This looks pretty epic, though I'd have to talk to a soldier who has tried it in the field to see if it really is THAT amazing. Based on what I've read here and other places, it seems like a pretty useful weapon, especially in open terrain where your enemy is probably hiding behind a flat surface with no roof over his head.

I know if I were out there on the battlefield I would want something like this!

Compared to other "wonder weapons" militaries are working on these days this one seems to be pretty damn practical. Point and shoot.

Whats the penetration of the shrapnell? A simple helmet will save your head, but how about arms? I am sure any kind of body armour will stop it aswell.

Also, when is the full auto version coming out since i am sure some us general really really wanted one.

Looks cool though, basicly an automated and shrunk version of times fused shells that have excised since WW1. But so much more practical.

And much more accurate. I think that's the most important feature here. Other than just firing over obstacles, I imagine this thing would be a pretty good general grenade launcher and would take a considerable amount of guesswork out of aiming, even in to building windows and such.

Nice to see that the grenade launcher component of OICW (less the co-axial 5.56mm assault rifle ) did eventually see service.

Joints, face, etc. are still vulnerable, and doesn't the most common body armor usually cover only the torso, not limbs? Plus at < 1m distance the blast wave is going to at least cause a concussion.

The K-11 Rifle, made by Daewoo in Korea, is using a similar system.

Only problem is the K11 weighs about 3-4lb more than the M25 when loaded. So bulky and heavy you might as well bring an M4 along with you. That way you would have a rifle and a grenade launcher, not a heavy POS that does both poorly.
