It also depends on how good your standard of good vs. evil is. For example, the good guy here claiming all Jews, Romani, LGBTs, Slavs, Black, and other unwanted people are inferior and therefore need to be exterminated.
I can hardly say that those people are the good guys, no matter how many times you try to use that half-baked "war is evil" argument or that half-assed "victors write the history" trope. You can't deny a crime when you are caught in the act. You may claim insanity, but I don't believe that "single perpetrator" theory either. One guy might be insane, and the rest are exploiting the poor guy's insanity to commit something worse. You are sure as shit that something big is going to happen because of that.
Is Hitler bad? Yes, maybe, but I also think that he is no badder than some random German or Austrian like Himmler, Heydrich, Goebbels, Freisler, Hess, or Norwegian like Quisling, etc. I don't believe the bullshit that makes Stalin a single evil dictator guy. There must be legions of ass-kissers that puts him on the top, the likes of Beria and his goons. Is everybody else innocent but Hitler, Tojo, and Stalin?
What makes the Allied bad besides their non-combatants body count tally, is also inventing nonsense like "Hirohito is innocent, because his officials are bickering out of his control" or "Hitler is mega-evil with powerful warlock-like ability to control the whole good nation of German into his bidding". And then makes the whole world buy it at face value. But then again, would you like more murdering of blind-fanatic Japaneses or Nazi-to-the-core Germans to settle the score?
