Title: Suggestions to finding items on the map;
Post by: nickm on 07-04-2011, 03:04:32
Guys:

Need a hint about something: How do I find the ammo crates to resupply with;

Also...finding crew served weapons on the map; do they have icons to designate them: AT Guns, AA Guns, GPMGs, rocket mortars etc...

thanks ahead of time;

1. Ammo crates are usually located near the flags.

2. Yes they do:

Thanks for the map explanation;
 The ammo crates are JUST near the flags? Do they at least show up on the map as 'something'?

Thx

And even veteran players like myself have trouble locating them in every level... ;)

But there are also ammo trucks, and pickup engineer kits (instead of a satchel charge you get "deployable" ammo). Not sure if halftracks resupply anymore.

Halftracks resupply infantries, but not vehicles.

Do you really need the ammo crates?  I can count the number of times I ran out of ammo on the fingers of one arm... Well except for the AT kit...

YES - grenades, AT bombs and charges, and especialy mines. Not for bullets, at least not often... But for all the others... oh, and bandages :)

There is a way to make map images that mark ammo and health. I'm currently using a perl script to produce such maps for Battlegroup42 (http://battlegroup42.djbarney.org/). It could be modified for BF2 but would need some discussion as there might be some players who object to the effects on multiplayer game play.
