Why isn't there a player beside the cannon of the Marder?

I played Mt Olympus, and the graphical quality is on FH2 level. The gameplay however is more fitted for the tournament than for public play.

Modding / [WIP] Meknassy
« on: 02-04-2009, 14:04:38 »
Hi
I recently started my first own map, mostly to get accustomed with the editor. It is based on the raid on Meknassy, a town in Tunisia. American troops raided the town and made several italian prisoners. I chose this scenario because there are not many italian maps so far and even less italian vs USA maps. In reality the raid happened at night, so I might choose to convert it to a nightmap once I start messing around with the lighting options. So far I'm mostly building the terrain and static objects. The map is small (the size of Sfakia I think) and will be infantry heavy.

Now some WIP-pictures, I will upload more as I progress:

I have to check the server more often... or are you referring to the "shooting range" maps?

The point is that the players and the developers can work in synchronicity. The players reoprt small bugs while the developers fix them.
Devs are not there to just fix bugs. They also have to worry about developing content, and if every FH2 player floods the private forums with 2+ insignificant bug posts they will be overwhelmed.

By the way: My suggestion includes the fact that the developers would fix major problems outright, leaving the players to find the infintesimal bugs that will appear only after hurs of gaming.
But thats what our (like Apple said) huge beta testing team is for, and trust me when I say we do test FH2 for hours every week. Its more than just releasing map files. We get a new patch almost every week ranging from 80mb to 780mb. Currently there are more than enough patches to discourage a lot of casual players from downloading them all.

In conclusion I'd just like to say FH2 will be released when its finished!

Ok I understand this. But why can't we know what maps are in development? Or just know more things in general? I understand everything is WIP, but why cannot you keep us updated on that? This is a free mod and I dont see why you cant be open with development. Please tell me.

The maps in developement are not a secret to forum regulars:

From newsupdates:
Point du Hoc
Lebisey
Operation Lüttich

From the testserver:
Purple Heart Lane (which is apparently almost done and according to Lightning Natty "only has to take the pictures for a news update")
Falaise Pocket
Villers Bocage
Operation Goodwood (fairly recent, only been on like one time, Lightning said it is still very rough)

I was always for a black and white FH2. I mean seriously, when you are an expert and sight hours after hours of genuine WW2 footage (like me) you just know beyond any doubt that it's the only way to truly represent this conflict.

The 2.2 release should get a lot of people playing again. Maybe then I can find an american server with people actually playing on it.  8)

all funny anti-americanism aside, I don't believe that they don't play the game because they are not in it.

Yes, but if I were to post a huge picture I could post it behind spoiler tags so it won't mess up your Forum interface.

You know what would really kill? A joint operation april fool's joke with the PR-folks. Something like "we decided to do PR: WW2, together with the FH2 team" or something.

Tbh I find the limited spawning in FH2 more elegant than the kit requests in PR.

The Greasegun was quite rare in Normandy, I suppose it will be pick up only, possibly in commando kits.

Yeah, but when it comes to playing it boils down to sniper kits, special smg kits with bigger explosives and grapple hooks, tank hunter kits and the occasional machine gun. Most of these are complementary and placed in positions where they make sense gameplay wise. They are more gimmicks than the "serious" limited kits of PR, which offer weapons you can't spawn with.
On the other hand I think we will see more pickup kits in normandy, to represent rarer late war weapons like the G43, the Stg44 or the M3 Grease gun.
