Spider spotted. I'd say about an inch in length, he eluded me and I could have easily pursued and killed, however I need to sleep.

Hehe, I will try to get a pic of a local bus station here at Lake Constance, if you go out for one of their brethren, then that means war... but beware, the pic won't be good for people suffering from arachnophobia. ^^

So, I don't have to work for 3 days, piece of metal fell on the back of my foot at work right where the muscle is attached to the heel. Hurts like hell and I don't seem to fit in my shoes anymore due to swelling. I am glad nothing is riped or broken though.

In our workplace, yes, fatality every 5 years, serious incident every year, small things like this, weekly.

As example, I got burned twice this year, once by a boiling base, once by electricity (a lamp that was not working, but turned out to be incredibly hot) Also various small cuts, but those are no big deal, and now this.

Also, last Tuesday somebody was opening up an air-conditioning unit that was installed in the roof of a train. When he opened the hatch above him a large piece of metal that had gotten loose fell down just in front of him, could have easily gave him a big cut on his head.

Man, safety procedure in your workplace must improve, otherwise you will experience shitty period of lacking of manpower. Adopt a few practices from aerospace industries, they are one of the best in the field.

I remembered now, it was TheTA0123 who were having the same injury as you (his foot tendon was injured/nearly severed).

Safety is already rather high, problem is so is the workload. If we follow the rules to the letter then we would not even accomplish 1/4 of what we do now. Changing a light bulb in a train would literally be a 30 minute job for 2 people. We cut corners where we can without bringing ourselves in danger to much.

What happened to me now was my own fault, I was aware of the situation, I just moved to slow.

5kg plate. If it was the edge that hit his foot... I wouldn't like to try that.

Yeah, sometimes the current procedure is too stringent and irrelevant to real situation. That happens very often, but people rarely revise the document.

Get well soon then... meanwhile, enjoy your rest.

I love "Safety Madness" (as I like to call it).  :P

It's why I try and avoid working on construction sites, too many pointless hoops to jump through.

Ah construction sites... I remember one in Dubai, where they managed to 'dispose' 2 workers into the foundation of a skyscraper. ^^

I saw a bigass moth today... I think it was similar to this one on this pic:

I poked it with a stick and it fell to the floor... I guess it doesn't like flying in the sunshine... I'm sure the hotel pool occupants were pleasantly surprised when they spotted it under their sunbed...  :o
