No hard feelings please, but the first one was rather horrid. The "experts" looked and talked like amateurs adoring him above all means. And it makes a huge difference whether I talk about the "nice"-regiment or the "body"-regiment (meaning a bodyguard-regiment: cp. "Leib-Standarte").
And on top of that with Wittmann, the prototype of a nazi soldier is being documentated. From a moral viewpoint I consider that questionable.

I usually imagine my own sounds with it, like `tjunk, tupdieyupdiedee` aaa enemy spotted, ratatatataboom

I've got the whole TANKS! series on DVD. Not too bad documentaries, but they arent the best either. Their biggest flaw is that they are just too long and repeat same things you have already heard and learned about either before watching the documentary or during the same episode. Episodes are too long for my taste as when it starts getting dangling to very small details, it gets very numbing. WaW for the win.

It is not a bad series (same goes to the whole BATTLEFIELD series) but the episodes (which afaik were supposed to be in episodes when viewed via TV, but in DVD they are just one long episodes) are way too long to keep the interest up from start to finish.

Has anyone here been watching the "Commanders At War" series?  It is on the Military Channel for those that have cable in the US (not sure about others outside the US).

It is one of the better documentary shows I have seen recently.

Hehe, the "Leib-Standarte" bugged me too. The funny thing is, that if you listen closely, you can hear that they redubbed the word sometimes, maybe to add the missing -e at the end. But they ignored the immensly more obvious mistake in pronouncing "Leib-". In the end it's no big deal, but you start wondering what kind of experts they really are...
