This is an ok description of FH2, nothing more, but a nice read.

One might expect a 'new 2.4 review' to mention Bulge and/or snow  ::)

@Beufort...
I am just saying, don't make my idea for FH2 come across as ridiculous, especially why I am still lobbying for it, is all. You can put your fists down now.

Oh, okay. You're simply saying my comment is ridiculously put although it isn't. No need to punch you in the face indeed... ::)

We had the idea of 2 speed tanks years ago, but discarded it and it will never surface again.
FYI: the reason tanks and vehicles bump in to stuff and get stuck, is pure mapping or level-design flaws.
In short, you can say that we spent a lot of time making things look nice, but secondcoming movement and playability.

Please back to the topic of this review  :)

I still wonder why the reviewer only used pictures form FH2.2 and described errors that were common in that version and which have been almost removed from the mod by now. (i.e. the problems you have when entering a building)

Yes, nice review and all, but why oh why only use desert pics?

I just hope that people read this review and then go to FH's webpage, or to moddb.

Yea that was weird, I would guess he had those picture convenient and couldn't bother to go in-game and make new ones.

Not even that, just google 'forgotten hope 2.4' and take your pick of in-game screenshots. :/

Well to be honest, this person was clearly playing it for the first time and hasn't been there since Version 2.0

He is therefore looking at the game in totality for the first time. But yer, like the OP said, he did skip a key aspect, the theater... if not having done research to find out what new things 2.4 offered.

Iwouldn't know what mod is NOT buggy, so in that respect, I don't think that point is a sticking point in the review. Its not a commercial game after all. And IMO, FH2 IS one of the less buggy Mods I have played. So I think its good he didn't go on  and on about bugs.

Still, from the aircraft picture in that shot, and the bullets flying around it, its clear that NONE of those pics go beyond 2.0! And really, the Dorchester to represent ground combat?

Uhm.. that's what you do in forums, not in reviews for magazines or websites. :-/

We dont care if people have been in fh2 since 2.0 or followed us madly dedicated. If you install 2.4 today, this review is relevant for it. Old versions are dead, we care only about what is played today.
He reviewed the game play and how the mod looks and feels, theatres and meta-data isn't that relevant when reviewing.

Yes, but when a potential new player reads this review and then thinks "meh, only desert" and doesn't bother to look further, then that is one potential player less for our mod. ANd that could have been prevented easily by the reviewer.

So maybe that isn't " relevant when reviewing", it IS relevant in an advertising sense of the word.

Yeah Natty, one big selling point of Fh2 is diversity, so it would be nice if he had shown pics from several different theatres.

There's no such thing as bad publicity. Anything that increases the exposure of the mod is a good thing. I hope more game sites publish reviews.

Don't be so pessimistic! The review does end with this summary:
Quote
This Battlefield 2 mod seems to have improved significantly over the course if its life, so it might be high time to grab a gun and get gunnin'.

Big selling point: We have MOAR maps than the vanilla and also more than PR! Hurrrr!

Anyway, dessert combat is unique, and probably it is an American affectation with their modern combat theatres. Just like you guys said, Normandy, Bulge, and other American theatres are overrepresented in many other games, and maybe those dessert theatres could be a unique selling point for FH2?

Also, I have this impression, that FH2's African maps are much better than other theatre maps. In a way, it is more complex, has more depth, and gave us unique and specific themes. They are really worked to the slightest details. We have sandbox-like El Alamein, Giarabub siege map, Op. Hyacinth night raid, epic CQB in Fall of Tobruk and Sfakia, intricate bunker fights in Sidi Rezegh or Mareth Line... i'll just describe it as "beautiful", they are also feel realistic.
