I will make a little video of the basic actions about it soon and put it in the firearms tread.

Hickok45's video about a romania made Tokarev. Didn't know it had some similarities with the M1911.
True, both have the bullets in the magazine, and both have the trigger in front of it and eject the cases to the right....
Seriously though, people always compare everything to the 1911 and then say they stole some of the design. how i hate it. All the handguns are sort of the same, and everybody steals of everybody else. Sometimes somebody ads something interesting and then everybody else follows. If there is a patent then they just do it a tad different with the same result.
I read that in "Detective Conan" Japanese comic series. A female FBI agent (somehow doing things outside their jurisdiction) disarm a bad guy with Tokarev by doing what exactly you said while feinting a clumsy bump. She pulled the hammer back and hold it in half way until it clicks. It locks the trigger, confusing the newbie terrorist.
Now, how to release the safety? Just re-cock the hammer or pull the slide?
That only works on a weapon where the chamber was empty, so not ready to shoot to start with. Having the hammer on the firing pin with a loaded chamber would just be dangerous, a bumb to the back can set it of then. If he was ready to shoot then the hammer is all the way back, no way to accidentally put it in safety then in my opinion. all you can do it hope he shoots and you catch the hammer from going all the way forward, then it would be in safety. and very confusing since the triger is locked, and the slide also.
Depends, recocking the hammer makes it ready to shoot if there is a bullet in the chamber. pulling the slide only puts a bullet in the chamber and cocks the hammer if not already done.
