I got tired of paying rent and decided to buy my own apartment - the construction should end in the end of November. I have been on a quest for furniture for some time now, so I could move in as soon as possible. I need some advice with my kitchen corner, namely the backsplash behind the countretop. I have decided to have a photograph printed on wallpaper and then place a heat resistant plexiglass over it. Heres a picture of a random kitchen to illustrate:

I have gone through a lot of pictures, and have fallen in love with this one by Bill Holsten (http://www.billholsten.com)

There's something about that bird... Anyway, the problem is this is clearly not a suitable format - the printed picture needs dimensions of 600x2950 millimeters. What I have in mind, is to mirror the image, so the bird would be facing right, and then extending the blurry background, playing around with the same colors. It would also be nice to place a few similar looking mossy trees along the wall. The problem is, I don't have any experience in photography or photoshop and will need some help.

So here's the question: does this seem like something someone with basic knowledge of photoshop could make? The end result needs to look natural, I would hate to ask someone, have him/her spend time on it and then in the end go: "errr... I think I will just put tiles on the wall", because the result is not good enough.

If you have suggestions on other photos to use as the backsplash, or a solution completely different, I will be glad to hear them. The solution described above is definitely not set in stone yet. Maybe someone can suggest some more websites, where I could choose some panoramas from. Bare in mind though, I'm going to need the contact information of the author, so I can ask him/her for the high resolution version of the photo.

Here's the prelimenary drawing of the kitchen furniture and the plan of the apartment. These should help you get a better understanding of the situation.

I appreciate all input :)

I got this idea from thinking back to my army service and thought I'd put it out there.

What we did as squadleaders, was fill one mag with only tracer rounds. Well, we only did this a few times in practice, when we had live fire exercises, but the point remains the same. We used this in situations, where designating targets with voice commands was tricky. Basically, instead of going :"200 meters, big pine tree, slightly to the left, enemy AT infantry in tall grass" and waiting for my squadmates to decide, which particcular pine tree I had in mind, I could load the tracer mag, yell "enemy AT infantry, follow the tracer" and fire. Much more effective.

In FH2, designating targets is quite problematic. Granted you can use voip (many don't), It can still be pretty tricky if you haven't had any training on the subject and/or have to speak in a foreign language. In short, theres a lot of "errr....   ummmm.... errr... nevermind" going on.

The suggestion, as you might have guessed, is to give squadleaders 1 mag of tracer ammo for their SMGs, for the purposes described above.

First of all, do you guys think this is needed and would it be used ? And for the history nuts, was this method common in ww2, were there tracers produced for SMGs? Any way you think you can improve or further develop the idea?

One example of how I see it being used ingame: I see an enemy soldier going prone into some vegetation 100 m away, out of my effective range. I can no longer see him, but I know he is there. So I say : "Machinegunner, follow my tracers" and open fire. The MG peppers the area with rounds and kills the enemy. Success, quick and effective. In theory at least :P

I'd like to see this feature back in the mod, added a poll to see if I'm a minority.

I remember this was one of the features I was excited about back when FH2 was announced. And it’s not like it would be unrealistic, hitting anything on the move was pretty much down to luck in the older versions older versions, like it is in real life

As I understand this was removed to disable firing bazookas from willys’s. A realistic concept I guess, but removing all weapons ability to fire just for this seems going way overboard. Also I have to admit, kubelschrecking was just so much fun :P  I wouldn't call this strategy overpowered, if your team knows what it is doing, taking down lone jeeps is not a difficult job. Granted, its pretty unrealistic.

I'd also like to make one suggestion on the same note. Back in the army days whenever we were driving our trucks (as pioneers, we had no APC's) in a "combat situation", with a possibility of a ambush, we always had a machine gunner on the roof, and the tents were risen up, so the whole squad in the back could observe the surroundings and return fire if necessary. I'd like to see this in FH2 as well, since it is a combat situation at all times in this game. Maybe not the MG on the roof, as the trucks lack the hatch for it, but surely the tents can be risen up or lost completely, and the riders can be made to be looking the other way, out of the truck.

So, what do you think?

Suggestions / Auto-join feature
« on: 23-09-2010, 20:09:57 »
Long time since I posted here, here goes...

How about a feature that allows you to automatically join a full server as soon as there is a open spot. It would basically be a script or something that would keep trying to the server every 5 seconds or so.

I know that is possible I have seen it in PR ... *ducks*             No boots flying towards my head? No? I thought there would be boots...  Anyway this is one of the few features they have in their custom menu that is actually useful.

Thoughts?

2 months ago the 25th started looking for a partner clan and 130th accepted. Since then we have had joint trainings every other week, with an aim to play bigger maps than the 16 player versions are. However we feel that these would be even more fun, if we had some more people. That is why we are looking for more clans to join these trainings.

It is no secret that times are tough for FH2 clans at the moment, one of the reasons being that people are tired of playing infantry only battles on desert maps. This is why we should all work together and start holding joint trainings, for example playing on a 64 player map with 4 clans. This would be a chance for all of us to train on tactics on a squad level, definitely a better option than having no trainings at all.

Everything regarding this (the time, the freaquency of trainings, the maps we play...) is a matter of negotiations.

If you are interested, reply to this thread, or you can reach us at www.130panzer.com and http://25-hunyadi.extra.hu/ Lets get through the hard times together.
