Hi there VolkssturmGewehr ....  8)

Can you help me learn the navmeshing ? (PM me).

FH2 has a bigger co-op playerbase than you'd think. (Look at the view count on the threads in the SP/Co-Op forum.)

Yes. Yet there has always been this attitude problem floating around against coop/bot/ai/solo whatever you want to call them players. It's one of the reasons we lost Djinn, Mr. AI enthusiastic cheer leader himself. He dogged me for literally -swear word- years about making a smoke grenade that blocks bot vision. When someone finally put it together and I tested it in game he was no longer around. No news releases on the front page promising improved bot action for coop players (yes, I know the devs have to focus on the MP end of things of course they do). No news releaases highlighting the hard work of FH fans doing unofficial conversions (not that they would want a news release /i cannot speak for them). Now the BFSP forum has discovered how to replicate fire suppression against the AI ! You'd think this would be cause for rejoicing and all round merry making in this forum section. That and the smoke grenade is at the very least an impressive feature for training against bots before going into full blown online human only games (that's the attitude of Project Reality who regard Solo/Coop as a training mode). But so far I'm still feeling that as a Solo FH player I have to stay quiet and stay in the background while MP players get all the "glory". I would always support online MP FH fan's as I can only imagine that the game becomes even more amazing there (there are various reasons I can't play in human only MP games that I won't go into here, but one reason is I sometimes need to pause the game).

I find co-op to be incredibly fun especially the maps I have customized to be more bot/co-op friendly.

Same here. From day 1 FH always had an effect on me that no other game has. The FH "magic".

One of the things I find difficult when fighting bots is their reaction time. They can shoot accurately from the hip, thus in the time it takes a human player to raise iron sights, the bot can already be firing.

You'd think no one has ever seen The Matrix films. Sometimes you have to have the reaction times and bullet dodging skills of Neo.

Dear Everyone,

just a reply from our side, since I just had to clean up a link to this thread here.

In the [762] forums, we do not distribute ways to:

a) circumvent bans (which this software is).
b) to download a copyrighted game, which BF2 still is.

We already have enough problems with people behaving like madmen or cheating on our servers.

There is a reason that battlelog.co was closed down BY REQUEST OF EA Games.
See for yourself: https://battlelog.co/
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/10/ea-shuts-down-fan-run-servers-for-older-battlefield-games/

Step 2 would have been a lawsuit. We cannot afford to have that at [762] .
If the forums at warumdarum.de want to risk that, it is their business.

You can contact each other via PM, but we will delete any reference to distribution links of copyrighted material in our forums.

If there ever is a legal, self made standalone for an Forgotten Hope game, we will gladly spread the word, that is no question. We just hope that there will be a new CD Key- or other security system with it, because if not it will be next to impossible to run a decent server without having lots of admins watching it every evening and re-banning the trouble makers over and over again (what we are doing right now).

Regards,
x4fun I<ODIUM>I

Project Reality have been doing this for yonks. I suspect they have a friend in EA/DICE. But does FH have that friend ? And is this really very wise ?  I know EA/DICE currently do not have the game on sale but the multi million (billion?) video game business is a fast moving place these days. I suspect they have a team that have already created an "HD" version of BF2 with support for something like Steam Workshop (or some similar system on Origin) and are just waiting for the right time to release it. It's still their IP and I would guess the license specifically forbids mods distributing the actual game executable's. I want to see more FH players but I don't want to see FH mod get into trouble.

Singleplayer and Coop / Re: Sammatus map crashing
« on: 07-07-2019, 12:07:08 »
Then how is that comment useful here ? This fellow wants to play with bots (and/or Coop with bots/humans). I'm telling him he can get a rock steady game using a server. Do you have something against Coop/Solo play ? Because I certainly would not criticise playing online with your "humans with brains" as you put it. We're all here to have fun in what ever way.

Bug Reporting / Re: Autocannon bug
« on: 06-07-2019, 21:07:02 »
Would love to.

My current theory after comments on Discord about it being due to server lag (bad ping, or ping spikes) is that adjusting "Usersettings.con" might help. I can see how the problem would arise on internet servers but its a bit a mystery why I'm getting it on a local LAN server. I am not getting rubberbanding/skating and any of that lag where soldiers and vehicles "hop around" (a breakdown of the interpolation that BF2 uses to smooth out events) so why this autocannon thing ? I can only guess that it's a quirk in BF2 bought out by intense FH2 dev team tweaking of the game (it must take the engine to the edge of what it was designed for).

Singleplayer and Coop / Re: Sammatus map crashing
« on: 06-07-2019, 20:07:36 »
I am constantly getting CTD on co-op Sammatus maps with bots, both 16 and 64. It happens always when I select a weapon and click to join the game, regardless of the amount of bots, selected weapon, and team. My game version is 3.4.666. There is no error message, BF2 just closes suddenly. Any leads?

I've read there could be some AI bugs with stationary weapons causing this type of crash.

There are so few WW2 FPS games which deal with the Continuation War and Winter War, so I'd really like to play those FH2 maps!

Are you starting a game from inside the client (BF2 game menu) ? I have CTD's myself when I start a game this way.  jan_kurator is right ... either join a coop server on the internet that has bots or run your own server on your local network and connect to that which is what I do. I have found Coop games started this way to be rock solid apart from the occasional map that really does have a bug and will crash server side as well, in which case it should be reported to Darman (Forgotten Maps and unofficial bot support for latest FH maps).

Bug Reporting / Autocannon bug
« on: 06-07-2019, 16:07:26 »
Hi,

I've started noticing this again now I'm playing on a dedicated server. This bug was described here (there is a video of it further down the page). There is a single reference to "autocannon" in this forum section (apart from this post) that seems intriguing as it mirrors the behaviour I've seen. Multiple cannon firings and then I can hear multiple hits on my tank (the metal hull resonating sound).

My server has a ping from between 31 to 109 and is running across a local LAN network between a Linux machine (server) and a Windows machine running the client. I do not get this bug when I start a server from within the client (no dedicated server).

Would be nice to fix this as even though it's cool to have a German "super weapon" this is not an "alternative history" WW2 mod.

Bug Reporting / Re: How To Report Singleplayer and AI Bugs
« on: 06-07-2019, 11:07:05 »
Is this stickied post still valid ? Due to RL concerns I have not been attending to this bug tracker. Also FH dev team have their own bug tracker somewhere (never seen it but you must have) which could well be recording any Coop/SP issues by now. If need be I could "resurrect" the bug tracker if it could be useful in any way.

Cheers. I wrote this bash script to automatically check for the missing file. It has to be copied to the levels directory and "Sounds.con" needs to be in the directory above. This is using the official installable Linux console in Windows 10 ...

Code: [Select]
#!/bin/bash
# Iterate through zip files adding missing file that should be there.

# Change to directory that script was called from.
# cd $(dirname $0)
for i in `ls -d *`;
  do
    # Don't replace the file if it's already there.
    echo Scanning $i ...
    if ! zipinfo -1 $i/server.zip | grep -Fqx "Sounds.con"
    then
        echo Adding "Sounds.con" to $i ...
        zip -vu $i/server.zip ../Sounds.con
    fi
  done

FH2 Help / Support / Re: Maps load extremely slowly
« on: 30-06-2019, 22:06:56 »
Once had a problem like that with punkbuster verifyong files very slowly. I completely removed and reset my profile in MyDocuments in the FH directory and it fixed the problem. I also verified all BF2 files (if you have the Steam version).

You need to install the latest Windows BF2 dedicated server. The FH server files download includes all the files you put on the server side mod folder as well as FH versions of the dedicated server executables. Linux version is in the bin directory.

Singleplayer and Coop / Re: Singleplayer in Forgotten Hope 2
« on: 29-06-2019, 22:06:12 »
I probably missed the new release for this but I did not know these two extra SP/Coop maps has been added in the patch. so I wanted to give some feed back for the new SP/Coop maps in FH 2.55 ...

Lenino .... friggin amazing ! The bots are all in the trenches AND getting tanks from the rear lines. Sometimes on SP/Coop maps all the tanks end up unused at the back of the lines. Not here. The entire thing erupts into a fierce fire fight and even though I got to the last point before the final German point I was constantly thrown back just when I thought I was going to get an easy win.

Studienka ... LOTS of tanks again. Did not have as much time to play this but it reminds me of an old Battlegroup Frontlines map that has a large bridge. So far looks very good for SP/Coop apart from the AI getting stuck at the long bridge and you have to them a rear shove up the back side and then they start going across  :D ... I don't know they might use it sometimes as I did not play for very long.

Thanks for the hard work that undoubtedly goes into the navmeshing for these maps  8)

Wow. This looks interesting. Is this one of the new fh2 maps with the new content ? What ever it is any new coop/sp maps are welcome !  ;D

Hi,

I'm currently troubleshooting a crash I get after playing for a while. Sometimes after about 10 minutes, other times longer as for example in my last game it crashed after an hour and ten minutes.

I can play the same map (Mount Olympus, official version, unmodified) using the FH2 debugger OK.

However the debugger has one problem. Extremely annoying flickering corpse textures ...

Is there a way of fixing that ?

BTW my other mods (for example AIX2 Minimod) in the same installation play without any crashes.

Modding / Re: FH2 Modding Q&A
« on: 28-06-2019, 13:06:49 »
Hi. I'm attempting again to learn how to add a navmesh and to fix already existing navmeshes. However I've had multiple false starts. I'm looking for a very clear step by step tutorial that can teach me how to do this. Cheers.

Modding / Re: [Files] Forgotten Hope 2 Mapping Files

Hi. Is there an updated debugger version of ForgottenHope2_r.exe and its associated files ? Or is that not even necessary or not even possible ?
