Gran Torino was amazing, but its def not the end to Clint's career. He's already working on another movie we as speak ;)
Short question. Is this on movies running in the cinemas atm only, or may we also say something on movies we randomly saw on tv?I don't see why not, I myself hardly ever go to the cimena (once a year or less?) and more commonly watch movies on DVD or on TV.
Gran Torino was amazing, but its def not the end to Clint's career. He's already working on another movie we as speak ;)
That's why I said "acting career"
May he live forever as an director

Does Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog count as a movie? It is by far the best piece of cinematography that I've seen in 2009 (if it was longer I'd say 2008 too), but its only 40 minutes and never made it too TV or the theaters.I loved that one

I saw "Apocalypse Now Redux" today.
Needless to say:
10/10
Knowing (2009)That movie was a massive waste of my life. Nicholous Cage needs to stand back and take a nice long look at his career thus far... and needs to realize that he needs to stop making shitty movies.
Er...I don't know where to start really. One strange movie to say the least. Nicolas Cage is a bit of a let down at times - playing the only character he can play; the bumbling, confused, but honest and caring figure that got stuck with the job of trying to save the day - or universe - again. His acting passes off most of the time throughout the film, but there is some moments were you can see he is struggling.
The special effects are great - in particular the scene that blew me away was the plane crash, and another one I won't mention for spoiler reasons.
The movie was so-so, thinking about it, but I was curiously drawn into it. The film is a bit pants, but it has charm. The movie can be quite genuinely scary at times, but the ending will leave you bewildered.
It's just one of those films were it isn't sure what it's supposed to be.
Worth a look, if just for the plane crash scene alone - that scene will leave an impression on you.

:D Finally, someone else who has seen it! I still spontaneously break into song when I'm walking to class and whatnot. (Look at these people, Amazing how sheep'll come to the slaughter.)
For anyone who has not seen it:
For Americans there is Hulu (http://www.hulu.com/watch/28343/dr-horribles-sing-along-blog)
For people outside the U.S. there is youtube. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apEZpYnN_1g)
Hmmm...Really?
Well the Last Movie I saw was Rambo V (I believe thats the one, well, if not, its the newest one that just came out a year or so ago).
...and all else apple said
I'm so ashamed: all the movies I see now are Netflix, either online or home delivery. I haven't been to a theater in 3-4 years.

That's not a bad thing, going to a theater now is better spent buying two dinner it is that expensive.
I pay 7 Euro as a student. Where do you pay such a low price? :o
I pay 7 Euro as a student. Where do you pay such a low price? :o
When I was in England we went to see some movies there, aswell. F*ckin expensive! Like 8 or 9 Pounds just for the movie (that was at the time when the Pound was remarkably stronger than the Euro, last summer ^^)
Little half-related question, what does "Viewer discretion advised" mean in american TV?
and that's butchered with the whole "oooh look at me I can go out in the sunlight" thing.
Oh, and if you believe that "in every awkward silence, a gay baby is born" then Twilight's acting could populate an entire San Francisco neighborhood. ;)

I saw it about a week ago on a video night with some friends of mine ::) they also rented Pearl Harbor, because apparently I'm "into WW2 and stuff" but I talked them out of it.Oh you got punked! :D
Anybody seen Max Manus yet?
Saw "Blood Diamond" yesterday and I must say that it´s really good. Very touching, covers the topic very well and the actores are good.I really like that movie, I was prepared for total BS but I think DiCaprio and the gang did a great job

Defiance: (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1034303/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1034303/))I found Defiance to be OUTSTANDING! Daniel Craig was simply brilliant, the story was moving and felt fresh despite the tirelessly used WWII setting, and the sound track was utterly fantastic. It was written as a violin concert I believe for Joshua Bell... I'm buying it as soon as it arrives on CD.

The most ridiculous film I have ever seen, Seagal plays a vampire hunter...
Anyone got a review for "Der rote Baron", it's got Leana Headey in it -sccchhhwing! Looks awesome, it was out last year but went under my radar at least. (forgive the WWI pun at non-existent radar systems).

I can second that score. An awesome movie. :)
Meet the SpartansUghh... this was such an intensely terrible film that its name should never be repeated.
Hired this one today. It has some nice scenes and parodies, but some get repetive(Exept the "Yo momma" scene, that one was 10/10) Some where funny, some where not
Overal=6/10
Gran Torino. Others have said something about it already, not much to add, good film. 8-9/10.
Cloverfield. Not bad, didn't want to watch it, thought it was a pure Godzilla clone. Then got the tip by a friend and liked it, the handcam-style is not new (Blair Witch) but works really good with that movie, although it needs much more care in this scenario compared to BWP. Everything fits it fine except a few small details. 7-8/10.
Hahaha nice Fresne, but I think I can put something on top:

I remember, a few years ago, I completely darkened my room, put this thing up and staired in the middle of it for like three of four minutes, then quickly put the light back on. I SAW EVERYTHING IN GRAYSCALE for half a minute and the whole room was waving like melting cheese!
Um, I haven't seen any presidents yet, but I'm looking out for Taft. Ooh, and Jimmy Carter!Hahaha nice Fresne, but I think I can put something on top:

Holy Craaaaap Schneiger...
After about three minutes I started to see the faces of presidents past floating serenely in the background, organized in an elaborate fractal pattern. And everything is now in greyscale, too.
UP (2009)High Five! :D

Who else loved Up?
Terminator Salvation
- Big explosions and expensive. But, beyond that this movie is cheaper and dumber in almost every aspect.

Just seen Valkerie on Dvd. It's ok, it gets the story over well to those unaware I guess. I've seen similar and as good drama documentaries about the plot on History channels. 7/10 Eddie Izzard? As a German officer eh? ;D
REVIEW Operation Walküre
Tom Cruise delivering yet more stunning method acting to historical characters really takes on the task in his new blockbuster Operation valkaryie. Sources say that Cruise, having managed to harness the power of time travel using Katie Holmes's tears, was able to go back in time to March 1943 and meet Stauffenberg coaching Stauffenberg on how to be just a bit more Tom Cruise. In a bold move Cruise remoulded Stauffenberg to be a cardboard hollywood actor, unable to produce fluid dialogue, only capable of long stares into nothing and shouting when the word "emotive" was penned into the script.
yea Rawhide, SPR is so awesome... I saw it on the 6th of june in HD version ;D epicness.Oh, I'm so gonna see District 9
I saw District 9 yesterday, pretty cool also! Peter Jackson is also the man 8) 7/10 at least!
Indeed an epic movie. and the Helicopter attack scene is just something you want to rewatch
9/10
Genius movie, one of the best I've ever seen, definately in my top 5. When he gets to that insane colonel it all gets a bit confusing and too much talking even takes away your attention after a while. But all combat is genius, overall acting is also genius. Love some of the scenes as the one with the chaotic camp or trench. And ofcourse the Valkyrie helicopter scene, super classic.
O´rly? Well, thats your opinion. But I think that you need at least a very special humor for this. In my opinion this movie is just awesome.I had a few laughs as well, but it's not near the caliber that Tarantino usually have
Tarantino is so overrated imo. Im rarely so bored i was as seeing Kill Bill. Pulp F is good enough, nothing special.
It's the mindset you need to watch the movie.Hey man, my mind was open as Paris Hilton's you know what ;)
If you enter it and expect a comedy you will be in for a disappointment, but if you go and watch it without any reference to former Taratino movies it is awesome. I had so much fun figuring out what scene is a copy from another film and the entire character set is so well chosen.
Kill Bill was boring as hell compared to this.
Godfather I and II...Aw, I was so close to rewatching Part I and II today but drunkenness and women came in first.
Both very good movies, but the second one lacks some Brando.

Knowing (2009) Starring Nicholas Cage
This movie was done perfectly, except one big, retarded flaw: The Ending. This movie suffers from Highlander Syndrome. The ending was so ridiculously retarded that this movie was not worth the 15 minutes of idiocy displayed in the end of the film.
0/5
... than Nicolas Cages wooden performance.
George Lucas debut movie, Francis Ford Coppola as executive producer and Robert Duvall as the main character.
THX 1138
I've always been fascinated with books and movies about "control-societies", like 1984 etc.
This movie is about one man (THX 1138, or Robert Duvall) who is a normal grunt working with building robots (robots who, when done, are used for policing and guardin duties). THX 1138 falls in love with his roommate LUH and later on he becomes chased and finally manages to escape the city, out from the grasp of the evil government.
A fairly good movie, the subject really interests me and that gives it a big plus. However it was a bit slow and... "sterile", luckily it was onle 180 minutes.
I would give this 7/10, much thanks to Robert Duvall's performance.
Have you seen Brazil? Or City of Lost Children (french film)? Both are this controlled society idea. Watch it. Or even blade runner
"are you crazy Dave is that your problem?"
"What the fuck is Gracey Law doing here?"
Big Trouble is one great movie.
The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.
OMG. It was Mind blowing! 10/10! ;D
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs... yeah, yeah... I know.. But hey, I thought overall it was actually pretty decent. Buck was awsome... some intense flight sequences, crude humor - funny.. worth the time to watch I guess. 7.5/10Some nice animation there, eh? ;)
Law Abiding Citizen
Acting was very good. Plot was also very good if not a little predictable at times. Overall a must see in theaters. I thought the ending was a bit weak but that may have been just me.

Rocky Horror Picture Show 10/10
Funny, Sexy, Great songs, Great dances. Favorite musical of all time.
Seen the stage show, seen the movie. ;D
Give yourself over to absolute pleasure. Swim the warm waters of sins of the flesh - erotic nightmares beyond any measure, and sensual daydreams to treasure forever. Can't you just see it? Don't dream it, be it.

Great CGI and special effects.
Loved some of the conceptual design in the film.

Sauna is an impressive experience, solid in just about every department. Extremely strong lead, nice and fitting visuals, great soundtrack and intriguing storyline. And if you won't miss the climaxes, this will be exactly your thing. A recommendation for all fans of European horror out there. Just don't be expecting guts and gore, Sauna plays at atmosphere, grit and travels through the darker parts of the human mind.
Watched the Legend of Chu Li... don't watch it. It was awful, I mean really awful.
0/10
It was either New Moon with Girlfriend or Nefes with a load of Friends.. I honestly dont facking remember...
New Moon.. Eh it was facking Depressing and Robert Pattinsons head is too huge and Jacobs hair is too long ffs... And that Bella bitch studders too much ffs.
Nefes was facking weird... How does 2 Platoon's of Turkish Commando's get wiped out by some fucking ragheads with a Kalashnikov.. And wtf the Commander is litterally playing around and calling out the Enemy. BUT very emotional and over all good movie.

Easily comparable to Snatch, probably even better. A masterpiece by Guy Ritchie. Everything, from the pictures, to the music, to the fantastic one-liners.

The Football Factory
Fantastic depiction of the book with the same name. Danny Dyers is PERFECT as the cockney chelsea football fan. It really feels like "this is for real".
Depsite the title, there is never any football in the film (other than glimpses of a junior team playing)
It is a bit short, which is one of the downsides with it. However, if it were any longer I feel that it might just be repeating itself.
8/10
Star Trek
- Good Movie, great rebirth of an sci-fi American staple
- Nice effects

Avatar. It was cool.

Are you saying it is good or bad? Because I though it was sweet.
I didn't like Zombieland that much but the Bill Murray part was pretty sweet
Watched Che's both parts and damn gotta say they were damn good movies, especially the first one, but the second didnt leave me cold either. Was very nice watching a movie spoken in spanish rather than in the same old english. Benicio Del Toro did an impressive performance as Ernesto Guevara. Thanks, I doubted if they would be worth watching. But I will now.

You probably belong to that school of thought who believe all three movies were about people walking - LOL

You got that right. That one together with Brotherhood, the best war films ever made.
Downfall is nice too
gran torinoThat one is good too, even though I think some of the young actors could have been better. But Clint Eastwood has always been a favorite of mine. Especially when directed by Sergio Leone
LOTR is good, but just good. I couldn't find why the people like it soo much. Being a fan of the cartoon during my childhood, i think the current LOTR is a totally watered down and being an "unintelligent" version of the original story (which many novel-based movie did). The dialogues in the cartoon itself was said to be simplified a lot from the original novel.
You see a lot of dialogues are clearly emasculated in the movie, losing its epic-ness essence. Just try to connect the story with the typical current-day generally smartass, self-serving, self-righteous, Aussie-like tall poppy syndrome audiences. The critics somehow missed this.
I put the film in the same category with Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor and Transformers. Except LOTR is much much more better. The similarity is that, although the fights, actions, on all movies are epic, they did destroy some part of the movie, like the story in both Bay's movie and in LOTR's case, the dialogues between the characters. But the story of that movie is still good. My favorite would be the Fellowship of the Ring (the first installment), since it is the most understandable for me.
Why do people hate Pearl Harbor so much, I loved that movie
Transformerbays.
At least the 80s had balls to kill Optimus in the first minutes of the movie and had a way cooler plot that didn't revolved around the 'humorous' mishaps of two teens. Devastator ain't got shit on Unicron.
Hey, what are you saying about Michael Bay... Why do people hate Pearl Harbor so much, I loved that movie... Ok, wait a minute, don't -ve rep me! *Runs away*
I thought it was a bit retarded how during he car chase the kid does everthing from swinging on a vine to successfully beating somebody in a sword fight for the first time >:(Well, he has been in a fight before, and most children sword fight at the age of 3 atleast once
City of God. BEST movie I have seen in a long time. It has it all women, guns, drugs and a great personal storyline. I seriously recommend it to everyone. Its a Brazilian movie and got even ranked 16th best movie of all time on IMDb.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan"pussy" :)
Very Racist Film, though very funny, ridiculous...Yeah, I liked it, though some parts i really didn't want to see (ex: Naked hotel fighting scene) which is why I watched the Edited-for-tv version.
eh...6.5/10
I'm serious, you'll hang for that!
Additionally, I watched The Life of Brian few days ago. Maybe not as good as The Holy Grail but still one of the best comedy films ever created. Graham Chapman as Brian was absolutely brilliant, as always.

Kinda preachy then?
Schindler's List
Finished watching it an hour ago.
I guess you have all seen it. Incredible touching film, seen it before though (yes I like rewatching films). I love how it's all building up, how Schindler has planned everything from the beginning (in the end "give them the cigarettes we got, which was mentioned in the beginning).
I really like Liam Neeson, and this is without a doubt his best part. When they give him a ring in the end and he reads what it says and they say "It's hebrew.. it's from the toran and means 'He who saves one life saves the whole world'". When he hears that he gets silent and then starts to nervously fiddle with the ring and drops it. At that moment, when he dropped it, a tear ran down my cheek :)
The Hurt LockerReally? I just read a review in the NY times and it said it was a spectacular film.
Two American soldiers in Iraq with less then a month left before they rotate back home gets a new NCO who's there to help them disarm IED's. And a story regarding the question if the new NCO is out for kicks when it comes to disarming the IED's or if he's out to kill them before they rotate back...
Had some moments here and there during the two hours it went on but still, an overall weak movie.
Stand by me

With such a political forum signature, a little more than quoting another thread title as a response would be nice. I'm not sticking up of Avatar no, no, no... I'm trying to fight against internet ignorance, even though rules of the internet state "your carefully written and reasonable argument haz been ignored for the lulz" - you should be able to come up with something more than "meh" or "Pocahontas redux" even for the lulz...
The story line resembles Pocohantas yes....but who gives a fuck? It's not really about original story. The movie has mind blowing effects and takes film making to a new level. That's what James Cameron does.Thing is that Cameron sort of believes he made those stories up while it's obviously not made up by him. If his stories where original and he wasn't such an douche I would like his work.

I learnt that when I was young, that humans are greedy, some movies had a part in it. It's a view on the world I stand by to this day, and I will never digress from it. Humans are greedy, I have no hope in mankind. This does play in with my following points. People think they are better, but they are not - hypocricy.Avatar 3D

So if you though it was incredibly meh, neither extremely good nor extremely bad, why 2/10? I would have thought 5/10 would be more appropriate for a mediocre film.
Got to see it last night, I don't get why there's such a "meh" internet sensation about this film, almost like it's cool to just say "meh" and carry on. Why is it "meh".
I thought the storyline was American History regurgitated, yes, weak - predictable storyline, right down to the point where I even recognised that a fuck scene was coming up 5 mins before it happened because of the typical melodramatic music score.
But "meh"... Avatar is worth a million more points than "meh". I think what you might be missing here is the underlying social message. Avatar teaches children/ teenagers far more about human nature and the need to "go-green" than any political message or money-centric Hollywood actor crying crocodile tears asking for your help could ever hope to achieve. Imagine yourself as a young impressionable kid once again, not some emotionally dumbed internet stalker, - taking the message on board that humans are by nature greedy, warmongering vengeful sons of bitches, is the one thing that I would want my child to get stuck in it's head. It's time to change all that, put down our guns and start with the peace.
After I watched Avatar I was not just fucking blown away by how visually amazing this film is, and if you disagree with that, what films have you been watching? Because clearly I am behind the time with my films... The CGI is not 100% perfect no, but it's just way out there, it's raised the bar for other CGI heavy films.
I give it a sweet 9/10 if you watched it without the 3D glasses you pissed money down the drain, it has to be seen in 3D to make the most of it.
It kinda bugs me that it takes something like this for people to realize "the nature is valuable!". People, right after having seen avatar, act like "Oh we gotta take care of the earth! avatar really opened my eyes!". Trust me, there's so many people acting like that. I have no respect for anyone who needs an animated multi-billion-dollar movie to tell them that (hypocracy right there). I saw enough of this when Al Gore released "An inconvenient truth". Several people in my class had Al Gore as their new idol, acting as if he was jesus. And all of a sudden they were SO enviromentally aware "I use low-energy lightbulbs, I turn of the water when shampooing", oh yeah? what about that 500 $ gucci purse you just bought? or all those clothes you buy every weekend?
God damn hypocrites.
This is what angers me about it.
I suggest you watch this review in 2 parts:

Just ignore the narrator's voice etc. and focus on the points he's making. I gotta agree on pretty much every single point he makes about the movie.
I simply do not get caught by action, fantasy-worlds and special effects, I need SOME story to keep me entertained.

Man just tell me, you embraced for one second what it might be like to fuck a 12ft tall smurfette? I must rid myself of this sin, but I need to know I am not alone.Imagining not necessary, this is the internet. Rule 34 applies, just get out there and find it.

Enemy at the Gates
Hollywood and the battle of Stalingrad. Not the best combination, still entertaining. Jude Law as the protagonist sniper of the Soviet Army. Who becomes an icon and role model for the Soviet people thanks to the propaganda papers.
A good reason for the Wehrmacht to send in their top man. Played by no less then Badass Harris (his real name).
As I said, Hollywood and the battle of Stalingrad. Not less, not more.
anyone seen Sherlock Holmes yet? heard really good things about it, and guy ritchie is amazing.my brother saw it, he said it was good, and well worth watching.
Thinking of watching it tonight.

I expected it to be as crap as VAN HELSING or such, I enjoyed it ok... looks like they will make a sequal too (Im sure)

Maverick 7.5/10
A fun, light hearted western with a great twist at the end. Not a great movie, but an entertaining one that will keep you smiling all the way through it.
Moon 8.5/10
Intense, good, entertaining. I wish they had focused more on the psychological aspect of it, but hey, you get what you get. Saw it with my parents, so I had to mark it up by 0.5 cause they invariably make the experience worse, and it'll be better for you guys. (for instance, asking me to explain things that were obvious plot mysteries, and then both of them staring at me questioningly for ten seconds when I didn't tell them the ending to a movie I had never seen before.)
Oh, Ted. We do share many interests, TAWP is one of my favorite comedies, it's one of those movie I at least see one time per year.Yeah me too :) I still have fond memories of watching it the first time in the 7th grade, "high" on energy drinks (you do what you can to get entoxicated:P).
Hot RodI think Forrest Gump does. It's a great movie, no idiocy included ;D

Best plot twist since the crying game, and this time I wasn't tempted to throw up!
Transformers 2:Revenge of the FallenWhat was racist in it?
What can I say? As awful as I expected it to be. There is not one noteworthy film making thing from it. It was so bad I laughed throughout the whole movie. And also there was this weird blantant racism throughout.

Army Of Darkness 10/10 freaking hilarious movie, i was laughing every minute!Oh yes, this. 10/10 from here too. ;D

Der Baader Meinhof Komplex
Really liked it, very well made with good acting!

The PrestigeExactly :) amazing movie!
That is simply the best movie I have seen in a very long time. I've been waiting for something innovative and fresh and that film did deliver. Very good acting from all actors although some of them could drop the semi-brit accent. It got me entartained for the whole lenght of the movie and that is a rare thing. It has a strong ending (a part, hardest to make IMO) and all story unfolds there like in a good criminal story. Folks, this film is a must-see!

If you haven't already, watch it a second time (not right after of course, but sometime at least). Then you really understand the genious of small details that the ending explained.
Paris, je t’aime (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401711)Oh God the vampire bit with Shia Lebouef was odd.
This is a movie from 2006, splitted into 18 episodes, all to be sat in Paris. More or less each episode illustrates different encounters of love between 2 or more people. It shows so well that there is just more than one way to express and to live love in life, though sometimes presented in a very abstract manner. However, I would have been happy if I could have seen this movie already 15 years ago, as it can be a real eye-opener.
I'd rate it 10/10
Saw Indigenes ("Days Of Glory") last night. It's a french movie about the involvement of North African "subjects" in the french army during WWII. Really good. Maybe not an all out warmovie like Private Ryan or something, but it takes the viewer to interesting locations like Italy, the Elzas, Vogezen, etc. and the topic itself is interesting enough to warrant a viewing. Plus, a couple of cool nerdy details like a two man MG42 squad with one guy holding up the barrel, and the other one firing. There's probably a cool german name for that tactic, but I don't know it. :)I absolutely love that film.
The heart of the movie is about this:
"In 1959, a law was passed to freeze the pensions of infantrymen from former French colonies about to become independent. In 2002, after endless hearings, the French government was ordered to pay the pensions in full. But successive governments have pushed back this payment."
Final Destination.
...wtf.
the only movie in the past years that I can say really scared me (otherwise, I'm always "untouched" by horror movies) is "The Orphanage". I was scared to walk home in the night from my friends house when I had seen it.

THe amazing spanish movie?
Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Funny, quirky, hilarious.
5/5!
Saw "Never So Few" last night. It was alright (but on the verge of "mweh"), altough it could've done with 90 minutes instead of 2 hours. Had some interesting aspects, but overall a typical 50's "war"-movie with forced romantics and heroism.
Cool to see Steve McQueen in his first major movie role though. Saw Magnificent Seven too a couple of days ago so it's been kind of a Steve McQueen week. Maybe watch The Getaway tonight :)
Top Gun
"Don't forget to see Bullit as well and the documentary "The Essence of Cool" quite nice watch if you like McQueens stuff"
Ordered Bullit right away. Thanks for reminding me. Haven't seen it yet but with McQueen in the lead and music by Lalo Schifrin you can't really go wrong, now can you. ;)
Oh, and thanks for the doc-tip. Will check that out. Recently I have been watching a lot of old movies with guys like Paul Newman, Bogart, McQueen, Eastwood, icons like that. Egos the size of a Ratte but simply too cool for school.
Tonight I rewatched Octopussy. And I must admit it's aged a hell of a lot better than last week's Moonraker. It's still one of the lighter Bonds, but it's not as silly as I'd remembered (probably because of the clown), a few niggles aside (the tarzan-yell, stuff like that). The story is typical bloated Bond, but somehow it still kinda worked. :)
Watched the sequel to Alien, Aliens last week. Must have seen it about 3 times over the years, but I hadn't seen it for a few years till this time, forgot the story etc so it was like watching it fresh again. Wow, f#ckin' brilliant! 10/10 8)

Totally awesome movie. I wonder if the new movie Pandorum try to copy Aliens. Havent seen it, but in the trailer many of the scenes were very similar
I strongly disagree. SPR is far less tactical than BoB and many other war movies, the ones i mentioned for example. As you say Dog Green is vague, its for example alot better explained in The Longest Day. The last big battle in SPR is quite tactical, yes, but the movie in general has not so much tactic imo. The last battle is tactical, but it also give me alittle feeling of A-team (i guess ill be slaughtered for that comment)yup, your right, please step up here *leads up to the gallows* and you will be read your rights...oh wait they were revolked for even saying something that foolish! :o
Yeah, at one point your right, but to me SPR is one of the few warmovies that gives you that "almost like being there" feeling as viewer, especially in the last battle. I guess some choices had to be made between tactics and what works on screen. As The Longest Day proves. I rewatched that last month after last seeing it 20 years ago and meticulous as it may be, it is simply not that exciting. So these two balance eachother out nicely. ;)I agree though on the radarpost assault, they shouldn't have attacked it, especially the way they did under the circumstance.
My only gripe with SPR is the radarpost-assault. That to me always came across as a rather silly way to attack a MG nest and consequently the scene's sole purpose seems to be to humanize The Enemy. But as an overall warmovie it's still one of my favourites.
By the way,to keep things on topic, I saw Oliver Stone's Salvador last night. That guy should make more warmovies. Pretty impressive camerawork, especially since it was quite a low budget movie. I love Platoon, but always felt most of the battlescens got muddled in the darkness. But in Slavador he shows he knows how to direct a crowd. :)
2012 3/10 Boring and predictable. I guess thats no surprise for anyone. Even the effects werent that good imo. Particulary the rolling dome of the vatican building who rolled over people. So wrong.
Framom främsta linjen / Etulinjan edessä 9/10
Im not really sure if this is a swedish or finnish movie, but its awesome. I cant find words to describe how great the story is, its pure war and tactical battle-related action all the way. Its about the continuation war and the regiment IR 61's battle at "Svir" and "Näset". I think its hard to see if actors act good when they dont speak english or norwegian, but for my eye it was quite good acting. What makes the film not get 10 is cause the action scenes werent perfect. They were quite good, but didnt really take you to the battle as BoB and SPR. The russians also at some points ran weirdly against fire to get shot, but as far as i know maybe they did in real. The plot is not unreal in any way, like saving a private far beyond enemy lines or steal gold in the middle of the battlezone, its no romantic or drama, only pure real war-tactics. Though i dont know enough about that war to know if the equipment is correct. Anyhow, i strongly recommand this film :)
Banhammer? ???Mjölnir FTW!
Sounds like a movie for my taste.
The A Team 7/10
Ive heard many say this movie sucks, but i think its very funny. I laughed alot several times. Im an old A Team fan , i guess those who arent wouldnt like the movie at all. I also think the new actors are very good replacements for the old ones, Murdock as my favorite maybe. Some of the scenes consist of unrealism to an extreme limit, like you have to be a genious in "unrealism" to invent such. Like a tank falling in parachute, beeing controlled by fireing the cannon to propell the tank, or to use the rotors of an old huey chopper to make a shield against bullets. So in other words, watch this film as a comedy :)
Predator
5 out of 5. Only got to see half but I love the b-movie action, really good for a late night movie. DUAL MP5! But most of the points are for the awesome Predator and the famous 'GET TO DA CHOPPAH' line.
I hear ya!
For me, its a Live Free of Die Hard, perfect third part to the franchise... Toy Story 3... great movie...
9/10
Loads of Predator goodness
"I ain't got time to bleed."
Predators.
Haven´t seen the original movie, so I didn´t knew what to expect. The whole movie was "meh", with many questions unanswered and weird stuff going on. Wasn´t quite my cup of tea, but I liked the Russian guy with the mini-gun, since he reminded me of The Heavy (I just waited for him to start shouting "Cryyy some more!" :D). Except for that it was a shallow movie about people fighting Aliens. The plot wasn´t really needed and useless. If you´re a fan of the original movie or if you just enjoy seeing people fighting Aliens you´ll like it, but for me it was just "meh"...
5/10
Avatar the Last Airbender
2/5
So bad... awful dialogue and writing, kinda boring, thrown together, bad idea making a short movie based on a huge tv show. I was so bored, so was my date eventually she just ended up voicing her own lines over the movie.
The minigun guy is a rip off of the original where some black dude reaks havok on the forest after the predator (theres only 1) kills his friend.
Taking over England's top football club Leeds United, previously successful manager Brian Clough's abrasive approach and his clear dislike of the players' dirty style of play make it certain there is going to be friction. Glimpses of his earlier career help explain both his hostility to previous manager Don Revie and how much he is missing right-hand man Peter Taylor who has loyally stayed with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Seriously, that film is on the telly like every two months.
Maybe I should see it some time ;D
Ah I fucking loved that movie!

Inception 9/10
Though I could see the twist ending from the scene where they were on the window-ledge. (you know, where what he thought was reality was actually also a dream.) That, to me, was just a bit too obvious.
2012 - prolly the worst movie I've seen since alexander. a flacid 1/5 and it only gets 1 because I thought how awesome would it be to try and fly a light aircraft through a collapsing world, after that my mind switched off and I wondered if it was raining outside.
I'm going to tell myself that it fell. It looked like that was what was happening anyway.
And good lord I hated the wife, "Mal" or whatever. She had a weird wart on her forehead, it kept bugging me.
My favourite character was definitely Mr. Saito.
Dude. If a Cessna can fly though a thick cloud of Volcanic ash, why dont we strap rockets onto those and use them as ground attack aircraft in Iraq. Theyre obviously more robust than anything even the military is using now... XD
you all do that, you just don't admit. so shut up :)

Its like japanese anime but then like a movie and chinese. I must say i like the design of costumes and such, but i found the whole floating impossible battles to much.
The Good, The Bad, & The Weird
7/10
;) epic funny film with Sth korean style.
Some anachronism about weapons (the weird carry walther p38) but otherwise nice.
Something refreshing, i just hope more foreign film to become more accessible (chinese/russian/finnish ww2 film)
Stalingrad: 8,5/10Great movie indeed
Pretty well done. Sure, uniforms and other things aren´t totally accurate, but the way this movie tells the story from a German perspective is great. No gloryfication, no heroes, just dirt, pain, agony, officer assholes and the mercyless and cold Russian Winter. The Russians are portrayed as human beings as well, and the Germans are neither heroes nor are all of them monsters. The end is tragic and leaves a strange feeling, after you´ve finished this great movie.

You must be kidding me?! 95% of all people who saw that movie and talked to me afterwards found it to be utterly bad and not even close to the series.
Sounds like a director went for Erich von Dänikens ideas and made a film about it. ^^
But I will have a look as well.
Hope it's not as shaky as BWP then.
But yeah Erich von Däniken is a fraud.
almost worthy of a new thread
http://www.ufoevidence.org/cases/case486.htm (Nuremberg UFO war 1561) thats where interest in 'ancient contact' started for me. Since then I've noticed how littered history is with accounts of this kind.
The Objective 5/5
This is a low budget movie. And it also started with narration which I always view as a lame excuse to cut scenes. I didn't feel anything for any of the characters, but I was left yearning for more information. This is one of the best films I've seen in the last 2 years, I didn't know the back story to start with an assumed what I was watching was a cheap Afghan war movie. Not so. One scene in particular for me when the lead role picks up a symbolic object (Mayan aircraft trinket) I suddenly realised what the fuck was going on and it even triggered a memory of a story that my grandfather told me about the Hill of Bones in Afghanistan, and the fate of the 44th Reg. The movie gives the Hill of Bones a strange twist, and has left me once again even more perplexed by the notion that such ancient treasures like the Ark Of the Covenant, and the Mana machine given by God to the Israelites on their 40 year exodus we really advanced technology from possibly some unknown super race.
This sounds just the thing to watch at the moment, I'm reading Icke's latest offering (http://www.davidicke.com/) and I've just started on the parts about the underground Reptilans, Denver airport etc True or Bonkerz, makes you think! :o :D
£5 on amazon, I'll get it on that review Sir! ;)

8/10.
I love Page and DeCaprio already, but the person who I respected the most was that guy from ?500 days of Summer and 10things i hate about you. In as much as you get impressed with keanu reeves in the matrix cuz you never expected him to be so badass, this was totally over the top exhuding total badassery! Made Jack Bauer look like a girlscout! I dont need to say why.
The Book of Eli.

Yeah story-line sch'mory-line, it is dances with Wolves in space, but shit second time around that CGi is friggin awesome, knowing the story lets you eyes wander, this time round I noticed things like whne the wind blows goose bumps appeared on neytiri's neck, the twitching of the pupils as CGi characters moved from light to dark. Outstanding. FU haters.
Just saw Shutter Island.
anyway, all in all a good film. Not incredible, but good.

Michael Collins (1996), 8/10. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117039/)^Nothing to add here.
It was a great film, though it needs some knowledge about what happened in Ireland at 1916-1922. That's the biggest minus side of the film. It jumps from place to another really quick. And if you don't have subtitles (like I didn't), it's kinda hard to understand that irish english (and I thought that aussie english is hard to understand!).
I hated it enough not to finish it. Mummy 1 for me was like Matrix 1, perfect, and did not require the dillusion of sequelsI actually preferred the Mummy 2 because of that really cool scene in the oasis with the creepy pygmy skeletons.

MOON
Proves that watching one guy on a mining base on the far side of the moon can be quite compelling. Lovely CGI-lite old school sci-fi story by the son of Ziggy Stardust.
Very good movie, I recommend it as well. Finally a movie besides all the hollywood blockbuster crap worth watching.MOON

I second that. An awesome movie. Perhaps not for everyone and definitely not for people with a short attention span, but for scifi fans and people who like it a bit weirder. GO WATCH IT!
Haven't seen it but if any of the Belushi bro's is in, I'm in.

Forgot to mention!
Watched 300 again the other day
That movie is just so awesome, it's such a non-chick flick but still it's awesome and not geeky and nerdy. It's about warriors being warriors and not being weird about it.

Sounds good but still, I have found so many animé's where the layout looks awesome but when you see it it's decent but still cornyhell no. I am at episode 10 now (26 episodes) and i enjoyed each and every episode.
Is it corny?
ghibli films! :)Yeah, last year I watched the Ghibli movies and Valley of the Wind was indeed great!
Never saw Porco Rosso, really wanted to but couldn't.
Might I say that Nausicaa of the valley of the wind was a good film by them. I remember watching it on cartoon network when I was 5, great movie
Set in the year 2047 the story concerns the sudden reappearance of a prototype spaceship (the Event Horizon of the title) which vanished on it's maiden voyage seven years previously. A salvage ship called The Lewis And Clark is sent out to investigate and brings along Dr William Weir (Sam Neil), a physics expert originally responsible for the ship's creation. They dock with the Horizon but find no signs of life and as they set about making repairs, the crew begin to experience hallucinations and sense that they are not alone...

Last movie I saw: Ben X [B, 2007]It is indeed a brilliant movie. And the international succes was gigantic, Nic Balthazar never expected his movie to be so succesfull, because it was like the only movie wich showed the life of an "Aspie"
A cool little Belgian movie about an autistic/Asperger-Syndrome-having student (Ben) who gets bullied a lot in real life and escapes into his favorite MMORPG Archlord (as Ben X). When he gets pushed over the edge by his classmates he looses it and plots revenge.
Being an Aspie myself (for lack of a better word) this movie actually made me quite emotional, and any movie that manages that gets my thumbs up. But apart from the autism-angle (which, apart from the story/plot, is also manifested in the editing, characters and cinematography) it's simply a well made low budget film that makes the best of it's budget and actors. A good part of the movie takes place in the fantasy realm of the game which can easily fall flat, but Ben X makes it work. Movies like this always make me wonder why Belgians make such good movies while the dutch movies are usually uninspired sub-par affairs.
So, highly recommended, although for non-dutch speaking people it might not work. A lot of Ben X's dia-/monologues are based on wordplay which doesn't translate very well. The title itself is already a problem since it leans on the phonetical pronounciation of the name, meaning "Am Nothing" in dutch (Ben X => "ben niks").
So you might not like it the way I did, but still, give it a chance. :)
I do love anything space oriantated, as I thought as a young kid "we'd" allready have Star Wars type spaceships by 2010! So I record any movie showing different spacecrafts etc :D
I read in the reviews somewhere that a prequel would be brilliant for Event Horizon, I'd sure love to see that one! Wonder why they never got round to doing it ??? Watch this "Space" I guess!
I love Science Fiction storys as well. After having seen 2001 as a kid I read all I could from Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Stanislav Lem and Bradbury and such. So I´m a bit dissapointed by this site, because instead of featuring spaceships from serious literature it shows only action movie and TV series spaceships :(I do love anything space oriantated, as I thought as a young kid "we'd" allready have Star Wars type spaceships by 2010! So I record any movie showing different spacecrafts etc :DHehe and I made it my job!
Oh may I drop in this website for you? It has brought me days of joy. http://www.merzo.net/
<<< SPOILER ALERT >>>
I have a bit of a love-hate thing with Event Horizon. Starts out really well, impressive tension build-up, but the third act just ruins everything. Suddenly the whole premise of a black hole/alternate dimensions gets watered down to Sam Neill being a psycho.

Battlestar galactica
10/10
Its a serie i know. Im gonna keep it short=The best frakking serie i ever saw. Finished the last episode today, and it was beautifull.even made me a bit emotional. I spended 120€ on the Dvd boxes. But they where all worth it. It is a serie, wich i will never forget.
BSG is quite well done, but some of the episodes did lack a bit. Especially in the final season.Aye, seeing those 2 battlestars fighting like battleships and such
All in all though those were made even by the awesome ones! I love the Pegasus episodes. Pure evil. ^^
BSG doesnt end. Thats for sure. A new serie is going on ATm, named Caprica. And its a great succes aswel.
I actually like it :v. Reviews say it is alot of things BSG is, expect things blowing up in space.BSG doesnt end. Thats for sure. A new serie is going on ATm, named Caprica. And its a great succes aswel.
No. It's no success and it isn't even scifi anymore imo. Just a bunch of religious, political and social topics on a few planets no grand fights and the nice story you got with BSG.
Don't mess with your feelings for BSG, don't watch it.
Now the first Cylon war would be grand! :)
In mid-April 1979, ABC executives canceled the show. An AP article reported, "The decision to bump the expensive Battlestar Galactica was not surprising. The series ... had been broadcast irregularly in recent weeks, attracting slightly over a quarter of the audience in its Sunday night time slot."[7] Larson has claimed that it was a failed attempt by ABC to position its number one program Mork & Mindy into a more lucrative timeslot.[8] (The ratings for Mork & Mindy plummeted far below what they had been for Battlestar Galactica.) The cancellation led to viewer outrage, protests outside ABC studios, and even contributed to the suicide of Edward Seidel, a 15-year-old boy in Saint Paul, Minnesota who was obsessed with the program

Jackass 3DI would even go so far and give it a 9/10. I literally laughed my ass off while watching it. If you liked the show, then you will like this movie, too. The opening scene was absolutely hilarious and the slo-mo effects were great. The only thing that made me a bit sad was that everyone in the Jackass crew looks so old now...time passes by too fast. :/

First of all, let me clarify that I have neither read the original book or seen the 1969 adaptation featuring the duke, John Wayne.
Performances were top notch as was the story. Highly recommended this to all. Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn and Matt Damon as Texas Ranger LaBoeuf worked well together but Hailee Steinfeld stole the show for me as Mattie Ross.
Visuals were stunning and the whole film worked for me.
Machete
- 1 hour and 40 minutes, filled with sexy women, guns, blood and explosions. It's alright a lazy Sunday afternoon but doesn't really fill the whole Grindhouse feeling the fake trailer did back when the Grindhouse movies was released.
Anyhow, some good moments here and there.

well, take the flying tank scene, and the container ship scene, those are a bit more then just cutting a few corners for the sake of entertainment.

Would anybody happen to know the name of a particular cold war movie I'm looking for?
As I roughly remember it, nuclear war goes on but the problem is not the nukes, its a cloud of radiation thats starting to blanket the planet. A submarine commander and his men go to the north pole or something to escape the balnket of readtion.
Any ideas? I remember having stopped watching the movie halfway due to length ???

then i watched "battle of the bulge" about 10 mins until i figured out that the german standard tank for the ardennes is a m60 patton tank cant judge this film either
Hi, me again.
so i watched "tali-ihantala". and i can just recommend it to everyone. its one of the best war movies ive ever seen. thx for the information about this film, a shame i didnt know it before.

and you see the interior and combat IN those tanks
the only thing i could say "against" that movie is that i got confused what soldier did what and who is who, but thats just me confusing/ being to stupid to get all those finnish names :D

Just finished Scott Pilgrim vs.the world:Really cute girls
Pretty crazy, yet highly entertaining movie. It really entertained me the whole time, something not many movies can do. The style of the different fights was cool, it had pretty funny one-liners and even though the first few minutes were a bit weird it was worth watching it.
Also Kim, Ramona and Scotts sister were cute.

RoboCop - 9/10
First saw this when I was like 6 years old. Loved it then, loved it now. The crime ridden, violent, sleazy 80's Detroit is awesome! Murder, rape, drugs, armed robbery and no mercy. Ah, livin' the dream dear Detroitians. ED-209 was pretty fearsome as well.
(Bonus: the 80's track from that dirty club - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZflAaRrqwIM)
RoboCop 2 - 6/10
Saw this when I was a kid as well, so it has a place in my heart. However, I'm much more critical of this film. I mean, c'mon - a kid acting as a druglord? Also, the stupid OCP directives that made him do "humoristic" stuff, which contributed nothing to the story what-so-ever. Still, the RoboCop 2 cyborg was kinda cool to watch when it blew shit up.
Just saw X-Men: First Class.
A first class movie, like all the X-Men films! 5/5 stars!

I agree regarding the 'Bland' argument but Captain American wasn't that much better IMHO but I think these two combined with the rest of The Avenger crew will make something really worth waiting for...Finished Thor a few nights agoI think Thor is a textbook definition for a bland movie. Not bad, but just not... there. It doesn't do anything for the Audience, it's like a pre-movie to Avengers with a story that could have been done in even less than half it's runtime of whopping 115min.
I hope they make a decent Avengers movie which will be more like Captain America and not Thor
Charlie Day is in it and you have no expectations.

Cowboys and Aliens
Listen up team, we're going to do this 'serious' = Fail 1. Western and aliens do not mix, or rather sci-fi machines, fair enough. But Wild Wild West was rather painfull = Fail 2. Craig is the best Bond to date, sorry Sean, but I hate it when they play in other movies = Fail 3. Harrison Ford is not the actor he used to be - Fail 4. But it worked for me! Craig just excels at playing a righteous, but heartbroken bastard. Just like Fleming intented Bond. Ford is good as well, although I felt he could give it a bit more. Even the aliens' motivations are explained which a LOT of other movies... don't. Fun movie, where I expected a bomb, and then some. I was wrong. Final shootout: 7,5
Bad teacherIs that the comedy/sex only related movie?
- Probably one of the worst and most meaningless movies I have seen in several years.

The story follows an underground weapons manufacturer in Belgrade during WWII and evolves into fairly surreal situations. A black marketeer who smuggles the weapons to partisans doesn't mention to the workers that the war is over, and they keep producing. Years later, they break out of their underground "shelter" --- only to convince themselves that the war is still going on.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114787/
Drive
Don't pay attention to its trailers. I like these, back to the decade, movies, but this is more. That's not doing it justice, saying they pulled that part of beautiful is an insult really. They show they master that from the get go. Think Steve McQueen in the eighties in 2011, flying colors, great shots, good acting and actors, and a KICK ASS soundtrack. Rough, raw, beautiful. In every department. I just let go for 1,5 hours and boy, am I glad I did.

The hunt for Red October
(http://1416andcounting.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/hunt_for_red_october_ver2.jpg)
Marko Ramius (Sean Connery) is captain of the Soviet ballistic missile submarine Red October, which features caterpillar drive--a revolutionary silent propulsion system that renders the boat virtually undetectable. At the start of the film, Ramius takes the boat out to sea for exercises with the submarine V.K. Konovalov, commanded by Captain Tupolev (Stellan Skarsgård), a former student of Ramius.
Once underway, Ramius murders political officer Ivan Putin (Peter Firth), the one man aboard not under his command and the only man aboard besides himself who knows the sub's official orders. Ramius then burns the original orders and informs the crew that their mission is to conduct nuclear missile drills off America's east coast. The USS Dallas, an American submarine on patrol nearby, detects Red October but loses contact once Ramius engages the silent drive.
The next morning, CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) briefs several senior U.S. government officials on the departure of Red October and the threat it poses. In the briefing, Ryan learns that the Soviet Navy has deployed the bulk of its Atlantic fleet to find and sink Red October. The officials in the briefing fear that Ramius may be planning an unauthorized first strike against the U.S., but Ryan suggests that Ramius plans to defect. Ryan is sent out into the North Atlantic with a brief opportunity to prove his theory before the U.S. Navy will be ordered to sink Red October.
While under way, Red October's caterpillar drive suddenly fails, and sabotage is suspected. No longer silent, the sub comes under attack by Soviet forces and begins a series of risky maneuvers through undersea canyons. Meanwhile, Petty Officer Jones (Courtney B. Vance), a sonar analyst aboard Dallas, reconstructs Red October's path and plots an intercept course. Ryan learns of his findings and arranges a hazardous mid-ocean rendezvous to get aboard Dallas, where he convinces the sub's Captain, Bart Mancuso (Scott Glenn) to attempt communication with Ramius through morse code in order to determine his true intentions.
I found The hunt for Red October to be a wonderful film and take my time to watch it at least once every year. The storyline is different from that of the usual Cold war themes (007 and whatnot) so you can expect a few surprises. I would give this movie a 9/10 , plus it has sean connery!
I saw it too around that time, but only once. From what I remember it was a cool movie, with a cool soundtrack and some cool up and coming actors (Vin Diesel just off Pitch Black, Giovanni Ribisi after his SPR medic and Friends fame, etc.). So probably still a cool movie then. ;)Yeah I got the same feeling, Vin Diesel closing the deal on a customer, I remember that especially.
But must rewatch it soon. I remember I rented it on VHS, djeez, 'the year 2000' used to sound so space age futuristic, now it just sounds old... :-(

It doesn't suck. It's quite enjoyable and the story is pretty cool. But I just wish Guy Ritchie would tone down his style. It's exhausting to look at and doesn't serve a purpose. Not that I'm old fashioned or anything, but in this case it's just visual excess for the fuck of it. The story thunders along without pause which just doesn't suit a Sherlock Holmes story. There's no tension buildup whatsoever. But pretty good movie nonetheless. Downey and Law simply have that vibe. But Noomi Rapace is heavily underused. Why hire one of the most daring actresses of today for your movie and then not give her anything real to do?
Drive 2011What a coincidence, just finished watching it myself. The whole movie was EPIC and the ending was not out of place at all. (SPOILERS below for those who have not yet seen this masterpiece, regarding this argument.) My only gripe was that Ron Perlman's jawbones seemed to be from a completely different movie altogether as far as acting was concerned.
A Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong.
The first 10 min are EPIC, the soundtrack gives this movie something special, the acting and camerawork are good, i thought the ending sucked because its kinda abupt and it doenst really fit in with the rest but this movie is a great ride!

Then when I saw the guy who gets decapitated when stuck in that manhole, oh god I lost it. Long since I laughed that hard.
And the evil Atheist dies! Great movie... ^^
The Fifth Element and subtle humour? ^^Subtle for a French film.
5 Days of War 5/10
Propaganda, propaganda, propaganda. Russians look like gangsters, kill civilians etc. and georgians save the day. Georgian soldiers all have special forces style training and one squad can kill a company of russians. Should get less than 5 points, but whatever.
I am very impressed by this movie, considering the budget. Its like Full metal jacket. Everything is totally top class untill the end(Yes i found the end battle of Full metal jacket a bit dissapointing)I have watched 9th Company and Ip Man, and more romantic comedies that I would have liked because high school girls love them a lot.
What'd you think of 9th Company? I hated how the movie gets ruined by the shoddy end-battle. Up until then it was a possible classic.
Once upon a time in the westOne of my favorite Leone films and absolutely my favorite Morricone soundtrack. Just watch this!
The mist(2007)
A very underrated movie, i quite like it also for the fact that not much know actors are being used.
It also shows how pathethic religion is and if i every get into some sort of apocalypse, im staying the FUCK away from christians

Great movie, got me scared a few times. What I like the most is the unexpected ending, made me laugh!
But, the people wanna know....is it more than the Running Man/Battle Royale mash up it seems to be?Honestly, I can't say. I haven't seen both movies.
Review: This extended version adds 36 minutes of footage. Make the movie even better. More back story on Sweetwater & Miss Penny lane. One of the best Rock movies ever IMO.

This is true however. Not to mention the 4 phalanxes installed wich could bring down those depth charge like anti-ship missile thingies
p.s. I like the way they use the veterans to crew the USS Missouri. They completely forgot about that Tomahawk missile installed during 1990 2nd Persian Gulf War (the external launcher is clearly shown in the movie). So they can make drama about "last shell" and failed dramatic anti-climax.
J.Edgar 5/10
Acting was not bad, but in the end, it was meh.
Didn't give anything I ddn't already know, and really didn't delve into things he atually did.
No offense, but Hoover wasn't that interesting a person, beyond his ability to hold things over people.
I wanted to see what the FBI actually did. So unlike Letters and Flags of our fathers, this one didn't add anything to my knowledge base, and it had no high points.
I don't recommend.
Oh yeah, whatever made him go for that movie?1) That's a good question
Butler as a born again Christian? Uffff....
The Brest Fortress 2010
What's in a name eh? I thought hey, that's cool, Brest. Different Brest! Great Russian movie about the opening (day)'s of Barbarossa, as the Russians are taken by surprise and try to hold back the invading Germans. Battleground is the border fortress of Brest, which is about to have a rude awakening.
Moving story of which I knew nothing about and a kickass war movie. Men with pistols on the left and shovels on the right included! 8) 8,5/10

Where did you see it btw? I heard even Lucas had troubles getting a cinema release for a movie with an all black cast.*taps nose* ;)

The Avengers 9/10
The ultimate superhero ensemble movie, imo. Can't see how this can be bettered, except by Joss Whedon doing a sequel. I absolutely loved it. :)
Good balance between the different characters and everybody gets their turn to shine. The action is impressive, realistic (people get hurt) but still comic-book. On the verge of over-the-top but still "believable" within the story and the movie's universe (take note Michael Bay, this is how you do blockbusting right!). Good humor too, but again, character specific. For example, you won't hear Cpt. America trade witty one-liners with the rest of the team cuz he's not that type of guy.
...
I'd say this: the best superhero movie so far. Spider-man series is easily surpassed. I prefer this one, less emo moments, more awesome action, jaw breaking, skull smashing, and not enough funny jokes cracked.

Hmmm being better than the Spiderman series isn't hard in my book, they were fairly bland imho.
How would you say does it compare to "The Dark Knight", which for me is the best comic adaptation ever. Hands down!
I'm so psyched about "The Dark Knight Rises"!
Die HardBest. Christmas movie. Ever.

Centurion (7/10)Weird i watched that today. there was almost no character development. The Eagle was much better.
Kinda "meh" movie,I expected more of it.It's good, anyway.
I began to watch Centurion a year ago on a plane. Watched 10 minutes then turned it off. Seemed so fucking worthless. A splatter-movie in a roman setting.
By the way is Etulinjan edessä (Beyond the Front Line) any good ? It is a Finnish war movie.
I've heard The Dictator is pretty good from several people, probably going to see it after work tomorrow instead of Transformers on water aka Battleship.Just finished watching it and really liked it.
Men in Black 3 - 7/10Yes i fully agree with your review.
A solid performance from Will Smith and a return to the roots after that failed second part... I enjoyed myself and the story was really good for a comedy.
See it in 2D, as this movie luckily lives from contents and not gimmicks.
Matt: I love you... I have a condom.
Imagine if his film about Napoleon was actually madeI still blame the movie Waterloo for him abandoning that. Kubrick's version would've done great..
Waterloo is in itself a great movie, Sergei Bondarchuk and his SFX guy (airbursting howitzer shells) deserve an oscar for that. Personally, I think it was MGM and United Artists that kept pushing it on the long run, don't think it's cheap to recruit the Czech army as extras, not to mention the horses. But it wasn't actually very fashionable making a historic drama in those days, and yes, Waterloo may have been a deciding factor, but it certainly wasn't the only one.Imagine if his film about Napoleon was actually madeI still blame the movie Waterloo for him abandoning that. Damn, Rawhide, you've been slugging through some bad movies ;D Good to see Stanley saved it allYeah, it's impossible to choose what movie was the worst one of them.
Well you could have at least used a quote from "The Uninvited" (crap movie still) for your own advantage:QuoteMatt: I love you... I have a condom.
Waterloo was not a financial success and Kubrick still wanted money if he made it so after seeing how Waterloo had, in his eyes, failed, he decided to post-pone it. Ewww what a travesty of a film and a way to kill a potential reboot of a great legacy!

Even though first one was more "serious movie", while this one is "let put every 80's badass here along with his one-liner" especially the "ending battle",but apart from that, It has everything it needs. Overall, classic action movie with bigger explosions. What can possibly be better?
Expandables II an 8, Mud? Seriously? Doesn't get beyond a 6.5 for me. I tried watching it as an action movie but it's really a comedy. I love Arnold being back and Willis roaming around, but not enough of them. So a 6.5.
First of all, it's not a reboot.
Please, explain. What was "epically wrong" about it?
Why does every bloody horror movie nowadays need Zombies... this is Aliens... for Christ's sake!Ehm zombies? Which movie did you watch? And "this is Aliens"? No, not quite. It is also not a horror movie.
Sorry to bumrush your post like this, but concerning Prometheus (which I loved, and I'm a big Alien fan) I found out people hate on this movie for all the wrong reasons: they expect a horror-styled Alien movie, and Prometheus tries to at least change the game and be original. A few missteps (which almost every movie makes, including most of the classics) turn into "epically wrong" mistakes (you're not the only one, Reporter) and the movie gets dismissed as a failure. All because people expect the wrong thing.
I wanted to like this movie so much. I am a huge fan of the Alien films (the first 2 at least) but I tried not to let that influence my take on this movie. Visually, this movie is great. The CGI with the ship is amazing and the rest of the effects make you feel like you are really on an alien planet. I will say that I was not particularly impressed with the creatures though; Aliens felt more real than this. The most glaring problem with this movie is its lack of development of the characters; Charlize Theron's the most. There was a lot of potential to explore so many interesting facets of the characters but most of them are ignored. You get nibbles of some great side-stories to some of the characters, but then it is never mentioned again. A lot of the scenes seem rushed and many times you are asking yourself what the motivation for some of the character's actions are only to be met with the end of the movie and no answer. Michael Fassbender does play the android character perfectly. For me, it all starts with the story. If the story is flawed then no amount of effects, great acting or other frills is going to make the movie great. I feel bad for Ridley Scott, as he has obviously fell into the same "modern film" hole as many of the other great directors (George Lucas, Steven Spielberg). If you want a decent sci-fi film with good visuals, rent this movie on DVD. If you are looking for a masterpiece, look elsewhere
1. Why are all scientists on the mission the biggest idiots they could gather? None of them seem to have a bit of sense in them. While the mission itself was the brainchild of papa Weyland, Meredith is the one who has actually hired the personnel. Do keep in mind that she wanted the mission to fail all along, she even states this herself. What better way to guarantee a failure than to hire the most inept guys she could find?
4. (kind of like point 1 but still) They waste a trillion dollars to get to the planet, but save the costs for good scientists?! Who would hire that druggy psycho of a geologist? He loses his way in the pyramid even though he has the best mapping instruments you could wish for! Or the biologist, the first thing he does when he sees an Alien corpse is to run away? Wait what? Corpses are his job!
3. That medic pod... they have perfect androids in this future, but the bloody pod uses a pair of tweezers which you find in cheap vending machines... oh and hell yeah, it uses a laser scalpel to open Eli up, but then tapers her belly with metal clips... :(Wonky film editing at work, but the pod is (at the moment) configured for men because it is really meant for papa Weyland, whose presence was supposed to be a big secret, but moments later everyone is like business as usual, here is this guy who was supposed to be dead and not certainly aboard but let's keep calm and get chestbursted.
We hear that it is Vickers medic pod... but why is it only programmed to heal male patients? Was the RAM to small to fit in women as well?
The geologist comes back as a zombie, or what would you call his state? The geologist comes back as a creature that's slowly mutating into the familiar xenomorph (which is what would have happened to Holloway as well). There was this wonderful article about the SFX for the film - revealing that most of what we see is practical effects, only enhanced with CGI at times - where they show the pre-viz CGI version of the creature that certainly resembles the familiar twinjaw very much. What you see in film was supposed to be a screen test only, but Scott preferred the practical makeup effects on the actor, so scene was shot with the "placeholder" even though it did not resemble the xeno as much (though pay attention to the posturing, the way the face has started morphing, etc). Also, given enough time, the black goo would probably have mutated even the worms into xenos; they were displaying plenty of their characteristics even now (hyper-aggressive, acid for blood, mouth, tendency to facerape).
I bet the director noticed that he had too many survivors and just looked for a way to quickly kill them off...

Star Wars episode III: Revenge of the Sith featured a typical 18th century battleship broadside cannon battle between star destroyers of the Republic and Separatists during what is dubbed by geeks "Battle of Coruscant". The cannons are termed "Turbo lasers" or "Proton torpedo" or any other loosely used scientific weapon names. And apparently they needed a cartridge/shells/casings which is ejected by the weapon after firing the load. ...

This actually isn't that stupid to start out with. Chemical Lasers nowadays also use 'cartridges'.
Tibanna gas cartridges! Come on, Star Wars blasters don't fire laser beams! Lasers (and turbo lasers) are used to ionize the gas ;)

If you are a big fan of the alien universe. Think away that this is an alien movie. Then you actually get a nice Science fiction movie wich is graphicly, very beautifull. And the artwork is amazing
But. Just before the movie ends, you will know when this moment arrives. Look away, shut the movie down. Because true alien fans will shout blasphemy of the last 30 seconds of the movie

I shout blasphemy to that entire movie. I understand it, but as an Alien fan, I don't really like it.
Quite so. I think so too. It had too much hentai-ish stuff for my liking.
I agree with that rebuttal homer, I never understand about language being spoken in the movie is "too modern" for the setting.I get your point. I´ve recently watched "Coriolanus", which was set in a modern-day Italy, but maintained Shakespear-ish dialogues.
IMO, if it is a fictional universe in an ancient medieval setting, why should we use 1900s english? Why not use the medieval english instead? And let the audience feel like watching a foreign movie. Thou shalt not unerstad... Every word that was sed.
I seriously gotta check out the last two Alien movies.
Next on my list: More sci-fi I guess. Can anyone recommend me something? I have seen (and love) Event Horizon but that's pretty much it... really good sci-fi is hard to get by.

Thriller taking place aboard a Gato-class in the Atlantic. Liked the movie, the decors and the atmosphere. Tension was made real good even when u knew something was comming, i still was surprised sometimes. Film isn't realistic, but that's rather logical with a ghost movie.

I'll watch anything with Jet Li in it! But damn, I couldn't tell if I was high or not, the effects are AMAZING!
You really can't explain everything with current day science. Don't be too biased on the religious aspects of it.What? I never said anything like that.
It is basically reverting you back into that lazy notion that what you can't prove does not exist, doesn't really mean that it does not exist.Just because you can't prove something does not exist, doesn't mean you should assume there is a reasonable possibility that it does.

Resident Evil (1)
Movie about a virus that creates mutations and makes the dead live again. Was one of the better zombie movies. Was starring nice babes (Michelle Rodriguez, Milla Jovovich) and still had a storyline. I know there are unrealistic scenes but u can't exspect zombiemovies to be realistic, right?
9/10
Sorry if I sound harsh (don't want to troll your post or anything) but I'm not even a fan of the games and even I think this franchise deserves better movies.
I never liked the idea of supernatural powers in the "Real world". It feels like cheating to me.
World War Z^this
Urgh, what a pile of garbage. Even if you´d watch this movie as someone who hasn´t read the book you´ll be disappointed by this mediocre PG-13 snore fest.
I paid $5 U.S. dollars to see this and was not disappointed.
Sorry guys, but Pacific Rim gets a 2/10 from me.you go to pacific rim to watch gigantic epic robots and monsters. Guillermo del Toro said from the beginning that this was there goal and they did a GREAT job IMO
Plot holes galore, a boring and a straight rip off/predictable plot, including really weak acting made me almost leave the theatre this time round... bah what a bore fest... the last 5min I was hoping for a dramatic ending... but hell no, even the 'hero' doesn't manage to get himself killed... argh....
And the scene in Sydney... I almost spilled my beer... who would build the wall there? Have they even looked at a map of Sydney lately? I mean I was able to live with the geographic mixups in "The A-Team"; not everyone knows small German towns like Cologne and Mannheim, but Sydney argh....
Wait, there were ghosts in Evil Dead?! ;)
Killing Season (2013) by Mark Steven Johnson kinda makes you regret it. It is an overly dramatized reunion of Serbian and American war veterans. Starring John Travolta, Robert de Niro, and some Appalachian mountains dweller (some elks, owls, eagles, etc). This sounds promising.
But the movie fails at most of the things. It tells you about Bosnian war, which happen in 1992, and the intervention of NATO in 1995. Ben Ford (de Niro) is an American infantry tasked to liberate one of the extermination camps set by fanatic Serbian militia. Ben is traumatized by the events of the war, and in one engagement he decided to execute the death-camp guards immediately after capture. Emil Kovac (Travolta) is one of them, but managed to survive and return 18 years later for the revenge and for the "reason" (the whole plot of the movie).
I tell you something: there is no tense in a cat-and-mouse hunter-prey part of this movie. There is no drama, there is little action, but like most modern movie, it is a bit excessively gorish and brutal. Basically, it is all about two old guys sitting together and having some kind of difficult conversation. Yes it has some hippie message, and being a hunting-themed movie, no animal killing were shown in the movie (unlike The Wolverine). But it just doesn't come across. Even de Niro and Travolta's prowess fail to salvage what's left in this movie.
I will give it 4 out of 10 just because of the happy ending.
Pacific RimIm a fan of these movies but i have to admit
Not too amazing story, average acting at the best (Ellen McLain was great though), but it had huge robots, even larger monsters, robot swords, ship swords and all manner on explody whizzy-bangs. The film was so Neon Genesis Evangelion and an actual Kaiju film that I'm giving it a solid 3½/5
I guess I'm getting to old or bitter for mindless movies... *sighs*

My guess is your still too young (mainly because you start your argument with 'PLOTHOLES!' but then fail to give us any). You'll get over your adolescent cynicism about these kind of movies soon enough and will start to enjoy them again for what they are.
^Surprised that I've never heard of it, I watch a lot of Korean films. I'll see if I can find it later.

It was the first time I've ever seen it. I think it's an image created by the monolith, containing different versions of Dave. A sort of cycle of life thingy. It's showing Dave his future, then moves to the next form: pod -> spacesuit -> dining table -> deathbed -> foetus.
I think Fuchs may be able to enlighten us further.
I watched "The Wolf of Wall Street" two days ago ..
Holy maccaroni! 10/10! Another masterpiece by Martin Scorsese.
well, I was utterly spaced out, so maybe its just a 8/10, but anyway, the story is so crazy in parts and the way it is told gets close to "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".
Really recommended.

I just watched Wolf of Wall Street (2013) by Martin Scorsese, a biopic movie based on a memoir written by Jordan Belfort.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill
Plot
The movie is about the real world case of Stratton Oakmont and the adventure of Jordan Belfort in building his wealth. He started as a stock broker at L.F. Rothschild, and when the company closed, he started to be involved in trading penny stocks, a market so tiny that it is unregulated at that time. He quickly get rich by the 50% commission trading fee, with numerous illegitimate pressure tactics, and "pump and dump" schemes. He eventually moved up and establish his own firm Stratton Oakmont, Inc. with the help of unlikely gang of friends, and aimed even higher. He frequently gets into comedic situation over his addiction to drugs, sex, and partying. His ability in persuading and manipulating people gave him the early success, but it will eventually lead to his own downfall, when all of his illegal activities are uncovered one by one.
Theme
It is a black comedy, a satire, and most of the plot are simplified or maybe fictionalized, but it is all according to real Jordan Belfort's memoir. And according to him, the words like "fuck," "asshole," *insert genital references* "sucker" dominates the air of brokerage room. Abuse of prescription drugs is shown liberally throughout the entire film, snorting cocaine, aggressive intake of quaaludes, and the comedic "high" antiques and the situation it produced. The movie deliberately showed inconsistencies, like the colour of the cars, the mistaken progress of the plots (as narrated by Jordan himself), or even details like the number of stair steps as to illustrated the influence of drugs.
So this movie kinda nods to typical American setup, similar to the legendary "Wall Street" (1987) movie starring Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen, who attracted many young men into the Wall Street, including Dick Fuld (former CEO of Lehmann Brothers). Another Hollywood attempt at making US a funner place. After what they done with American history and its military capability, now it is their financial market's turn. It also approximately showed and guided nouveau rich on how to blow their money: drugs, trophy wife, super cars, mansions, yacht, and crazy parties. I literary read a Wall Street roller candidate asking if he can earn millions of dollars by landing a job there, before even graduated, right, reward before toil. Really, stay classy America, and keep learning from movies and Hollywood celebrities.
Verdict
A quite entertaining movie. I rate it at 7 out of 10. Coming from Martin Scorsese who typically manufactures epicly boring epic movies, this is quite a completely another direction from his usual boring-ness. My siblings who both worked in financial institutions (but none are brokers) quite like it. They freely laughs at most gags, deeming it to be pretty silly and "stuff of movies." I also read that Goldman-Sachs bankers cheered on several events of the movie, especially when Jordan rips off his hidden stash of cocaine and take huge dosage after a period of rehab. I guess they wanted to either mock the comical side of the movie or show how they want to "cling on" that hard into their dreams, even after the situation turned sour, like Jordan Belfort did. Critics are quite positive, but not so about the general audiences.
Fact vs. Fiction (Wall of text)
There are of course, inaccuracies shown in the movie. I can't help but I believe this movie reinforces that "occupy Wall Street" movement's stereotype about the people there. While most of my experience talking to other professional certification candidate in this industry does give me similar impression (mostly in US), but in most other places, I found out that it is entirely different.
You cannot simply "IPO" a company without serious stock pitching backed with reliable analysts. It seems that the movie only portrays Stratton Oakman's boiler room of telemarketing stock brokers. They don't show their other operations or how things were done. Clearly, these Stratton Oakman were predators to the low-medium income people, which are financially illiterate (as opposed to targeting "rich people," hence Jordan's decision to establish the firm and the name as explained in the movie). I could imagine how devastating the effect for their victims at that time. And ripping of 50% out of client's money is too much, and you are way too stupid if you fell into this scheme. This is however, confirmed by Wikipedia and had happened indeed (as well as the Forbes article). Nowadays, even 1% is considered high, as comparison, my broker only charged me 0.35% at sell and 0.25% at buy.
In real-life, calls from brokers or sell-side traders/analyst are usually for informing long time institutional investors about trends. My brother says that it is mostly them (the buyers) who made the call and ask "buy or sell" with the seller reluctantly answer or declining at all. Calls typically last very long and boring, with the conversation dominated by them talking and us listening. But time has changed, really. These highly-paid people really have no time for such low-volume, but high-commission transactions, which are clearly not a legitimate well-established firm's palate. Unless you are talking about hedge fund and all that shit, they are somewhat unregulated. But in the US, which has a lot of weird legislation, even those protecting their own stupidity (like Toyota brake problems), there's just too many prey and this things are too lucrative that they won't go away. Even the rich people who mistakenly invest in this kind of dubious products wanted to be protected from their stupidity, so imagine how are the other masses of poor, low-educated people.
So as a middle-class, blue collar, hard worker, my idea of fun is to get wasted as much as I can. So if we have more money, then we'll party harder right? Work hard, party hard? Well, if you are into expensive and alcoholic drinks (cocktails and bar stuffs) to get stoned to have fun, most of the colleagues in that industry will gossip about you and generally regards you as "not having a hobby." Yeah, it happened for real in one of major financial institution here, which (not surprisingly) employed the highest proportion of people educated in University in the state of New York.
People with a lot of money typically enjoys better access to their hobby (some of which they can't afford first), so it is not always drugs, prostitutes, gambling, and other typically Hollywood and American celebrity kind of "fun." For example, most of the guys in Indonesian "Wall Street" typically enjoy taking holidays at exotic places, which is kinda boring hobby. But some have interesting hobbies like collecting antics, paintings, and other art works that worth million dollars. One of the bosses I know enjoyed scuba diving, and with that huge extra money, he traveled to many weird places across the globe just to do his hobby.
So how about the, Ferraris/Lamborghinis? Well, Mazda 6 and Hyundai H-1 are what my siblings' bosses drive (or driven in, since H-1 is a huge van). Hell, my friend at JP Morgan took subways everyday and does figurine-collecting as a hobby.
Lone Survivor (2013)
Man, I should write post-apocalyptic young adult literature. It seems to be all the rage these days.
But I have to say, Divergent is a good one. Don't let the market saturation influence your opinion.
Red tails (2012)that movie was just.... just awful
[ranting]
2/10 God damn it.
Guardians of the galaxy
9.5/10
Absolutely an incredibly hilarious marvel movie. One wich is stunning and imo, better then the avengers.
Anything interested he told?Unfortunately some cinema staff people wanted him to sit in the adjoining restaurant and I didn't want to have to pay to get it. So I only got to hear a little bit, but he was discussing how the Sherman tank in the movie wouldn't have lasted half as long going up against a Tiger tank. Also, he said that he thought the film was actually a little too brutal, and that most of the German troops he saw were surrendering. He said that every day was essentially a story in itself and that he was just happy to have made it back alive.
The best part was that I went to a very small showing and one of the the other audience members was a Sherman crew veteran who participated in breaching the Siegfried Line. He hung around after the film ended and told some stories, it was really cool.
Fury 6/10So the tiger in movie is real???Because movie is crap.
That 6 points is only for seeing a real Tiger moving in the movie, nothing else.
Everything else is utter crap, watch it when it comes to Blu Ray.
Stormtrooper Germans. ;D
In the trailer, they show the Easy8 absorbing the angled frontal impact from 88 with no effect. Aside from spare tracks, can the real Easy8 survive it?From that angle, its perfectly possible to deflect such a round. There are infact, several reports of sherman tanks deflecting 88mm rounds from the l/56 88mm gun
I thought, even though the shot could not penetrate, it should at least knock out or bruise some of the crews due to the massive force of the 88 mm projectile impacting the tank.
If it's supposed to be "fun" then I can watch all those bad rated movies. Thanks for the tip! 8)
Im not expecting to see a WW2 documentary... so i dont criticize everything little thing expecting aproval from internet forum members like alot of you guys are doing. ::)
Just an advise: dont go to the theater with a broom up your ass already thinking that you will criticize a movie just because other people have done it already. ;D Its a movie, its supposed to be fun watching it.
And having gone to theatre with broom sticking up on my ass (according to some unknown Portuguese idiom), it still satisfies the most snottiest high-brow historical movie critics.
If that means being tight ass snotty bastards, then I think Indonesians have the exact opposite mindset: openly nonchalant ignorant idiots.
A lot of people bring their children to see Americans a murder of surrendering man, a lot of gory corpses, and (implied) sexual intercourse. Also, a lot of swearing.
Interstellar - see it in 70mm IMAX or die. It was truly great.
Unfortunately it was in the smallest theatre available, but numbers made clear why: there were 8 other people watching Fury with me.
Tom Hanks (who is apparently a talentless actor, pampered by only casted as typical American-hero).
3) That soldier shining his flashlight in the end did not say anything? If it was me and that guy was responsible along with his dead mates for the death of many of my friends and country men i'd fucking shoot him on the spot or worse.Well, he saw Norman under the tank. Knowing that the others would probably kill him, he didn´t give away that he was hiding there. I actually liked that scene. There are cases where soldiers respected the actions of the enemy rather than have their bloody revenge.
2) Their attitudes/reactions reminded me more of 1st Recon Marines from the "Generation Kill" rather than 1940s Americans. Too modern.
I thought there was a pretty clear message to the film. Brad Pitt hates Nazi fanatics and the SS, and he and his crew don't comprehend why the Germans don't just surrender. At the end of the film, he's faced with the same choice - a logical surrender, or a fight to the death. His choice shows that he's a much of a fanatic as the enemy he despises. Furthermore, he's not right. He thinks all Germans are Nazis who deserve to die, and tries to teach this to Norman. But at the end of the film, Norman is spared by a German, an SS trooper, in fact. Brad Pitt in Fury is the ultimate example of the tv trope "Do not do this cool thing"3) That soldier shining his flashlight in the end did not say anything? What annoyed me more was the hooker making out with Norman because he could play piano. Your people die below your window... you fuck the enemy because he can play piano. 8)
The turbulent relationship between Oskar and Alex ends in a big blaze when Alex sets Oskar's apartment on fire. So Oskar decides that everything shall be different with the next woman and makes a deal with fun-loving Masha: sleeping together but not making love. They both drift through Berlin and through their lives, sometimes playful, sometimes obsessively.
But Masha has her issues, too...
While trying to build up a 'normal' relationship, both Masha and Oskar reach their limits.
Not a movie but a serie: Gallipoli, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallipoli_(miniseries) Worth the watch from what i've seen.Where can I watch it?
Kingsman: The Secret Service is the funniest comedy of the year, already.
I heard the flamethrower/guitar was fully functioning. I'm amazed no one died filming it.The guy operating it got burned twice
It weighed 132 lbs and shot real gas powered flames out of the neck that was controlled with a whammy bar. 8) if that doesn't wanna make you see this movie idk what does

I recommend you to continue with The Look of Silence (2014), its sequel.
Spectre was decent, 8/10. The ending was a bit of a letdown in my opinion.
I agree with your opinion about the ending. ^
I would give it 6/10 or 7/10 depending if you like the original James Bond sort of plot of the new Daniel Craig darker version of Bond. Spectre was more old Bond plot, pretty predictable, not realistic, invincible Bond. I really enjoyed Casino Royale and how it humanized Bond but the latest movie did not really play that part. Action scenes cool as usual (the intro was pretty cool!) but no real chemistry between Craig and the lead actress. All in all, if you enjoyed pre-Craig Bond movies, you'll probably enjoy Spectre but if you are looking for Casino Royale-esqe movie, ehhh this movie doesn't cut it.
Office space
I have to watch Office Space then. Since I am basically making a living as an IT Consultant and currently quite desperate for a change.
I watched "Red Sniper". God that was a mistake. I only watched it til the end because my brother and I were making fun of it.Is it a bit like the Russian movie about Stalingrad? And is this in cinemas right now?
Nevermind, I found out that Red Sniper is an alternative title for Battle for Sevastopol, isn't it?I watched "Red Sniper". God that was a mistake. I only watched it til the end because my brother and I were making fun of it.Is it a bit like the Russian movie about Stalingrad? And is this in cinemas right now?
It is a movie about the battle of Sevastopol. I guess that´s the original title then. There is a small part that reminds you of the sniper duel from "Enemy at the gates". The Germans ultimately send a sniper of their own to kill the protagonist.I watched "Red Sniper". God that was a mistake. I only watched it til the end because my brother and I were making fun of it.Is it a bit like the Russian movie about Stalingrad? And is this in cinemas right now?
SpoilerIt is over in 5 minutes though. The way she defeats that German sniper is also ridiculous. She jumps out of cover taking a hit only to hit the sniper herself.
Man, Russian and Chinese war movies are so fucking hokey and nationalistic it's awful. The South Koreans make excellent action scenes, though the rest of the film is not good. Gettysburg or Zulu is my example of a fantastic "battle piece" film - no silly romantic subplots (lookin at you, Enemy at the Gates).
I take it that "Pearl Harbor (2002)" main plot was romance, and war was its subplot then?
Well Fury never claimed to be historically accurate, nor "inspired by true story" malarkey. As far as I remember they however bragged about the historic advice the Bovington tank museum gave them.
Does this Sevastopol movie features the gigantic Gustav Gun?No Gustav gun. It´s more abotu protecting some trenches rather than the city itself.
If not, that's a final laugh in the silliness train of this movie for you. Highly nationalistic, yet forgot the most glaring moment of it: withstanding the barrage from the biggest gun ever used in battle.
Somehow, I wanted to say its British bias to compliment BoB...Band of Brothers? How is that biased? There are episodes where the Allies get defeated (Episode called "Replacements") and that´s the only Episode I can think of where there are Brits.
I take it that "Pearl Harbor (2002)" main plot was romance, and war was its subplot then? The problem with some war movies is that they want to make them appealing to a broader audience. And this includes women. Your stereotypical woman wants a love plot.

Captain America: Civil War (2016)
8.5/10 Probably one of the best superhero movies, on par with The Dark Knight and Avengers.
Mad Max: Fury RoadBoth get my 10/10 aswel. Especially Mad max fury road. That movie sparked something in me i havent felt in a long time.
Not since The Godfather Part II has there been a sequel as good as this one. Has taken everything that I loved from previous Max Max movies (besides Thunderdome) and puts in another gear and just explodes. No fancy CGI party, just dark, gritty, bloody, dirty and heavy action. Loved it all the way.
10 out of 10
Interstellar
I don't care if time travel isn't possible. I don't care if there are no space or time to travel through or if there are "holes" in the plot. This movie tells a fantastic story with great actors together with a good soundtrack.

And my god, it is gooooooooooood
Season 2 is next year in the early summer!I recently began watching Stranger things
And my god, it is gooooooooooood
That was one of my favorite shows. I binged all 8 episodes or whatever in like 4 days. Can't wait for a 2nd season. Those kids are quite the actors too.

The Fate of The Furious (2017) aka Fast & Furios 8
This is an easy 7 out of 10
Guardians of The Galaxy volume 2 (2017)
7.5 out of 10, "could have been better" is the word.
Don't worry. Original Blade runner is extremely boring. It was a chore to see. I recieved it on vhs from my cousin who said it is the best movie ever. No. It wasn't. Although I saw it when I was 15 so maybe I will like it now. From what I understand the sequel is pretty unnecessary .
Can you elaborate (without spoilers)? Was it just bad or was it completely unoriginal like TFA?
It had a weird plot with parts that were completely unnecessary and didnt matter at all for the end result. It had the similar "bigger is better" mentality what The Force Awakens did, which I thought was complete bollocks to begin with. And too many really lame jokes... just, too many...I haven't even decided if I will bother seeing it yet. I thought the Force Awakens was rubbish.

Black Panther (2018)
A worthy 8.5/10. It leaves a very high mark as one of the best superhero films ever.
Just finished watching Avengers: Infinity War (2018) with some coworkers and friends.
Oh yeah, it is 7.5/10 for me. Should have been longer, and the audience wouldn't mind.
Has anyone seen 1917?
If you did, what do you think of the attack scene at the end, which is visible from the trailer?
Isn't it completely bad in terms of historical accuracy? The trench design and the battlefield in general...
