amen!

that, combined with the size and speed of german heavy tanks, which are also mostly unable to deflect shots at an unreasonable angle (thx to the BF2 engine), makes axis tanks truly undesirable. and looking at the kind of attention one gets for using a german heavy, even more so!

nowadays a simple sherman is the better choice in almost all circumstances.

i do not want to critizise more than needed, but you did not handle that one in any professional way.

and no THeTA0123: no time for a revolt.

just a hint that the BF2 engine obviously seems to favour some types of armour, which should be considered in future releases.

UNDERPERFORMING?

well, with a certain FH2 knowledge you can defeat much more heavily armoured units as easily as quite underarmored units (reportedly thx to the BF2 engine, and not because of the weak-points).

combine that with the current overall approach, and you might find one side at a bit of a disadvantage. not much (thx to overall balancing), but noticable!

@ THeTA0123: why did you delete your posting between my last two ones?

it would be nice to have a useless geman unit which takes allied attention away of the already underperforming german mbts (KT, Tiger, Panther).

in my opinion FH should not follow the PR example, on the contrary.

PR refines the original modern warfare provided by BF2.

FH2 is a ww2 mod based on a modern warfare game, and with the current ultrarealism approach we limit the playerpool even more. frankly said: we are limited to players liking ww2, AND realism, in a modern warfare game. see the difference?

if i would be in charge, i would make our game a bit less refined, with a not-that-steep learning curve. there are lots of ww2 liking BF2 players around, but atm they have to get used to a complete new game with already PR like difficulties, and not that attractive playernumbers.

remember that we ultimately want to attract BF2 players to ww2: less weponspread, newbie usable anti-tank weapons and nosecam for planes might do wonders.

and now stone me...

Because every fucking server keeps playing ONLY normandy maps. holy shit.

realy?

we have quite a bunch of african maps in the cycle, and we are playing them on a regular basis, despite the problem that NORMANDY ONLY servers get better playernumbers quite some of the time.

I think FH2's realism is hurting it to some degree. The masses are attracted to games they can jump into and immediately get into the action. Combined with the learning curve I think it's just working against FH.

There is also a more robust list of games today that FH is competing against for the FPS crowd.

spot on!

FH1 was a more realistic refinement of a most popular online ww2 fps, namely BF42.

FH2 takes the realistic approach to still another level compared to the late FH1 versions, with a BF2 playerpool mostly being used to the original games arcardy modern warfare.

and dont compare FH to PR. they keep the basegames modern szenario, but altering the "realism" level to the extreme. and, also important, they released the mod much earlier.

good to see some likeminded FH-players, giving some good input.

i especially like the idea of an underground bunker system hosting the very last flag. otherwise the approach should be kept as simple as in FH1, namely an overwhelming force of US late war units vs a much smaller force of experimental/latewar german equipement, including some defensive fortifications in a somewhat defendable landscape.

ps: major easteregg with impossible spawning conditions ftw!  ;D

a sensible suggestion? in my opinion yes!

almost all needed ingredients are already ingame. all thats missing are some jetplanes (already supported by the BF2 engine) and the twin-bofors aaa-tank.

alpenfestung was one of FH1s fav maps, and i strongly believe that a refined FH2 remake would please the FH1 veterans, while giving the FH2 players something completely new.

i see benefits in almost all ways:

- an extra fictional-war-scenario without a very big effort.
- the FH-veterans will be very pleased.
- if the map is only somewhat like the known FH2 standard, it will be epic.
- that special easter-egg, but try to include usable weapons.

Combining a rifle and a shotgun is just cool. nice that this weapon is finally in-game! :D
The new plane isn´t that important to me, since I´m more an earth-bound guy, but it still looks nice. Way to go, FH-Devs!

thats an ordinary hunting-rifle.
