Summer - pros and cons
« on: 17-05-2010, 20:05:19 »
What do you think about summer? What is good or bad about it?

I think summer is great for these reasons: I'm not freezing my ass off when fishing, plus I don't need to go to school, and having summer jobs is a great way to make some money.

Bad stuff: Thunderstorms. I hate 'em. They always come when I'm having a good time playing and i have to quit and disconnect the power and ADSL cords to prevent hardware damage. And the weather is so moist just before them that I start to grow moss on my ass. FFS!

Hay fever here too. Just the Spring and a small step into the summer but still it ruins alot of the good weather. Technically not Summer con.

Pro's:
Summer means nice weather + rainstorms once in a time. I love those. 25 degrees and then rain. Love it.
Anyways, summer is also large vacation to somewhere warmer, Corsica this year. 3 motherfucking weeks. Super pro thing.
More money because I work more. Like 100 euros more a month then in the winter months.

Con's:
Hot. I don't like too hot. Plus if it's really hot it's unbearable to game and I must say I even enjoy some gaming when it's hotter.
Alot of work. Because it's summer everyone wants to walk into the forest and buy drinks and food. Meaning I work double. But the work is also a con. Money!

In the end Summer is cool.

To break this vicious circle one must do more than act without thought or doubt."

You actually unplug your stuff during a storm? I've never done that.

Of course I do. You Lighting has 100 000 volts and more in electricity and too much voltage will kill your computer, if you're unlucky. So I'm playing it safe.

Hay fever here too.

My grandmother does it as well, since that lightning struck and destroyed all electronics in the house, even the wiring, Pieces of brick from the chimney flew over 30 meters far. Was quite a bang she said.

Pros: Warmer weather, some more colour outside, a bit of a tan, hot girls in short shorts, no need for gloves.

Cons: The evening rains, storms, hayfever, wasps, mosquitos, flies, farmers fertilizing the fields, heat a night making it hard to sleep, sweating during the day making you sticky, sunburn

all i can think of now, will come up with more later

I've never unplugged anything either. Maybe that's because I don't live in hickville and all the cables are underground 8)

Birches spewing their sperm into the air and making me sneeze = meh. But I don't care, I take a pill every morning and then it's just warm and light which is awesome.
It's half naked people on boats. That's all.
Here in Finland we call that "summer".

Pros:

-- I don't have to listen to my brother bitch about going to school.
-- Occasional pool parties and barbecues.
-- The sound of a running Air conditioner helps me sleep (kinda moot, since I keep my A/C running year round).

Cons:

-- My brother is home all day to annoy me and hog the computer/video games/TV.
-- I have to interact with my extended family at the occasional pool parties and barbecues.
-- IT'S FUCKING HOT!  I hate the heat.  Nothing makes me more miserable than being hot and sweaty without doing anything to exert myself.  See: A/C running year-round in my bedroom.
