Also a question regarding PUs in EU III... How the hell you guys get them? I never manage to do it, I only get the same dynasty... Do I need to have 200 relations with the country whose ruler dies?
It's a random event, but there are some rules that need to be followed. For instance, you need to be more powerful then the other nation, otherwise you'll end up on the wrong side of the PU (and you don't want that because the minor partner can't declare war and had to pay an extra tax to the major on monthly basis). Once you're in a PU, you need to maintain a relationship of at least 100 when the monarch dies in order to keep the PU. If you go below it, there is a chance there will be a different monarch. After having 3 PU's in succession, chances greatly increases that the minor partner will be absorbed by the major one ( a handy way to increase your realm).
And that screenshot of Goljatti... Is this a MP game, or you keep switching the countries you play? Cause that amount of small irrelevant countries (Pope, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Finland) blobbing so succesfully is really improbable in a regular EU III game...
not that uncommon. However, you can also change the beginning setup for the game so other nations have better chances. by default the game starts with lucky nations historical. This is a hidden modifier that gives certain nations a great advantage, and is the reason why the same nations tend to blob (Austria, France, Castile, England, Muscovy ... ). But if you want, you can change it to lucky nations random or lucky nations off, giving other nations better chances to blob
Other then the traditional route of RM to get your PU, is that you can force another nation in a PU by means of war . You can do so by creating obscure documents and then declare war with obscure documents as a casus belli. I've never done so myself though, as I prefer simply stealing their land.
