Boing Boing has a nice, short video about the Armored vehicle collection of the late Jacques Littlefield, which according to danger room is "the largest private collection of armored vehicles," with over 300 vehicles. Not extensive coverage, but a short, fun little video for us tank nuts.

Great collection! I´m really impressed by how well preserved those tanksa re, although they´re quite old. This museum is located in the USA, right?
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,

Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Damn...it's sad to see that Littlefield is dead :( At least he managed to finish his panther before he died.

Hilarious fact about the sherman's ammo though  :P

It wasn't finished actually. The turret wasn't done yet etc.

Is that the guy the Mudra hates for destroying a perfectly good StuG's transmission by trying to tow his truck out the mud?  Or is that someone else?

EDIT:  Did some searching and it is the same guy, except he was trying to tow a car out of mud, not a truck.  Also, Mudra really hates him.  In a memorial thread over at FF, he didn't say anything but confirming his animosity towards the guy.  He's dead, let it rest, vM.  At least his widow is keeping the AFVs as some sort of museum (or something?).

You'd also want to check out the General George Patton Museum, down in Fort Knox, Kentucky, the United States Army Ordnance Museum, in Arberdeen proving grounds, Maryland (where the really big guns go to die), the National Air and Space Museum, in Washington DC on the National Mall, and its larger country annex, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, in Virginia.

Some sexy panoramas from the Udvar-Hazy center:
Central Catwalk
Ground Floor, near concorde
The Space Room (which also has a bunch of missiles, including WW2 Nazi ones)

Some pics from Aberdeen:
Tanks
K5 railway gun "Anzio Annie"
Their restored "Elefant"

And some pics from Fort Knox:
Cutaway Tiger II (not sure if it is real or diorama)
Panther tank
T-28
Some cold war tanks
Got Quicktime? How about time for a virtual tour then?

Very much agreed....

And aberdeen is even worse.  Most of those tanks are nothing but rust buckets now.  There's no attempt to keep them in working order, or even looking nice.  They've rusted so much that the ground is now a biohazard from all the heavy metals=/

The Aberdeen Proving Grounds?

I was there not long ago. There are really cool vehicles that I was glad to see in person. Like the various Panthers... Tigers and quite a few other not so common tanks. But, most of them still have battle damage (i.e large dents, etc).. and are rusty. They have some original WW1 tanks just sitting out side.. whilst they have a Stuart tank and a few jeeps inside the museum, makes no sense to me.

Still they were cool to see, but I think they should have re-done the bodys in the battle damaged and rusted areas, painted them correctly, and put them indoors.

I mean honestly, they have a beautiful re-painted Char-S35 just sitting out doors.
