crash report thing if you have another program (Like Teamspeak, xfire, or FRAPS) running while you play FH2.
-
Can any DEVs clear this up?
-
I can confirm. FH2.exe crashed after shutdown. WinXP 32-bit SP3.
-
Now that I have been running without Xfire today, it seems to be very stable.
-
It seems to happen only when you've spend actually some time on a server. When you launch up the game to the main menu and exit, it won't crash.
-
I get the error even when I start it up and just quit... I'm surprised no one can shed some light on this?
-
I have read somewhere that the BF2 1.5 patch can switch the game to run in Win95 mode, which could lead to graphic problems with never computers and thus will result in a crash report from the FH2.exe.
Could you check the settings of the links that run BF2/FH2?

Same deal here.

I just note a mistake. I wrote FH2.exe, though it shoulf be BF2.exe, of course.

Really? Hm. What links that run BF2/FH2 are you talking about?
