There is a countdown on the FH2 mainpage!!
2 houers and 30 min to news!!
let the geussing begin;-)
im geussing atleast 1 aprils fools joke
and perhabs som real stuff aswell
like a neew map.
-
Don't expect to much. With all that trouble we had the last week, we didn't find time prepare a news or even a aprils fool. It's just going to be another text only news to let all the comunity know that the filefront forums are back up and we gladly take the chance to settle down with them again.
-
Aww. So were goin back to FF? I just started to like it here. :/
I guess there's years of history over there though...
-
Or knoffhoff is part off the elaborate aprils fools joke;-)
I mean why the countdown otherwize? usualy there isent a countdown.
And i newer have my hope that high dont realy need to cause either way what ever the neews may contain it have always been top quality when it comes from the FH2 Dev team. (and evryone knows this)
Either way we will see in around 2 houers.
-
I think, no need a countdown for that kind of "news".
-
They are gonna announce that Normandy won't be released before 2011
-
this is gunna be like last year isn't it????????? i hated last year
i shat my pants when i heard the false news about that (hope its nothing that bad again)
-
Like we say where I live: Poisson d'Avril.
-
I don't think anyone has any faith in FF anymore. Don't worry ;)
-
Like we say where I live: Poisson d'Avril.
doesn't that mean Fish April?
forgive my limited knowledge of French, I read it on my cats food packets, poulet, poisson, lapin, crevette.
-
...Well, at least it's something. Though, I did chuckle at "News-reel footage from the era proves beyond reasonable doubt that World War 2 pre-dates the invention of color."
-
well the news are up, and lets just say i dont bye it;-)
-
Yay! Monochromatic! Guys you're great! Now we'll crush any other game in case of visual reality!
;D
-

Well... once you see it ingame, you will love it. In the current beta it looks a bit weird though as not all the statics and vehicles have been converted yet.

If they were to actually do that, would they really need to retexture everything? Couldn't they just mess with the contrast/brightness or add a greyscale filter over everything?
-
Wasn't a monochrome option already in FH since 2.1 or even 2.0? Unfortunately I can't remember how to enable it, and the wiki's down
For what it's worth, FF forums are actually back online with (apparently) complete post database. Which might be handy for bug reports, faqs, older stuff, etc.

There are a lot of textures and to tweak them so that they look good in game isn't as easy as it sounds. Unfortunately.

haha thats def. a first in a bf2 mod :P
-
lol.
Nice April fools joke. ;)
-
Damn gotta wait like 4 weeks untill the next update then :-X
-
Well, since this one was early in the morning, there is a chance that the real update will be later today at the correct time :).
Who knows though ;).

lal ;D

Dear developers of the greatest mod of all times.
I hereby sincerely thank you for this important, wonderful change to your - I feel tempted to say our - mod.
This is a thing I have waited for for a long time. I often have been angered that the noob whining - and spam! - about this new theatre called "Normandy" has delayed the monochromatization of the mod.
Even more glad am I now to see you have chosen the right way.
Furthermore I'd like to suggest you do not continue working on this theatre. Reason: The colorization of the world already started in its early beginnings at this time. We don't need such a thing. I rather would like to see the development of factions more important than the americans, lets say like the Hungarians, the Greek Army, the Litunian and the Finnish, and more important maps on more important theathers, like "das Flakturn" (like in MOH:Airborne, just with finnish paratroopers), "der Burg Schmerzen", or Hitlers residence "die Unterzuckerhöhle".
I hope you continue on the course you've steered now.
If I can help, I will support you with any means I can, and by any means I am mean and mean "nothing below 30 vol%".
Sincerely, your jumj Schneider

Nice April fools joke. ;)
Yep! Nice try Mr. Devs team. lol
Like we say where I live: Poisson d'Avril.

Being call "Poisson" (fish) here in Quebec is the same as you saying to someone, "Sucker".
-
Good job devs! I thought it was impossible on the bf2-engine! thx! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I want the colours back again :'(
-
A counter? A boy! *checks FH website*
Ah, update. I like that screenie, would be a fun game mode. But them, I'm hardcore... :p
-
Ah cool haha all in black and white, all stuff needs to be fixed :P LOL, too obvious haha :)
Nice update ctz :)
-
Well, this update restores my faith in the devs and their historicly accurate ways. No longer will I have to play using my digital camera's b&w function set up on a tripod in front of the screen.
Also, I'm looking forward to crawling across the steaming manure pile (http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=180.0;attach=135;image)
-
You could always search an old black and white TV, and modify it to act as a computer screen. A great way to play any game in monochrome.
-
Lovely image for wallpaper purposes.
Though the April Fools joke wasn't that impressing this year, I think you guys are just too busy.
Anyways, lovely screenshot, it's my new wallpaper.
Though I'm still waiting for a fresh load of prowling Kittys but I wont remember Flippy until this weekend (hehe, I hinted you while saying I did not)

You know what would really kill? A joint operation april fool's joke with the PR-folks. Something like "we decided to do PR: WW2, together with the FH2 team" or something.
-
Yup. Since thats the wish of some players, would be a real hit just like FH Heroes.
-
For me the ingame add joke was the best one, the sign of starbucks at el alamein was just priceless :D

Lies! ;D , that will take a week or 4

Well a good thing that you suggest that because I thought it would really give FH a sense of reality if they add some PR gameplay elements. And it will invite PR players to play a game of FH 2 time to time. As far as i remember the FH mod for 1942 was made to make the game more realistic. Adding PR things like a drivers seat and a gunners seat in the tanks for example, I must say that i was really happy they addopted the PR fielddressing idea! :D

You must not have heard of the attempted joint venture between Forgotten hope and Galactic Conquest. They had a full render of an AT-KT and everything. :)
Id post the pic if I could; I'm sure someone has it though.

About the whole PR meets FH2: As an april fools joke, cool. But does anyone truly want elements of PR in FH2? Perhaps some things might work, but many things (the absent minimap for infantry, among others) will just make the mod more realist than fun. And that is what FH (1 and 2) has always been for me. A fun mod with historical accuracy.
Don't let realism stand in the way of a good game.
Cheers

There's actually immersion mode which removes a lot of the hud, including the minimap from FH2. I don't think many people use it though.
-

To you yes. Some people think that realism is the fun part.
Not saying that FH2 with ultra realism would work out nicely, but you can't say it will be bad just because it's not what you like.

Well not a change for the whole mod then but I was thinking more in the mini-mod direction. Just like all the community factions in PR, the FH team has alll the statics we need and the PR team has tweaked the engine.
-
As said in another thread which I think is the darn truth, PR has realism that fits their game and FH2 has realism that fits their game.
Fin.

I still would like to see how the combination works out

I totally agree. Having next to to no HUD would really make it more difficult for new players to jump into the action. There is already a manual, and it would only become larger, barring anyone who doesn't like reading long manuals. Which WOULD be a shame. Same goes for things like, let's say, no spawn at squad leader, although a suitable replacement must be possible.
I said it before, and I will say it again, only in other words :P : Realism is good, but too much and it will be more like work, than like playing games. At least for a lot of players.
