General Discussion / Re: FH2 Thursday Reloaded!
« on: 10-05-2012, 22:05:14 »
I have experienced this increase in alertness with both a moderate amount of alcohol and a friend on the line with skype. I think the benefit has something to do with my tendency to get distracted. If I am alone with my thoughts and sober I will be thinking/overthinking all sorts of things while in game. If I've had a few or am chatting merrily about his or that with a friend, I simply choose a direction, and all my subsequent movements are efficient reactions to in-game encounters.

As for skill dropoff, unless I've had too MUCH to drink, my worst moments are when I first get on and havent acclimated to the game yet. Often Ill do so badly Ill have to start a squad and focus on NOT DYING for a time. Which can still be quite helpful to the team, of course.

What is this ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF7e2rgzsrU   ;D

About a year ago the forum software was updated from smf 1.x to smf 2.x.
The old Theme "Warzone" was still available, but was no more properly working with the new software.
So we re-created it for smf 2.x (more or less) as the "ForgottenHope" Theme. This is the default theme now for a long time.
Some images got changed there lately and some bugs got fixed (the cursed search box), so I decided to clean up the theme folder today and disabled the old themes. This change affects at max the 18 people that were using it, compared to a few thousand users of the default theme.

But of course, if there is anything that could be improved, tell us and we can make further updates to the ForgottenHope theme.

What!? This was changed a year ago? I've had the flashing dots up until now too. I never purposely chose the warzone theme, however.

I could have sworn there was a little facebook/twitter thing that followed me around on the right hand side of the screen.

On the forums I mean.

But not all the time though.

Sometimes it showed up when I was on my phone and blocked half the screen.

I think it's like an internet poltergeist or something, being mischievous and only showing up to do things to the page and annoy you when you're not expecting it. At first I thought it had changed the stars to confuse me.

Edit: Nevermind the poltergeist social thing is still there and it was giving me a funny look like I had a cookie it wanted but was waiting for me to drink my milk then take it.

I already have a 24oz Monster in the fridge, a bottle of black spiced rum, and an intent to explode stuff. Why isnt it afternoon yet!? C'mon Thursday get a move on!

That's a pretty nice collection you found. Are you gonna have any of it framed and find a place on a wall? I imagine it is quite a thrill to find stuff like this. You get to be Idiana Jones for a bit, searching through the ruins of Attica.

Nah you can't get more manly than wolves.. FH2:BK

One can dream...

Regarding the trailer, it is just sad. I was struck by two things. One, the game looks like crap. I mean technically like crap. The engine is too old for a full priced game released in 2012. The gameplay also looks like crap. Story also crap.

I was also struck by the number of downvotes.

Am I the only one who finds it in bad taste that on a developing story like this the BBC site points to "Related Articles: Air Disasters Timeline."

I hope it's something such as trouble with electronics rendering them unable to contact anyone for the moment to say theyre all safe an unharmed.

That is straight up stunning. It looks like a shot out of google maps or something. Sheesh you guys really are extracting everything you can out of this engine. Looking forward to the new desert map!

I just had to mark that comment as "not spam" : /

Also, I flagged the trailer as spam > fraud

I can think of no better description of the fraudulent crap they're pushing out in an effort to dupe people into paying them for someone else's work.

I'm fairly certain these lazy sods never recorded which content they lifted from where, so if EA or Valve files a claim theyll have to shut down completely. That or EA will go through their game files with 5000 people and bill the manhours to this company. Which would probably shut down the game completely.

But yeah, overall this reeks of a money grab. Pay some wannabes a bit of money to collect content and hack it together fast and dirty, call it a game, spam it all over, make as much money as possible, and hightail it when people start noticing where the content actually came from.

I've been playing too much Sins:Rebellion and am currently fighting the urge to mash F8.

That's what I mean. Well I guess I wasnt clear, I mean a console gets it exclusively upon release. Anywho, has someone ever tried to kill everything before? I wonder if it would be doable.

It kinda bothers me that a console gets exclusivity, but since it's DLC, I kinda feel like that's proper...

Paasky that video has me grinning like an idiot. Definitely brightened my day. Awesome choice of music and well shot video. : D

I really wish BF2 collision meshes werent so buggy. There seems to be a lot of things that cant be done because they interact so poorly.

Bouras' church tower one struck a cord. Any time I get shot from such a cliche spot I make it my goal to HE/Nade/Shoot with open sights the offender. Also to add on a bit:

*Shoot a mortar and kill 8 friendlies and you get praise and laughter from both teams as you get kicked from the server.

*The bush you are hiding in is not a Ghille suit.

*If you can see the enemy, he can see you. If you cant see the enemy, he can probably still see you. Dont stop to look for him.

*The lone wrecked tank in the middle of the windswept desert plain is not a clever hiding spot.

*The more times you shoot an enemy with a pistol, the better his aim gets with his rifle.

*The Italian LMG holds less ammo in its magazine than any other LMG, is fed using a clip system more cumbersome than any rifle, and has to be deployed to shoot, making it the most embarrassing weapon to be killed by repeatedly since the Second Story Tankette.

*You are not hiding behind that tree. Running and jumping makes you look like an idiot. Now the entire upper half of your body is sticking out over that ledge. No I am not using an aimbot.

*The Semovente is impervious to 2pdr shells. and is the official tank of desert hill-ninja societies.

Oh I got that messed up then. Something to do with the two year differnece between the characters and the 2 year age up. It doesnt really make a differece though, the actress is still a 16 year old playing a much younger character.

I definitely prefer it, I would smack HBO if we got an Anakin. I was just explaining my reasoning as to why she seemed "stupid" as a previous post pointed out.
