for me this is normal, just hit cancel and continue to name the object, then just change to the object you want in the tweak section on the lower left.

From my mapping experience, i would suggest to first focus on the major items and leave the minor details for last.

  • start with an overall map plan (this may evolve as the map develops)
  • form, detail, color the major areas of the terrain (bf2 tpaint)
  • large static placement (buildings, tents, fences, etc)
  • overgrowth placement
  • details (small statics, terrain adjustments, minor vegetation, undergrowth, roads, ambient sounds, etc)
  • gameplayobjects (control points, spawns, vehicles, etc)

This is close to the format i find helpful for me to develop maps much quicker, hopefully this will help you a little. Good luck!
