Can't use launcher to start the game

This problem came when I updated fh2.47, after I click the "play" button on fh2 launcher the game won't start. I look up task manager and there is a "fogottenhope2.exe" running.

I can use orginal bf2.exe and enter fh2 from "community" tab though, except there will be shader problems.

Any solution?

I have this same issue, worked once and now it "launches" I see it using 100% of one core in the task manager in the background but no error or window is shown.

Same here. The game worked fine untill a few weeks ago. Now when I press 'play' in the launcher nothing happens.
Forgottenhope2.exe is running in processes/taskmanager using 25% cpu power. So something is happening just not the right thing. I already reinstalled it a few times (incl bf2).
I can also run the game via bf2-> community tab, but also a few shader problems + you can't get online.

I´m not sure whats happening there, but I would guess that some setting from the launcher is causing the game to not start properly. (maybe graphics settings? did you try different settings to get it to start already?)

I made a debug version of the launcher, that shows the command to start fh2 mod in a message box if you click play. Replace the exe in your mods/fh2/launcher folder with the one below (make a backup of the original file first). Then try to start FH2 and make a screenshot of the Message box and post it here.

I've been playing around with graphic settings but nothing makes a difference.

Sry, i missed your post until now. Well, the command line looks ok.

You could try to start FH2 manually, without the launcher.
open a command prompt and run:

cd /d "L:\Battlefield 2"
ForgottenHope2.exe +modPath mods/fh2
Next guess would be some corruption in the profile you use (maybe caused by the launcher), so to check that start FH2 without the launcher and then create a new profile.

Trying to launch it via cmd doesn't work. You get the same result, forgottenhope2.exe running with 25% cpu usage.
Starting forgottenhope2.exe manually (double click on it in bf2 map, etc.) gets the same result.

I tried to logon via a offline account, using the launcher (created ingame), but that also gets the same result.

When I go to fh2 via bf2 I can't create a new profile because it can't connect to the servers. But then it tries to connect to the old servers so that won't work anyway or am I wrong?


But I must say that vanilla bf2 also starts slowly, black screen for a long time (20 seconds) before the intro movies and stuff show up, but eventually it does work. So if the other guys have the same problem, the problem might not lay in fh2, but in bf2 ('s engine) which has problems with the latest gpu drivers or whatever???

Nvm, I fount the solution!
I went to the folder: C:\Users\"username"Documents\Forgottenhp 2\Profiles
Inside that folder there is a folder named: 001/002/003, etc depending on how many accounts you have.
I went to my "United_Stealth" account file ---> profile.con (open with notepad)
Inside that file I removed the following lines:
LocalProfile.setPassword
LocalProfile.setTotalPlayedTime
LocalProfile.setNumTimesLoggedIn

All you should have left is:
LocalProfile.setName
LocalProfile.setNick
LocalProfile.setGamespyNick
LocalProfile.setEmail

Make a backup of the file before applying changes just to be sure, but it should work!

Nice that you got it working after all.
So it must be a problem with our new Account Backend, which is causing this "blocking".. because of the password ?!?
This is odd. I think will have to investigate into this so I will hopefully be able to make our launcher fix this.
