You are a badass, good sir. I very much thank you for doing this. Many hours of late-night playing are about to begin.

FH 0.7 Help / Support / Re: Can I get Battlefield 1942?

I'm sure there's a place you can find it online. There are multitudes of places to buy games and if you have to, you can probably find a decent copy on eBay.

Oh yeah I see the problems with it. I just think it's an interesting element that isn't often seen. What I would do (if I could create things from a whim) would be to have it in there, just make it to where you could drive around Gazala 5 or 6 times and then get low on fuel. But with all the things the game needs (Russia, more Russia, even more Russia), it would be a waste of time to even think about. But, it would be cool.

And true that about not living long enough. We were being very careful to not get too close and really work together, which is why we lived for so long (well, the main factor was we were fighting the AI, which even turned up quite high still isn't too much of a challenge).

I would love to see something like a gearbox failure or tracks coming off from a hit. Along with something like aileron failure on a plane (reducing the roll speed) and other things like that. However I'm pretty darn sure those things aren't possible with this engine.

General Discussion / Vehicle Fuel Idea
« on: 29-10-2014, 06:10:12 »
So I was pounding around on El Alamein on coop with a friend of mine, running a few Panzer III's through their paces and getting quite a few kills against the AI. We were being careful and ended up surviving so long that we ran out of ammo a few times. So I was thinking, it would be interesting to limit fuel. Not to something ridiculous. Just something to where you might have to stop for fuel if you decide to drive around the map a few times. Obviously it's an impractical feature, so I didn't post it in the suggestions.

What I'm curious about is would it be possible to do on this engine? I think fuel is a feature left out of a lot of games (for good reasons sometimes), but it would be interesting to see it implemented in a more practical way (with supply trucks and tank trailers supplying fuel, a decent, practical range, etc).

What are yall's thoughts?

I was just browsing through the news on the main site a few minutes ago, just looking at all the Russia stuff.

I love looking at the photos of the La-5, and flipping back and fourth to see the difference in paint schemes and markings. Then I noticed that on the fuselage, there is one panel that never changes color.

Is this intentional? If so, why?

Not a complaint in any way, the model really is awesome, as are the skins. Just curious  ;D

The post on the main site was a little unclear, has the masterserver fix already happened, or is it still in the works?

If it has, then I'm having an issue. I try to log in to an online account and it says it doesn't exist. I had to start the game with the "login as" field in the launcher set to "none" in order for the game to start. Do I have to create a new account or will it be migrated over at some future point?

And if it hasn't happened yet, I guess that would be normal!

Why is it that kits are in different spots in the menu on different maps? Is it something that has to be changed manually or is it something the game does automatically?

General Discussion / Re: Eastern Front

You know, I'm from one of the biggest dickhead countries in the world (good ol' US of A), yet I don't see myself as someone who wants to destroy cultures and invade other nations. Nobody I know sees me that way.

You want to know what I think about when I hear the word Turkey? Mostly I think about Istanbul, Hagia Sophia and how gorgeous the country is. Plus the food is amazing. It's got a very rich history. When I think about modern-day Turkey I mostly think about the Turkish photographers I follow (as I am a photographer myself), and they create some of the most interesting and unique work I've seen.

So please, don't think that everyone is judging you. Who you are is not defined by the history of your nation. If I was defined by the history of mine, I wouldn't be saying this right now. When I join a community of a group (of any type, on and off the internet) I always assume that I will be accepted, and when people have issues with me, I don't hate on the whole group, I confront the individuals.

History is history. This is today. We are not defined by the past, but we should allow it to help us grow and learn lessons so we can interact with each other better and hopefully aspire to accept everyone, of any culture.

Unfortunately the RSC 1917 was only used in small numbers and after the war they were mostly turned into repeaters by disabling the gas system.

I would love to see 1940 France in the game. However I've been dying to play on the Russian front for years.

Suggestions / Re: Kar98k + PzB 39 + Luger issues
« on: 16-04-2014, 06:04:16 »
From what I've read the sight hood mounts came on rifles made after 1939. I had a 1942 duv Kar98 a while ago and it had the option. I would assume that in 1941/42 quite a few of the rifles issued would be made prior to 1940. Just a small little update. Kind of like the front barrel band changes that were made in 1943 and the magazine floor plate changes in 1944.

There are captured tanks. Bardia has them, as does Siege of Tobruk. Teamlocked vehicles is historically accurate, and it should stay that way.

Bug Reporting / Puma Damage bug?
« on: 13-04-2014, 06:04:27 »
I was messing around on Bastogne today, just playing with some AI, and I got in the Puma to go have some fun. I was a bit surprised to find it's off road capabilities - as well as on-road capabilities - pretty hindered. As I go over bumps, any bumps at all, it would take considerable damage. I only made it about half a mile before I took so much damage that I got out and went of foot. Is this a bug or an error? Because I seriously doubt it's meant to be that way. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, I tried the Puma on Luttich as well, same issue.

I haven't had much of a chance to get online, with work and school getting in the way, but I managed to play Gold Beach on singleplayer tonight. I have to say, that map is incredible. I have a feeling that online, Omaha will be the favorite, but I am in love with that map. It's actually difficult, but not impossible to capture bases. The AI is also really improved. I have to say, this update has really put the fun back in offline play for me. Hopefully this summer I will have more time to play online and give Omaha a shot.

Side note: I played around on Port-En-Bessin a bit and tried out the G41(W). Wonderful rifle. It adds so much to the game. The details are what I've always loved about FH2.

My one problem is, where the hell is the MP-34? I've been searching (as I like to play around with the new guns) and I can't find it. Anyone have any clues for me?

Fantastic update. Well, well worth the wait.

Off-Topic / Re: Rare Mosin?

Pop off the bolts holding the magazine/trigger guard on, and then get the barrel bands off the little clip deals, and you're set. Neat to see another one of the East German-marked rifles. If I were you, I would just keep it. Don't sell it. Having an interesting piece of history is worth more than the money you could get, in my opinion. I have a torn up old Carcano M1891 cavalry carbine that has an Egyptian coin inlaid into the stock, along with some brass and copper pieces making an interesting pattern. I could get maaaaaybe $200 for it, but it's priceless to me. I love it. It's the one rifle in my collection that I will never sell.
