bingo! Those explosions need to have a larger physical explosion and not just a larger kill radius. we need to see shockwaves, baby! Refering to the SU thing's blast radius, not the wasp

Whenever I switch game from this to say, Modern warfare 2, I note a couple of things:

1/How pretty COD looks,
2/How interesting the various deaths look,
3/The storyline,

and regarding Fh2

1/How pretty FH2 looks, and the effects that make me feel the pressure of warfare eg. suppression etc,
2/How effective its sound is in convincing me of the various feedbacks eg. that fact that I'm being shot at, say,
3/How great the gameplay is, and how much I feel proud of each kill,
4/How satisfying many deaths feel when I put in a good hit,
5/How I have no game with better game-play and a sense that I am the master of my fate (And I have games from Lemmings to Black Ops and BC2)

Now it may be a 6 year old engine, but frankly, I don't see good reason to switch a damn thing. Its all coloured bubbles really, this whole new engine... blabla bla... We want tanks to blow up in THIS way, we want planes to spiral out of control, we want decaptutions, we want Germans to fricking jump out from fricking wardropes... Its all coloured bubbles.

We're still discovering new ways to improve game-play and explore more options with this engine. I still play Unreal tournament 1, and am loathe to play Unreal tournament 3. Why? Because I feel Unreal Tournament has better gameplay. GAME-PLAY. It doesn't come with graphics, level destruction or engine toys, it comes from simple mechanics like feedback, control sensitivity and how the game mechanics work together.

if it eint broke, why fix it.

Let me put it is this way

If i look at todays games i see=
Good graphics ragdolls animations and such.. but oh wait, always the same content.. and less and less content

When i see FH2 i see=
hundreds of weapons, nations, tanks, apcs, jeeps, trucks,Artillery, AA guns, anti tank guns, planes and more fighting eachother on over 30 high quality maps
I see a fine combination of historical accuracy, gameplay, fun and realism
I see a fine mature community.

Sorry but FH2 has hundreds of things what todays games have. Todays games are all about BLING and shine and few on Gameplay, content, fun and the good old roots of online gaming.
i am NOT saying this is with all videogames.

Even though most will agree it was time to move from BF42 to BF2, with such things as ironsights, smarter bots, etc, etc... We also lost alot. The engine was not made for the scope of FH, or WW2 for that matter - Yet, we have made good with it... do you really want us to move to a new engine and find out that we can't even have aircrafts, say.... Or vehicles?

*gasp* Eastern Front!

AWESOME, thanks guys... 8)

Off-topic: I honestly can't imagine what the shift to a new engine would have to offer that would be worth the price of having to start the mod from scratch again... :-\

Very nice update, Haven't playing lately because i was frustrated by my sub standard pc.

There is one quetion that is burning on my lips: Did the defs got some of their models fromthe BGF mod? Because that would speed things up alot. Even if you have to do things over for quality sake.

Still hoping to see their tank system ingame.

I hope not because those things lacked low resolution detail. At low res, some tanks were made up of triangles. Besides, it was clearly stated that it was designed by Toddel, with no mention of a BGF dev.

I think I can answer in the negative to that question.

As said before by Seth Soldier, creating models/textures isn't such a hard job, the other things like creating a playable map and a believable evironment + coding all the stuff is the real hard job.

I´d loved to see an announcement regarding possible changes of the infantry and tank combat systems, but the announcement of the Eastern Front is good, too. Hopefully we´ll se regular news updates, showing off new Eastern Front equipment.
Btw, what time period will be covered with the first EF release? I guess mid-war (maybe even Op. Zitadelle?) but was there an official statement, already?

Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

I planted this evil seed about tank and infantry systems - My apologies, devs. Its all propaganda.

Sure, it was always a concern, but not one that invaded every recent thread...

From 'Altered: Tank combat system'
Yepp, tanking can be more fun, and we're working on that. 8)
