2.26 Installing fail. -_-
« on: 17-07-2010, 13:07:04 »
Hey guys, I'm having some serious problems with my FH2.
I got BF2, installed the 1.41 patch, then the 1.50, then FH2 2.2, then FH 2.25.
Whenever I went to join a server that was running 2.25, it said I had an earlier version. (Even though I installed 2.25.) I DLed the 2.26 incremental patch. Now when I try to install 2.26, at startup of the install I get '1.41 must be installed.. install anyway'... 'Yes'. Then it takes 20 minutes to patch the game, and opens up a little box showing a landscape. A little later I get a new error:
'Patch suitability verification failed: Existing installation not valid for this patch'
'Failing with: 'Existing installation not valid for this patch' because: wrong existing file hash.'
'Patch suitability verification failed: Existing installation not valid for this patch'
The I have to cancel the thing...
What the hell!? :/
Help would be appreciated greatly, I want to play this fantastic game online! :(
Regards,
Mike.

I would say reinstall everything in this order:

Battlefield 2 patch 1.41
Battlefield 2 patch 1.5
Forgotten hope 2.26 full

Whenever you get an error message saying that you have wrong version (whilst joining a server) it ALWAYS means the BF2 version, not FH2.

Patch suitability verification failure indicates that something is wrong with your FH2 installation, perhaps wrong version and/or patch you are trying to install.

Ok, all done, and 2.26 is running ok. You little beauty! :D
SP works well.
MP doesn't. Whenever I click to join a server, the game crashes. Any ideas?

Try to run the game as an administrator. If that doesn't work, run the game in windowed mode to see if there's any error messages.

I'm logged in my administrator account, and am running Windows XP Professional SP3.
How does one go about running it in windowed mode?
Sorry, I am a noob at FH2. :P (Btw, bloody awesome mod!! XD)
Regards,
Mike.

Try to manually update punkbuster.
