What people want to see in a WW2 movie ? Real and accurate battles, tanks, uniforms and story or Americans who can kill 100 enemy before dying and who can destroy a Tiger with sticky socks... (what a joke)... I'm really curious if any allied soldiers tried to destroy a Tiger only one time by this way...
At least you can see a wonderful scene in "Tali-Ihantala 1944" with Finish soldiers and Panzerfaust, an accurate and real way to try to kill enemy tanks !!!

A reason why American war films are the way they are is a large product of culture and simply the effects of the war. The US, outside of soldiers, came out of the war unscathed. Our cities weren't totaled and our civilian populations never decimated. WW2 comes off a lot differently than the cynical and to be fair much more accurate European films. The US is culturally dominant for the time being so our films have larger budgets and greater markets. People sometimes take this too personally, many Americans do understand more about the war. Popular film will never reflect this, it is simply designed for the lowest common denominator.

errm.... do you mind elaborating, Biivis - cuz I totally agree with Blue.

I really don't get people's issue -Its about perspective...

What is more, EVEN IN a war, other nations have had romantic views of it all in some context and this is represented in theri writings. The fact this generation is suddenly anti-war altogether doesn't mean we should anachronistically paste our impression upon the way it was percieved in the past. There are, and always have been many perspectives of war in the past, just as now... Both in America and the rest of the world

The impression that Americans are naive, overbloated and war-mongering and the rest of the world has a more realistic impression about war is a bloody lie... Their media just shows this side is all...

I mean, really... Apart from hardcore WW2 fans, most people would just like to see a movie where good triumphs over evil - Even SPR, for the average viewer was a bit harsh... Can you fault them?

Weren't Finland technically an axis country? If so, see the movies previous mentioned in this thread.

As for Germany? I think it would be politically impossible to make a movie about the axis triumph without also showing their following decline. I don't think the french would like to see axis troops parading on Champs-Elysées as the closing credits.

Well,you would get free propaganda!
Imagine a film about the Invasion of Crete, why would it be banned?

No.

It speaks volumes that you can't even be arsed to write more than one word to refute my opinion.

I don't know what exactly you mean by epic. There is something like Das Boot, which is in many ways fairly epic. For my money I think it is one of the best, if not the best WW2 film. There is also Stalingrad, which is a flawed but interesting film. I know Finland and Italy have some interesting films as well.

Since I havnt played FH1 Im courious about the early stages of Westen Front.
