Isn't the turret of that leopard 2 just a big shot trap?

Can someone show me a picture of this mythical T31, because so far I'm imagining a medieval siege-tower with a drilling artillery piece on the top.

Almost perfect ... this is a chassis of PzKpfw II Ausf D/E , first and only german cruiser tank  ;)

After fights in Poland and France , 155 was used to build a Flammpanzer II "Flamingo" ( cool name  by the way  ;D ) .

Nope, unlike tanks like the Panther, which had a 'straight' front, the Leopard 2 turret is triangular so any round that hits the front of the turret bounces off to the side. And it appears the entire angled front part merely is an armor add-on to defeat hollow shaped charges.

Or as Wiki tells it...
Quote
The A5 introduced a wedge-shaped, spaced add-on armour to the turret front and the frontal area of the sides. These armour modules defeat a hollow charge prior to reaching the base armour. The spaced armour is also designed to affect kinetic-energy penetrators by forcing them to change direction and eroding them in the process; it does not form a shot-trap since it doesn't deflect the penetrators outwards to hit the hull or turret ring. The gun mantle was redesigned to accept the new armour.

Im a massive fan of ww2 tanks . there are many Beautiful and not so beautiful tanks but my favourite has got to be by far the Tiger 2. Those curves are just perfect and for some reason the turret looks handsome (dont ask about my selection of words and the not-so beautiful, the t70. it makes me cringe when i see uneven tanks and small and confined turrets. the front armour is uneven and the gun is pretty small
