M3 Grant cupola view
« on: 30-08-2010, 21:08:57 »
I'd use this thing more if i could actually have similar viewpoint in it like in a tank...
It's pain to know on what direction you'r gun is facing when you're driving, since that little tank/gun icon seems to show up only when looking through the gunsights.

OT/ another cramped position in the game is the 37mm on the grant. Couldn't that get a cupola view as well? OT/
actually that is a great idea...

+1 support for this
Because it did had a special Cupola on top of the 37mm gun for the commander.

And the US M3 Lee version even had double MG's in it (But they got removed from the grant)
Just wanted to make it "official" suggestion
cupola view for M3 Grant
what can be said?
2 main things to do when you are in turret
-shoot infantry
-spot tanks for driver
both will be a lot easier with cupola view
WARNING!
Assholes are closer than they appear!

Where is the view on it now? I thought all tanks had that cupola view. Since there's two guns I'm assuming the 2nd small gun on top, the 37mm, doesn't have one, and that the main gun view is from the drivers position? You could open up a can of worms on this one, as many people want 2 person tanks, this adds pros to that argument, having two views, a driver and cupola, could be a nice new feature.

And not to get off topic but I would make two person versions of tanks and keep the single person versions for maps with lots of tanks, use the two person tanks for maps with 3-5 tanks or less.
So they are so infallible yet they can't even communicate and work with each other... sounds like politicians.

This is one of two things I want for Grants.  I hate the secondary turret only because there is no cupola veiw, and looking throught the sights while the driver moves about is disorintating.

The other change for those intrested was to change the minimap icon to that of the StuGs (since the main gun is forward firing only).

@ Vicious:  2 person (driver and gunner) tanks will never, ever happen.  Ever.  So forget it.

@ OP: I sign this, and give same signature to the marmon harrington.  The 37mm turret on the grant is next to useless at the current moment with its sight only view.

I approve both. Considering its gun, the M3 Grant is actually a early war stug but only with higher muzzle velocity and intented to be used against tanks aswel

I agree with that. The vision in the grant could be improved. Right now i am also a bit confused about the drivers secondary weapon ... you can also fire the turret machine gun from the drivers place. this way you cant aim the machine gun though - thats confusing.

The guns you're firing while as the driver are actually two hull machine guns mounted for the driver to fire in a fixed forward firing position, which are independent of the turret coaxial.

Here's an image for reference.

Well if its fixed ... thx for the answers. So the thing has a coax mg in the hull. i can remember i had problems aiming with the mgs when being the driver (thought it was the tower mg) - but then on the other side i dont play north africa maps often :P - was a long time ago when i sat in the grant.

What is the benifit of a fixed MG ?
I'm taking my own freedom
puttin' it in my song
singing loud and strong
proving all day long
I'm takin' my freedom
puttin' it in my stroll
I'll be hop-steppin' y'all
lettin' the joy unfold

tracers flying in front of you
nothing more its completly usless
thats why grant needs second player to deal with inf
maybe we could change a history a bit and make those mg so you can aim with them? or for third person? (driver, turret gunner, mg gunner)? no?
otherwise they have no purpose at all.
