Taken

6/10
 Although, Irish CIA agent...umm

*cough* Irish Americans *cough*

You do know we celebrate St. Patty's Day, right? (admittedly just as an excuse to drink beer, but...)

UP
Also saw it. 10/10.
Best movie I have ever seen. I started weeping it was so good. Well done Pixar, well done.
(btw, did anyone catch the whole "Picture of Dorian Gray" thing going on with the house there? Hot Damn that movie had symbolism!)
Twilight - the movie is just like Schindler's list... You know you're watching a crime against humanity, but it's sort of entertaining.~~Ts4EVER

Illuminati - Angels and Demons

First of all: This movie makes absolutely no sense. The plot goes something like this: the pope died, the cardinals have to elect a new one. But the 4 preferred candidates are kidnapped and are to be killed in a ritualistic manner every full hour, until a bomb hidden somewhere in the Vatican blows up and destroys half of Rome at midnight. The bomb is placed at the end of a line of symbolic clues, which are then figured out by Tom Hanks. The Perpetrator: The Illuminati, a group fighting for the ideal of rational thought.... yeah, very rational scheme indeed. However, the movie didn't suck... It was well made, Tom Hanks acting was solid, there was tension, nice special effects and even some laughs. All in all it was entertaining, but simply preposterous.

I've read the book and it was quite interesting. The Illuminati are awesome.

Transformers 2
- OK, I had some problems with the first Transformers. Took me awhile to accept as an "OK" movie. It was OK, really. Not that bad, not that good, but OK.

But this time, I am right! Finally. This movie sucked so much I was about to fall asleep. No story, a movie filled with comic relief characters and absurd supporting roles.

I want my money back.

- I could not stand the fights either, come on. Big hunk of metals hitting each other very fast and a shaky camera is not interesting nor exciting.

Oy Vey shoot me now, I shall not even watch Transformers 2.
- Shot at Bethlehem Steel, near my house, to represent Shanghai. Jeez, if they're going to make a movie near my house at least make a decent one.
- The main character goes to Princeton. Because that school is sooo easy for someone to get into, even if they have been skipping class to fight Decepticons.
   - related note, Dad complains about "paying 40,000 a year," despite the fact that Ivy Leagues have tremendous amounts of financial aid and are almost entirely financed by donations from Alumni, and showing no joy over the fact that his son just got into Princeton.

Coraline:

8.5/10

I'd love to give this movie more, because it really was a very good movie, but then that would be comparing it to Gran Torino and Up!, which I gave a 9.8 and 10 respectively. Coraline was good, but not that good.

Dersu Uzala:

7/10

It was a decent movie, and one of the few movies made by the soviets I've seen. I disliked the ending though, and it didn't really have a great plot. Fairly touching though, when worlds collide type thing, etc.

I just watched Come and See for the first time.

That is the most messed-up, disturbing movie I have ever seen.

10/10

But: it's like visiting the Holocaust Museum, or reading Night. It's not something you enjoy doing.

Ignorant teenagers from Norrland!  :D

Anyhow, watched Tropa de Elite yesterday again.

6 out of 10 (maybe even seven on a good day)

Nice story, put together very well and good actors. And very crude.

The Watchmen

8/10

I probably would have enjoyed it less had I read the books, but I found it very entertaining, though dark. Good storyline, good characters, good mood. All around a good movie (though not for little kids; it censored very little).

Recorded some oldies latley on a channel called "Film on 4" can watch them bit by bit in my own time then, great!  :), they are having a Gangster film Orgy!

Saw 'Once Upon A Time In America' last week, must be a 5 hr film, saw it years ago when I was a young whipper snapper, but nice to enjoy it again, I guess most of you have seen it so I'll avoid a review apart from just saying it's fantastic!

A new one for me also last week was 'Miller's Crossing' a 1920's/30's gangster type with Albert Finney and Gabriel Byrne,  I can't find the clip with the original soundtrack but this scene with the Thompson is fantastic!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5llpeuKREgs

^ The shooting in the legs from a hidden crouched position reminds me so much of FH2 situations! And the handywork with the Thompson, full of  FH2 goodness!  ;D

Recorded 'The Untouchables' with De Niro and Connery and Costner etc, I watched it  on Sunday, all I can say is that it was okay, but I’d love to have seen more De Niro as Al Capone, in fact they should make a film about Al Capone with De Niro playing him, little that there was of De Niro it was a great portrayal.

Recording Scarface tonight, seen it years ago, I remember the chainsaw and “my lil’ friend” bits, but looking forward to seeing it all again.

 ;)

Shaun of the Dead

Most epic horror movie I have ever seen! It's a combo of horror/action/comedy and very nicely put together.
