Beretta smg in normandy
« on: 04-04-2009, 18:04:35 »
I usually don't make weapon suggestions because
a) the weapon is very common and will be added anyway or
b) the weapon is rare and not worth the additional effort.

However, have a look at this pictures, taken during the normandy fightings:

A group of german soldiers, 2 (!) of whom have the Beretta smg.
Because the weapon is already done I suppose it wouldn't be too much work to create a pickup kit, containing the smg (perhaps rename it to MP739(i)) with german sidearms (Stielhandgranate, K98 Bajonett). It's small details like this that make Forgotten Hope stand out, so I think it would be worth the effort.

Opinions?

They captured them in '43 and supplied them to Heer units?
Well I think this is a nice detail, more captured weapons could then be added.

I support this for 2 reasons.  First, because it adds variety and a suprise factor, but mostly because I infinitly prefer the beretta over the mp40.

Nice find!

Wonder what unit it is? i'd guess one of the Infanterie Divisions.

Would love to see some of the variety of captured equipment used by the Germans in Normandy eventually, captured artillery pieces (where appropriate - 122mm M-30 howitzers, 76.2mm ZiS-3 field guns, mle.1897 75mm field guns etc), italian soft-skinned vehicles for the 12th SS and captured (and converted) french vehicles used by the 21st Panzer division.

My guess is 21st Panzer division, as it was issued with lots and lots of captured weapons....

Good idea, although I dislike the Beretta^^.
Things like that add a cool variety that makes the mod good!

Thanks, I hate you. I hate you for bringing this awful softair gun to this new theatre.
Yeah, I know, some like it, but I hugely prefer the MP40... it's so... nice.. precise.. black.. sexy.. always when I touch your folding stock, I... oh well, I'm drifting away.

Seriously, but my grandpas air rifle he used to shoot magpies with sounds way more dangerous. And it probably deals more damage...

The Beretta is super deadly and I love it's sound. My favourite SMG. I love to spam with it. Though I still prefer the Carcano.

All the Italian weapons have weird ironsights.  It's like the post thingy sticks up too high.  Except the Carcano carbine, but no one can hit anything with that POS.
