So you are us telling that standalone version would not bring any new players (that will learn the game and stay) or is it just a poor excuse?  ;)

Of course what you said Seth is (partially) true, but I can bet that standalone would bring quite a lot of new players, since making FH2 a standalone game would make the game promotion you mentioned so much easier. With a standalone installer you can focus on promoting FH2 via facebook for example, what is super easy if one want to do it properly, and from there you can make FH2 being downloadable with just one click, without the need of looking for a BF2 copy, installing any 3rd party installers, launchers, messing with illegal CD keys etc.

All the interested newcomer will have to do to get the game is just a one click on the facebook fanpage (you can set a special button for that purpose). It's really hard for me to understand why you guys haven't done that yet, because current way of installing this mod is still pain in the ass (especially for modern standards).

There are still WW2 geeks out there who would be blown away by all the content and quality FH2 has. Whenever I see a new guy in game, and they still pop up fortunately, they say only positive things about your mod. Don't waste that opportunity.

Came in here to basically post this.  I still run into brand new players when I have a chance to hop into the servers- there is no better WW2 Mp game on the market in terms of accuracy and content.  Yes there is a steep learning curve, but is an addictive learning curve as well.

FH2 as a standalone would be amazing, I just don't know that it is possible given the BF2 engine's rights.

Hmmm

.Revive shutdown
.BF2, BF2142 & BF Heroes moved to other discord channels and still have many players and going stronger
.Project Reality still going strong
.BFHD Remastered PRO II is now standalone and free on moddb
.Players are not allowed to discuss cdkeygen + changer on 762forum

If standalone is still not an option then at least make this Mod playable on PR and/or BFHD

This is a good idea and easy to implement.  I am currently have FH2 installed in the Project Reality/mods folder.  It works fine online but not local for some reason(possibly my total ignorance).  I had to add a few files to the main PRBF2 folder and a reduced version of BF2(still winnowing it down) to the mods folder to make it work.

It would be nice if PR players had to the option to download and play FH2.  I don't think it competes with their PR/WW2 project since they are such different games.  Maybe FH2 and PR can get together on this as a surprise for the next release.

I just went through the hassle of installing BF (After spending 2 hours thoroughly looking through all my discs lol), the two patches and then the mod. I almost gave up. Anyway, I still don't understand why the dev team haven't made the game standalone yet, aside from the obvious like more players flocking to the mod like PR did. It'd make me and my friends life a lot easier.

What is the excuse?  :-[

Is there a thought of moving to a new game like Hell Let Loose or Post Scriptum?

I'd rather have FH3 as its own game than a mod tbh.

Hmm.. well as I read here you all don't seem to keen on the idea, which blatantly sucks. It was a thought worth mentioning.

Or like PR, you have a fall back set up for returning the game to non standalone if it comes to a cease and desist.
I play as Dansolo online. I am also a FHT player.
You will often see me typing questions/crap/exclamations/obscenities.

I think this would be the least provocative option.  It's a good idea to cross-pollinate with other bf2 mods playerbases because those people have the greatest chance of sticking around.

Honestly FH2 should have went standalone 4 years ago. With BF V coming out this year it's kinda risky poking the bEAr... I'd hate to see FH2 needing to go underground like Revive or BFH...
