FH2 Help / Support / BF2 on Steam and wanna play FH2?
« on: 03-10-2010, 11:10:18 »
Here's how you do it if you bought BF2 on Steam and wanna play Forgotten Hope 2

1 ) Make sure you have BF2 in your games list
- Link to product on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/24860/

2 ) Start it up and check that it works by joining a server and just playing

3 ) Download Forgotten Hope 2
- Link to main page: http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/

4 ) Install Forgotten Hope 2 and make sure you got the latest version installed

5 ) When BF2 and FH2 is installed, go in to the Steam/Steamapps/Common/BF2/Mods/FH2 and copy the shaders_client file and just copy it into Steam/Steamapps/Common/BF2/Mods/BF2

6 ) Open Steam, go to settings and click on "In-game" tab and make sure the Steam Community (Shift+Tab) is not active. Steam, Punkbuster and the overlay community function will not work in BF2/FH2. So if you wanna play FH2, you gotta click the box so it's not active or else PB will kick you within five minutes.

Also check the Downloads+Cloud tab and remove the Steam Cloud function

- Now we have removed two things that would fuck up Punkbuster while hunting town evil Tigers on St.Lo breakthrough

7 ) Manually update Punkbuster. Use PBsetup and just add Battlefield 2 and check for updates. Great way if PB starts giving you the trouble.

Can be found here: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

8 ) Start Battlefield 2, log in, click on community and custom games. Activate Forgotten Hope 2. BF2 will close and FH2 will start.

8.1 ) You can also add FH2 directly to Steam's my games list via the "add non Steam game" at "add game" menu.

9 ) Join a server, have fun and lets us know if it doesn't work!

A new patch is upon us and good spirits are filling up the community in these last days of September

Todays question is: What can you and I do to make this community better?

- We have a good community here, it's big but still full of people who make it what it is. How can we bring more people here and show them what a wonderful place these forums are and how damn good Forgotten Hope 2 is?

Share your ideas and remember no idea is too small or too big, everything is welcome

- And remember: This thread is not going to be about "Do we want more players and be like PR lol?" or something like "No more stupid people please we like it small"

I'm looking for your opinions regarding FH2 and the current status of Clan events/Matches

Please share your thoughts and ideas!

Gaming / Silent Hunter: The Games, The Mods and more
« on: 14-09-2010, 15:09:42 »

So, I'm installing Silent Hunter III. Bought it years ago but never really gave it a go and just forgot about it.

Tried Silent Hunter II even more years ago and really liked it, me and a buddy used to run the first mission over and over again where you hunt down Polish destroyers between Denmark and Sweden.

Anyhow, regarding SH III, I'm looking into mods, patches and all kinds of stuff. If we look beyond the game and the latest patch, what else do I need, what is essential to you?

Anything else regarding the Silent Hunter series is also welcome!

Off-Topic / Mafia II: Guns, Booze, Demo!
« on: 18-08-2010, 16:08:27 »

The Mafia II demo is out on Steam. My laptop can't handle it but thank God my brothers PC does.

Loved the demo, gonna try to restart the old Mafia ASAP

Anybody else tried the new demo or the previous Mafia game?

In my book it's one of the best single player games out there from it's era

Off-Topic / The Great Football thread
« on: 17-08-2010, 11:08:45 »
After the World Cup we need this to follow some real football!

The Premier League is up and running since Tottenham and Manchester City ended with 0 - 0 after an amazing performance by City goalkeeper Joe Hart. Will it be another PL season where the big teams fight for silverware undisturbed or will we see some new uprising teams join in as well?

La Liga is starting at the end of this month with Mourinho behind the wheel of Real Madrid and as always, Pep Guardiola leading Barcelona. Anything but an epic clash of the titans will be disappointing.

Serie A will start the same weekend with 17 teams from the previous A season and 3 new teams from the Serie B, Roma, Sampdoria and Udinese.

So, what's your team and your feelings for this upcoming season?

I'm rooting as usual for the Spurs in the PL, we could have had a better start but Hart was mad that Saturday afternoon. Hopefully we'll be in the top fighting for the big win but it'll be hard. Chelsea is too good ATM.

Off-Topic / Songs for your funeral (Read first post)
« on: 11-05-2010, 20:05:39 »

If you were to choose songs for your funeral that would be played during the ceremony

What songs should that be and why?

RULES

1. Write something, don't just post a YouTube link. Write why just that particular song, maybe even a anecdote

2. Just to be clear, no spamming. If you like to spam YouTube links, go to 'Which kind of music are you listening to?' thread a few threads down and GTFO of this thread'

Try to keep it something like this, or at least a bit organized

Quote from: Rawhide
This is how I would start it off

Beyond the sea - Bobby Darin  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEIDep_UMmk

Why: Mainly to keep it a bit upbeat to begin with but not too much. Lovely song that I have been in love with for too long.

A day in the life - The Beatles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBJj10rYmdg

Why: One of my favorite tracks from the The Beatles, a song and band that has been with me for a long time

Rötter - Lasse Tennander http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B6V9LsxvdY

Why: Swedish song about lost love and about the roots of where you came from. Beautiful song.

Keep it clean, we are not here to become members of the Master Spammer user group.

Off-Topic / The Great Show and Tell Thread
« on: 07-04-2010, 21:04:58 »

For too long our beloved forum has been going strong without a thread like this

This thread is called The Great Show and Tell Thread

Quote
Show and tell is the process of showing an audience  something and telling them about it, predominantly in North America. It is usually done in a classroom as an early elementary school technique for teaching young children the skills of public speaking. Usually, a child will bring an item from home and will explain to the class why they chose that particular item, where they got it, and other relevant information.

In these threads you and I will show pictures of stuff. But not just any stuff, therefor there are some rules

- Post your stuff, not your friends stuff or something that you're gonna get or maybe get later

- Your own picture, saying you have X and then showing a boring random picture of it you got from Google is just plain boring

- Beware the size of your pictures

- Show and tell. Show it, tell us about it

Remember, you can take any object so long it doesn't get nasty or something like that, remember, regular forum rules are still active even in this thread.

Other then that, the object you choose to show and tell about can be anything.

This is an example

My leather jacket

This is me and my leather jacket. I bought about a year ago for some money. There are many like it but this one is mine. It's a copy of the jacket Marlon Brando had in "The Wild One" and the one James Dean often used while riding his motorcycle

I've had some great times with this jacket. It gets ladies. I love this jacket.

So, lets start showing and telling!

Off-Topic / US Health care reforms
« on: 24-03-2010, 00:03:12 »

Quote
U.S. President Barack Obama signs the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law, enacting a set of health care reforms.

The vote was tight but they got it through, your thoughts on this?

I still can't see for shit why so many yanks are against this reform. Maybe because I'm European or something but I just can't see it. Not even with my right wing Republican glasses from the 1950's with UFO radar and commie spy vision I can't bloody see why anybody should resist a reform like this.

So, another Civilization game once again. Same story for me, I keep telling myself I don't want it. Saying I've played the previous games and I know what it's about.

Still, halfway through the this teaser I'm sold. I'm a whore for Civilization.

Just started up Civilization IV: Beyond the sword...

For I am thy whore, sweet Civilization.

Song can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYtGsvoBVw8

Also found Leonard Cohen's "The Partisan" also one great song.

Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG4ndbhOkpI

Any other songs you can recommend with an influence or relation to WW1/WW2?
