Whenever I switch game from this to say, Modern warfare 2, I note a couple of things:
1/How pretty COD looks,
2/How interesting the various deaths look,
3/The storyline,
and regarding Fh2
1/How pretty FH2 looks, and the effects that make me feel the pressure of warfare eg. suppression etc,
2/How effective its sound is in convincing me of the various feedbacks eg. that fact that I'm being shot at, say,
3/How great the gameplay is, and how much I feel proud of each kill,
4/How satisfying many deaths feel when I put in a good hit,
5/How I have no game with better game-play and a sense that I am the master of my fate (And I have games from Lemmings to Black Ops and BC2)
Now it may be a 6 year old engine, but frankly, I don't see good reason to switch a damn thing. Its all coloured bubbles really, this whole new engine... blabla bla... We want tanks to blow up in THIS way, we want planes to spiral out of control, we want decaptutions, we want Germans to fricking jump out from fricking wardropes... Its all coloured bubbles.
We're still discovering new ways to improve game-play and explore more options with this engine. I still play Unreal tournament 1, and am loathe to play Unreal tournament 3. Why? Because I feel Unreal Tournament has better gameplay. GAME-PLAY. It doesn't come with graphics, level destruction or engine toys, it comes from simple mechanics like feedback, control sensitivity and how the game mechanics work together.
if it eint broke, why fix it.
