I'll be off to Thailand for 4 weeks in a couple of days from now, any suggestions on museums and such ? Mind you, I don't think I'll travel to the Kanchanaburi area, so all that Kwai stuff is rather unlikely. But there isn't much of a plan yet so I may just pass through anyway.

When I made my backpacker travel I stayed nearly 2 months in Thailand,    so tell me where you are and I tell you where to go ;)
besides Kanchanaburi has the lollest war museum I ever entert#d,   they claim to have the Steelhelm of Hitler and Mussulini for example....  and they say that a Mauser C96 is an allied weapon of WW2 .... I can upload fotos of the "highlights" if you want

Okay, lets take a look at the War Museum of Kanchanaburi

There are two more Museums in Kanchanaburi about the Railway, these a quite good, but the one I show you now is just for laughs

It is the museum next to the river kwai bridge, from the top of the Museum you can actually get a nice view of the bridge ,  and this is the real bridge, just the film with alec guiness shows a wooden bridge ….

Next, some of the LOLINGS inside of the Museum
The german “Hitler” steel helmet     ,   on the side you could still see the markings of the Kuomintang

And then also the helmet of Mussolini is  not missing http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/7637/img0773u.jpg

Somehow I cant upload anymore pictures,  so maybe later I can add a few more

I´ll probably visit the Fort Schoenenbourg in Alsace, France which was part of the famous Maginot Line. I´ll definately take pictures and if someone wants anything special I can post some of the pics here. The fort is quite big and has some special exhibitions, so be prepared for some (hopefully) good pictures.

I got a few for you, dating WW1 till just after WW2, did not take pictures of later models, also took pics of your Fordsen truck. Problem is though that the lighting in the museums so far was often very low, enough for the human eye but not my camera, and also i could not walk completely around most of them. Also i did my best with the pictures, some suck really bad, others are pure art.

I have 800 pictures so far, probably will take another 600 tomorrow. I have seen a total of over 100 planes and many light and heavy arms (at least 200). I took pictures of multiple angles as good as i could. Tomorrow another 350 planes to see and about 80 tanks and armoured cars, I am going to make all you guys jizz in your pants :D

Some previews :)
