BringWar sound modification for FH2
« on: 20-01-2018, 21:01:55 »
Hi everyone,

I made a sound mod called BringWar.

Features modded sounds replacements for,

- Weapons  (handheld, static, cannons...)
- Vehicles   (Tanks, LCVP, Planes, Jeeps...)
- Effects     (distant sounds, impacts explosions...)
- Material   (flybys, bullet cracks, ricochets, soldier sounds, die sounds)
- Misc        (menu music)

I have no video showing it right now, but maybe I'll post one here later on.

DOWNLOAD

https://mega.nz/folder/RUQQwbiZ#Hd3yhvPtKQUieBCg9nyE2A

ReadME with instructions for Installation and Uninstallation included

WHY did you do that???

After a couple of weeks playing the mod I started to feel that I needed to improve from my point of view the sounds of the mod and because there are no as often upadtes as branded games, the lack of new contents or enhancements decided me to do something.

So here I come with a sound mod called BringWar, I had no inspiration so named it like that.

I know many of you will ask me about the sources, so I can tell you, I tried to be as careful as I could with copyrights.

Samples from where I started editing came either from Youtube NCR channels or videos or even open use mods found for other games like Combat Mission, older bf2 mods, etc...

I there is any problem, contact me and I'll fix it.

Also sherman and jeep sound are from me, recorded samples on DDAY anniversary here in Carentan vacinity where I actually live, and managed to have some proper sounds for fh2.

Have fun! And very interested in receiving feedbacks!

Have you posted a video of this yet? Also, I haven't figured out where to extract the .zip files in order for this to work, if I extract them to my Battlefield 2/mods folder, like the read-me said to, nothing happens. Same for if I extract them to my Battlefield 2/mods/fh2 folder.

No video yet too tired tondo this right now.

You have to create a folder named BringWar in mods folder and put all the zip files in it

It should be like this

.../bf2/mods/BringWar/BringWar_XXX.zips

And in

.../bf2/mods/FH2

You should have the clientarchives.con with a backup done.

Okay, I'll try this when I get a chance. Do I unzip the .zips?

Everything sounds great! A few of the infantry weapons sound a bit underpowered, but nonetheless it's a great mod. (Edit: Also, all the voices are Russian, not sure why, but they are. If you get a chance could you fix this?)

Oh... First time I hear this... There is an option in the audio settings in the main menu where you can check if you want to hear different languages. Maybe it was unchecked.

Meanwhile, I'll see what I can do.

It´s a great mod!

If you need help modifying sounds to improve them let me know, maybe I cand find some software to give you a hand. If wrong sounds cannot be improved I would suggest to just let the original sounds in place while leaving all the other new sounds which I find awesome!

I´ll list what in my opinion could be improved:

- Handweapon sight toggle sounds pretty annoying
- Medic kit drop sound sounds way too loud
- Panzer 4 and Panther engine sounds like an airplane on the background, also it sounds weird when it accelerates, needs fix
- Grenade bounce sound is too loud
- American tank coax sounds too cut
- P40 airplane´s external MG sound doesn´t loop correctly

Needing more volumen:
- Tiger main gun
- Vierling
- MG 26(t)
- Grenade explosion
- Satchel explosion
- Spitfire, 109 and Stuka MGs external sound
- Bereta 38t italian SMG
- British tanks coax (Churchill and Cromwell)

Sounding too weak:
- T34 coax
- Sten mk. V
- FG42
- M1 Garand
- Thompson
- No. 4 british rifle
- Greasegun sounds as if it were silenced
- G43/41 German rifle
- Maxim 1910 MG
- Quad .50 cal
- BAR rifle

Needing a bass boost:

- Panzer coaxial gun
- MG34 and MG42, also more volume
- K98
- MP40
- M1 Carbine
- Vickers MG

Hey Blander! Nice to see you!

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I think the same about the improvements needed.

I saw your topic about soundpack and thought this was the green light to release it because people would actually care.

I'll work on it slowly because I'm learning as I go.

I'll fix firstly the "more volumen section", because it's pretty simple.

Also, did you have the same issue than fighterpil about hearing only Russian voices?

I just checked, and for some reason it only happened in the "Firing Range" maps, not any of the other ones.

It's normal. Allied forces on "firing range" map use Russian voice overs, axis side use Finish voices.

Really? Funny that I haven't noticed it until now.
