Tank sight tutorial
« on: 05-10-2009, 18:10:34 »
Are there any good tutorial to explain in detail how to use tanks sight plz ?
Except the middle triangle, what all the others signs are usefull for ?
And is it possible to find information for each tank sight (because they are so different each others) ?

The German tank sights (the ones with the "triangles" as in the screenshot) will never be functional due to the limitations of the engine. IF they were functional, you should choose the ammo type, and thus the "needle" would be either on the PzGr (AP) or SpGr (HE) scale. You would then twist a knob to set the range in 100s of meters (2, 4, 6, 8...) and the vertical position of the triangle would adjust accordingly. Of course, the trick would be to know the proper range :P But if you knew the range, you would no longer have to guess (or very painfully and slowly learn) the correct elevation anymore.

Yes, tank sights in FH2 are no more than glorified crosshairs.

To learn about how they worked in real life, you could read the Tiger fibel;

http://tiger1.info/fibel/

Gunner's part starts at page 66.

Are you asking about FH2 sights or in reality?

As already mentioned in FH2 they are just eye candy but in reality they were very accurate.

The triangles are used to determine the range. The tank crews would know the dimensions of the enemies vehicles. Depending on how many triangles the target filled, the crew would know that if the target covers one triangle and he is X meters long/high, he must be X meters way etc. They could also use this to get the correct lead on a moving target.

Don't they teach German in schools anymore?

"It is forbidden for the Sherman to enter the clover leaves". Meaning, the Sherman shouldn't get in the green areas, because then it can kill the Tiger.

That's kind of weird, because all German schools teach English starting in the 5th grade ( a second language starting in the 7th)

Its the french that refuse speaking English, they are so stubborn.

In my opinion everybody should speak Finnish, its so easy to pronounce and best language anyway.
