Just felt like pointing out that this is a fun tank map. Not as huge as Gazala, more concentrated, and always intense tank battles over the middle flag. Just saying that this maps size is perfect for tank battles IMO, since Gazala is a bit big and requires you to drive forever to get to the  action

it's by far the best artillery map, all CPs are obtainable targets making artillery a possible match winner.

I think it could be better just if there was some more room for tanks to manoeuvre. But its still quite fun to play with a Crusader or Daimler in that map. :P

Dammit, Flippy. You are losing your magic Aberdeen hating touch.

I had great expectations while entering this thread :(

yeah, i rather like that one too, for the pz III J late tho i can do w/out the sandbags on the turret roof. they ruin the "lines" of the tank. built up a 1:48 scale model of a late J

I dislike Aberdeed because of its arcade style and design... In Fh2, more so than one, I really wish the devs will keep trying to make maps as real to the battle as possible - Aberdeen is on the complete other end of this scale for that... A small wistful part of me hopes they'd actually come up with another version that plays less arcade

As for tactics and gameplay, I really haven't had the heart to appreciate it - all I know is:
1/ slopes are too sharp indicating massive scaling
2/ Distances between one end to the next is too small emphasising massive scaling
3/ Terrian from one feature to the next is too close reminiding me of the massive scaling...
4/ It lacks any unique map feature as though it was cooked up as a generic-desert map, exactly in the same way as its predecessor, slapping my with the hard realities that..you guessed it, it uses massive scaling!

It will take me closing one eye to really appreciate this map :-/

Aberdeen is fun even with all of its shortcomings.

However, it would probably work much better just by keeping the "featured" areas as is, and in their current (relative) locations, but doubling the height and width of the map. This would make the slopes more gentle and put more distance between the features, and would also give more space to manoeuver.

Also, the airstrip area of the map is kinda neglected (except for those few British tank drivers using that as a flaking route). Maybe add a flag there that does not affect the bleed, but make the spotter (Cub/Storch) spawn dependent on the control of the airstrip map - and make the plane respawn after it gets shot down. Maybe have also a couple of 2pdrs/PaK38's spawn there to help whoever is holding the flag to keep it.

Map is so puny, i barely see the point of scout planes... if you see it in the scout's area, then you are already in its LOS, IMO

Yes. Now it's so small.

If doubled - or even quadrupled - then there would be a real Fog of War and a real need for spotters. Making the airstrip a desirable flag to hold on to.

Indeed...spread out, much larger to make real tank battles and ALSO add sandstorms... .We don't have any in a desert map... with tactical importance... Or at least just radically reduce the LOS to make it challenging
