Reactivate the Malta map from WaW or was it F|H and spend some time bringing it up to par... et voila: we have a winner! ^^

I totally second this suggestion even though I totally don't know how to fly an aircraft effectively in FH2. The Malta map was a WAW initiative.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the PS1 game Soul Reaver. Raziel is the name of the main character - a fallen soul-eater vampire guy. Absolutely loved this game. It was so fuckin awesome especially when you shifted from one reality to another.

Also he was one of the archangels.

Raziel is the nick I have been using since I started playing online games (BF1942). In-game you can find me as [F|H]Raziel ---> from when I used to play in the Forgotten honour tournaments.

Yesterday played a round of Crete. I must say that this facelift brought the map at par with the newest map. Also the ambience sounds are great! (Running next to the beach and seeing those deck chairs made me want to go for a swim (which I then did  ;D ) Great job!

EDIT: Also love the newly introduced minimap icons and more importantly the skull icon for AT mines in the 3D map.  :)

One thing that bothered me was the new bike animation. At first I thought it was just a start-up animation (sort of when you push your bike forward before one starts to pedal) but then I noticed that no pedalling would occur and that was the animation. I would say if no proper pedalling animation can me made due to engine limitation, then leave the bike as it was!
(on the other hand it would be absoultely hilarious if a one would spawn a number of bikes and have a whole squad charging around the map like a bunch of toddlers pushing their toy bikes - lol )

Was nice playing with you corsair, and raziel, on Cobra and Hyacinth :)  Sad that so many people left Hyacinth though :(

Also, as a note on St Vith, yah, it's giant, and incredibly detailed.  It'll take awhile getting used to it, but it is probably one of my fave maps in the game now. :)  Just keep giving it a try, and you'll get a hang of it.  I'm still constantly discovering new stuff.

Same here VonMudra!  :) As you said, during Op. Hyacinth, people seemed unaware that it is now an objective map and that allies must destroy the macchi!

I just finished a 3 hour gaming round and I must say I am seriously impressed. I've played Operation Cobra, a few seconds of St.Vith and Operation Hyacinth. All maps look beautiful. Love the new overgrowth on Cobra and the night effects of Hyacinth. Great job. The few minutes I played of St.Vith I was practically lost, running around like a head-less chicken  ;D The minimap imo is a tad too cluttered. It's too soon to pass judgements but that was my first impression of the map. Will definitely review at a later stage. (PS Love the new gloves on the US grunt)
Gameplay wise I've noticed a further increase in immersion. 2.4 introduced so many awesome things that I thought it would be impossible to further increase immersion but I was wrong.
The new blood effects are simply great,
finally suppression is working again.
Love the new bomb explosion orange glow,
bazooka effect is more realistic.
MG42 really makes you shit bricks and head for cover.
Love it that more tanks get their turrets blown off.
Driving around in vehicles now feels like real life driving.
Sprinting is great! I was sceptic that people would abuse it but this is so much better!
The increased bleeding time is also a plus! Gives you more time to call for help - medics can now be useful.
Revamped sounds make you feel more part of a battlefield. (Absolutely love the FW190 taking off - Give you a sense of absolute power!)
I can go on forever.  :)
Last but not least even I have noticed that although graphics have been upgraded I didn't see any performance drop. I was running on 1280x1024 4xAA and AF all settings between medium and high. It was absolute bliss and on a full server I must add.

All in all EXCELLENT JOB devs! and a big thank you!

PS Also new minimap + compass is great! One can now more easily give direction of incoming targets.
