General Discussion / Re: Mines and markers
« on: 10-09-2009, 22:09:32 »
hmm, if your on about placing mines so enemy tanks go over them, why not try to fool them and place your markers in a different spot so the enemy think theres mines there and goes a different way and falls for your trap, thats what i did on el alamein and it worked!!, must've been a noob but who cares noobs fall for everything :P.

Anyways if you want guys on your team to not get team killed by your mines, try warning them where you placed your mines which should usually help you from getting tk's and getting punished.

i have to agree on the beautiful detail of the maps too, the grass around you "some fields have tall grass" make perfect hiding places from enemy tanks or enemy infantry trying to find you!, especially those hedgerows on luttich perfect for anti-tank ambushes :P seeing the face of a tanker while he see's his tank being pwned from out of nowhere is priceless :P

my favourite allied tanks are the achilles, firefly, cromewell and churchill...i dunno why, i just love them, i'd say our tanks were just as good as the americans sherman tanks, since we pimp/modify our stuff and make it perform better :P

Next Week! We're Going To Pimp Out This Sherman!, And Call It A Firefly! :P

i know, why do people taxi to get into another vehicle, i can understand doing that with planes cos they did that in real life especially with B17s and lancasters before they were going on a bombing raid...but for tanks, they should at least let someone whos been waiting along time, to use it, not team kill them -_-;;

Noobs ruin this game/mod for me, but im still going to play it because there are decent players out their that play it properly :)

Only problem with apcs is though, they are still vulnerable to anti-gun fire and tanks etc. so my suggestion is, use them to get as close to a flag as possible, just make sure no anti-tank stuff is around though :/ (goodwood isn't a good place to use APCS since goodwood is basically alot of fields)

i hate noobs and dumbasses that teamkill you just so they can grab the sniper rifle or STG44 or whatever off you :/ that annoys me the most..

actually most of those maps are in normandy...apart from market garden which is in holland...but then again normandy was just allies advancing through the bocage and french towns n villages...surely it can spread to holland and germany?, its still europe isn't it?.

72
yeah, thats what i mean!, you accidentally shoot them or kill them and then they punish you, its downright unfair and stupid!!

I really like the operation goodwood map, it has vast open wide fields for massive tank battles and a nice little town for some nice close quarter fighting or using your anti-tank weapons :P

One of my other best moments was when i was on goodwood and i was squad leader and i was spotting for artillery i was in a dried out grassfield and camouflaged me really well, i noticed some sniper fire coming from the church, so i used my binoculars and pressed the fire button on the binoculars, soon the artillery came down on the church and i saw the german sniper fall out of the window and hit the floor, so i was thinking to myself "he won't be bothering any of our lads again!" i then turned my attention to the 88 anti-tank guns which were in cagny and called in artillery to destroy them, it really helped the allies win that round, and i contributed to the victory by dealing with threats that could've turned the battle the other way round in the favour of the axis!.

I do have a funny moment too, i was on point du hoc and i was climbing the rope and as i was climbing something funny happend, you know when you play call of duty 2 and your climbing the rope and 2 guys get killed and fall to their deaths, well thats what happend on the point du hoc map, i was climbing the rope and one of our guys gets killed and falls passed me!, i was like, LOL! it made me laugh for ages, it still makes me laugh thinking about it lol.

heres a few suggestions that i found on wikipedia of military engagements in 1944!.

Battle of the Scheldt - Decisive Canadian victory, solved the logistical problems of the Allies, and opened the port of Antwerp for supplies directly to the front.

Operation Elephant - Allied offensive against a German bridgehead at Kapelsche Veer in the Netherlands.

Operation Varsity - 134 Allied gliders land troops in Weisel.

Operation Queen    - was a joint British-American operation during World War II at the Western Front between Aachen and the Rur river.

Battle of Crucifix Hill - The 18th Infantry, U.S. 1st Infantry Division take Crucifix Hill, a crucial position to help surround Aachen. Cpt. Bobbie E. Brown wins a Medal of Honor for his heroics.

Battle of Arnhem - The major battle of Operation Market Garden; Allies reach but fail to cross the Rhine; British First Airborne Division destroyed.

I know these might be a little bit too much but i think they would make some pretty awesome map ideas for normandy!, arnhem could work pretty well because of the horsa glider or even Pegasus Bridge!, Or even Caen itself, caen would make a pretty awesome cityfight map, where the allies must secure caen from the defendin german forces..or even operation charnwood?.
