Next time, aim under your target.  The rear sight on the Gew98 is graduated to 400 yards, which was supposed to be roughly the firing line engagement distance for German infantry tactics in 1914.  So you gotta aim well under your target in order to hit center at 100 yards.
I always aim low with all of my military rifles -- they are all sighted out to a minimum of 200 meters/yards and thus all shoot high. This one wasn't any exception. So far I've found that out of all of my rifles, my Gew 88 appears to be sighted the highest.

Here's a new shooting video for you all, featuring some Mosins, Schmidt-Rubin 1896, and even an MG42!

I took the Gew 98 out to the range last week and everything seems to work great. I got some decent groups for the first time out. Luckily the trigger is fantastic. Here's a gallery with some pics:

That is a great find! Congratulations on your new rifle.
Thanks! I took it apart last night and it's pretty dirty. Hopefully the bore is in good shape under all the grime! I'll post pictures when it's reassembled in it's cleaner state.

Hey all. I went to a gunshow and picked up a new rifle yesterday. It's a Czech Gewehr 98 built in the BRNO arsenal, probably pre-WWI. It fires 8mm. Once I realized what I was looking at I couldn't pass it up! These pics are from immediately coming home from the show, so I haven't had a chance to clean it yet. I'll post pics of the rifle after its rejuvenation!

While we're on the topic of looking for things, I've been on the hunt for a cleaning rod for my Gew. 88 Commission Rifle. They're really hard to find and, when they do pop up, are way over priced. Does anyone know a source for reproduction rods or reasonably priced originals? Here's the rifle btw, in case you haven't seen it:

Great update guys ... the map looks mind-blowing as usual. Hopefully it gets released soon so that we have something to keep us busy until the Eastern Front comes out.

I've got a short shooting vid for you all ... this was back in August when me and some friends took out our rifles and decided to shoot them in salvos :D

Quite the adorable rifle, she looks beautiful!

How will the in-game stats for the M38 & M44 compare to those of the M91/30? Range, accuracy, lethality etc.

Always been curious if there were any differences between the two (similar to the Carcano's)
very little for the common soldier. At 300 meter being your engagement range, thats where the carbines still did the same job as the M91./30

The main diffrence however, being the recoil. The M91/38 and 44 have much heavier recoil
I don't think the recoil difference is that noticeable, having fired both variants many many times. I think the biggest difficulty with the M38/M44 compared to the regular 91/30 is the shorter sight radius, which makes it more difficult to pull off long distance shots. Also, due to this radius, the front sight appears noticeably larger, further making precise long shots harder.

A much lesser factor that wouldn't have an impact on gameplay is that the shorter size is easier to handle in close quarters (and a bit lighter overall). Also, the longer barrel on the 91/30 would increase muzzle velocity hypothetically increasing its range, but I don't think you would notice that at FH2 firing distances most of the time.

I like the idea of movable statics, but I think in order for it to be in the vanilla version of FH2, these deployable weapon "ammo boxes" should be dropped from behind vehicles like trucks to simulate how they would be moved in real life.

This would also solve some of the inevitable exploiting, since a truck/APC is limited in where it can go to deploy the statics. It's pretty hard to get a truck up a set of stairs or on top of a haystack ;)

Why did'nt they let you take pot shots at the river with those mg's? that is the only thing that went through my mind when looking at the video.
I wish! Unfortunately the guns all looked to be deactivated -- the top turret was crankable though!

Holy shit that's cooler than the other side of the pillow. :D

My Grandfather was a B-24 Pilot so I always wondered what similar types of bombers were like on the inside.

Do you have any more standalone pics of the inside? Particularly the turret gunners cockpits? I was always interested to know how these functioned. :)
Unfortunately I don't have too many good shots of the turret gunner cockpits. The plane was bouncing around so much and I had limited time so that I could only get limited footage/photos. Here are all of the images I captured of the B-25. Hopefully something is of interest to you!

... and it was AWESOME. The Commemorative Air Force came to my home town of New Orleans and brought with them a B-25, B-29, B-17, B-24, Helldiver, P-51, and a few other planes to look at, explore, and take rides in. Nearly all of the aircraft in the CAF's national 126-aircraft fleet are in flying condition.

The first day I basically just paid the entrance fee to see the aircraft and explore them, but I was talked into buying a ride by a friend and some pilots with the CAF. The next morning I went up in their B-25J for 45 minutes and have no regrets. The B-25 is one of my all-time favorite planes, so it was an unforgettable experience.

I took plenty of footage and photos while I was up and compiled them into the video, below. Enjoy!

Wow how did I not know this thread exists? Well time to post some recent videos of my arsenal. Some of these might be repeats from the Militaria thread so sorry if you've already seen some of them.

Video of friends and I shooting my friend's M1 Garand (which he's leaving with me while he studies in Germany for a year):

Another month, another shooting video. Here's one of friends an I firing my Gewehr 1888, Finnish Mosin M91, and my friend's M1 Garand. It was a great time, despite the muggy/wet conditions. Be sure to watch til the end -- there's some Garand rapid fire in there!
