bayonets
« on: 05-05-2009, 11:05:04 »
I've searched the forum couldn't find this suggestion yet so maybe some1 can help me out here or crush my dream, I just want an anwer...

I remember fromt he FHT pacific thunder tournament that you could attach your bayonet and fire from the hip with a LMB and RMB combination (my beloved FH 0.7). Is this also possible with the Battlefield 2 engine? Instead of zooming in you stab and firing is just from the hip when bayonet attached?

I really, really, really, want to know why that abomination of an engine was allowed to be released in such a state.

It was made after the needs for Battlefield 2, that game didn't needed such things as multiple other things the devs struggle with. They didn't made that engine for mods but for their own game  :P

But BF1942 had such a versatile and efficient engine.  :-\

What if it was put in like the automatic weapons that have select fire.  You know how when you press 3 it will switch between single shot and full auto.  Instead could the bayonet animation be out all the time...you press 3 for rifle...3 again for bayonet.  Anything is better than having to attach your bayonet while you are trying to use it.

The feeling "I'm going to sue DICE" keeps getting back to me... First this crappy BF 2 engine and a vanilla game full of bugs and hacks, then a comic version of my beloved BF game, then a crappy remake of 1942... Let's see what Bad Company 2 brings to the Battlefield collection...  :-\

Anyway thx for the answers guys  :D , I love this mod since I first played 0.7 on a crappy old PC  :-* , can't wait to see what Normandy is going to bring (*first of all I hope more players*)  ;D

No way in hell. But with it being made for WW2, was more suited to our needs.

Sorry for digging this thread from its grave but i have question.

So it can't be done so that when "shooting" from hip, you would use bayonet and when aiming, you would fire? And if thats not possible (as i think  ::)), can't it be done sameway as in Project Realitys SVT bayonet.

Bayonets always attached? That was quite rare. I think you underestimate the weight of a bayonet, it hinders when you try to aim with your rifle because it puts extra weight at the front of the barrel.

Actually, the mosin nagant is more accurate with the bayonet attached...it was actually designed to be fired with bayonet.  As for other rifles, its pretty much the same accuracy, give or take a little.  The extra weight can unbalance the rifle, but it can also make it easier to deal with kick and muzzle climb.

If it's only positive for the rifleman why do we rarely see them attached?
